Paws2Freedom

Paws2Freedom Paws2Freedom is a UK based volunteer run dog rescue/rehoming dog charity with strict no-kill policy ♥ Please join us in that mission, and help us to help them.

Paws2Freedom is a Dog Rescue Initiative set up by a small group of dedicated dog lovers who work to change the lives of some of the most unwanted and neglected souls in this world. We are a registered Small Charity and our trustees are: Susan Sheldon, Mark Bridgeman and Jean Abbs. We rely on kind donations and our own limited private funds to help dogs in need. Paws2Freedom's volunteers work along

side animal rescue organisations, private rescuers and animal welfare campaigners. It is our belief that as a global team we can achieve so much more. We offer advice for adopters who would like to rescue a dog from abroad. There is no charge for this; our payment is the happiness of knowing that another life has been saved. All the dogs under our rescue's wings are only rehomed after a home and ID check. We also offer rescue back up for life, to ensure that adopters can always turn to us for help - no matter what - and that none of our dogs will end up in rescue kennels or be advertised/sold through Gumtree or other media. At present our rescue has only one kennel with an outside run which we use for behaviour rehabilitation cases, but we recently have connected with a wonderful dog boarding facility close by, run by an amazing dog trainer, who is supporting our work. We also offer home foster within our small group of wonderful foster families. Here each dog will undergo a temperament and health assessment before he/she moves on to to their very own forever home. A great number of our rescued dogs have endured hunger, severe neglect and often unspeakable cruelty. By supporting and helping dogs from situations where all they knew was pain and suffering, we get to be part of seeing them become the beautiful and happy dogs they were always meant to be. Some of our work is focused on helping dogs from the Bark Ark Shelter in Bosnia, we also occasionally work with one selected rescuer in Romania which has become known as 'the land of death for dogs'. Far too many dogs in overseas countries suffer starvation, neglect and unspeakable abuse. We also work to help dogs here in the UK find homes and we offer support and advice. It is our mission to grow so that we can help more and more dogs to a happy and safe life. We can't change the world, but we can change the whole world for the dogs we are able to save. Every single life counts more than words could say.

We are delighted to let all you lovely Paws2Freedomers know that Baby is now recovering well. It took longer than expected, but last night she had her usual portion of food and even came out for an evening stroll too. Seems so much happier already and will hopefully be her old self in a few days 🙏🤞💕🐾

🎉🎉🎉 We got back home and she walked in and jumped straight onto the sofa!! First time since her surgery! Go Baby!! ❤️🐾🎉

BABY PUPDATE 🐾
Our darling girl is having a slow recovery where she's quite lethargic, panting a lot and off her food. So we decided to get her checked out. A painkiller-, anti sickness- and antibiotic injection later we're on our way home, feeling reassured that this is not uncommon and that she'll be OK in a few more days. Please keep sending our dear oldie girl healing energy 🙏 🐾❤️x

Baby Pupdate 🐾

Our sweet old girl had a slightly better day today. She managed to eat a little more and wandered around the garden a few times, which felt like small but hopeful steps. She’s still not up for walks and is spending most of her time resting.
We spoke to the vet for some reassurance and right now I’m sitting beside her, just being with her, hoping tomorrow will bring more improvement for our darling girl. We miss her spark so much and are holding onto hope that it returns real soon.

Please keep Baby in your prayers and send her some healing energy ❤️🙏 x

WHO SAYS VET VISITS CAN’T BE FUN? 🩺🍪

Hi everyone, it’s me, Charlie! I went to the vet today for my health check and blood test (they said it’s “routine,” but I’m pretty sure they just wanted a dose of my charm 😎).

I was such a good boy!... tail on full waggy mode, handing out smiles, hoovering up treats and making everyone fall in love with me. ❤️

10/10 would totally go again… as long as the snack supply and belly rubs keep coming! 😋🐾x

Good Morning lovely Paws2Freedomers 😍 We're off to the vet with one of our sanctuary fosters, Charlie, for a health chec...

🐾 Bow Pupdate! 🐾

Hi friends, it’s me, Bow! 💕

I had my post-op check today, but to keep me calm (because I get a bit anxious at the vet, oops 😅), the lovely vet came to see me at home!

She checked my swelling on my wound and we’re all so relieved!!!... it’s just a seroma, nothing scary at all! It should go away on its own over the next couple of weeks or so. Phew! My heart is beating beautifully and the pacemaker is working perfectly, what a clever little gadget! 💓

I was a very good girl (if I do say so myself) and got plenty of treats for being brave. We’ve ordered a bit more of my calming medication to help me chill during recovery and I’ve got another check-up and heart scan booked for the 23rd of October in Bristol.

Thank you for cheering me on and helping me get this far. I feel so loved and looked after. 🙏

Love and wags,
Bow ❤️🐾x

BABY PUPDATE 💕
Hello everyone, it’s me, Baby 🌸

I had quite a big day yesterday and even though my dental procedure and other stuff went fine, oh my goodness me, that anaesthetic really knocked me for six! Especially as I am a lady of a certain age! I’ve been a bit sleepy, very drooly and a tad wobbly today... and at times I wasn’t quite sure which way was up.

But tonight I finally felt a bit more like myself and had a little nibble of food and even went for a slow mooch around the garden. The evening air felt lovely on my nose.

I’m off for another good snooze now and with a bit of luck (and maybe some freshly cooked warm fish for breakfast), I’ll be much more my usual self tomorrow.

Thank you all for caring about me so much. It really means the world. 💖

Love,
Baby 🐾x

Baby is finally out of surgery 🐾❤️

It’s been a big long day for our girl. There were a few unexpected emergencies at the clinic, so Baby’s surgery and scans ended up happening much later than planned. We’ve just picked her up from the vet and are heading home now.
She’s pretty out of it... confused, vocal and very restless as the anaesthetic wears off. She’s also really thirsty and not quite herself yet, but we’re just so relieved to have her back!

Some good news 🎉
- Chest X-rays are clear
- No obvious tumour found during the nasal scope, just some bleeding on the right side which may clear up with antibiotics.
🦷 A few loose teeth were removed while she was under, which doesn't leave her with many now. At nearly 16 years Baby will enjoy softer food now.
- treatable (with pain relief and supplements) arthritis in hips and hind legs
- bloodwork great for an old girl

She’s now on antibiotics and pain relief to help her recover and we’ll be giving her lots of love and quiet time tonight.

Thank you all so much for the kind messages and support today. It really means the world. 🙏

Will share another update tomorrow once she’s had some rest 💕🐶 x

🐾 Bow Pupdate! 🐾

Hi friends, it’s me, Bow! 💕 I’ve got a little swelling around my wound, but the vet isn’t too worried and says it’s hopefully just a seroma. I’m feeling pretty good in myself... maybe a bit too good! Apparently zoomies aren’t part of my recovery plan, so my calming meds have been nudged up a little. 😅

To keep my stress low, the lovely vet is coming to see me at home tomorrow. I’ll try to be on my best behaviour… but no promises! 😉

Love and tail wags,
Bow ❤️🐾x

Paws2Freedom's volunteers work alongside animal rescue organisations, private rescuers and animal welfare campaigners. It is our belief that as a global team we can achieve so much more.

Our team have recently introduced a new line of charity work which will make a big difference to many. We are offering some of our dogs for therapy dog work in local care homes and other organizations. This work starts in October 2018 and we are excited and proud to be able to help people through the joy of having the company of a dog for a little while. We offer advice for adopters who would like to rescue a dog from abroad. There is no charge for this; our payment is the happiness of knowing that another life has been saved. If you would like to help save lives by fostering please don’t hesitate to contact us. We would be delighted to hear from you. A great number of our rescued dogs have endured hunger, severe neglect and often unspeakable cruelty. By supporting and helping dogs from situations where all they knew was pain and suffering, we get to be part of seeing them become the beautiful dogs they were always meant to be. Some of our work is focused on helping dogs in Romania which has now become known as 'the land of death for dogs'. It's estimated that a staggering 80% of all dogs in Romania suffer starvation, neglect and abuse. We also work to help dogs here in the UK find homes and we offer support and advice.
