We are bursting at the seams with cockerels—there are just so many, and while we’ve had to turn down others, sometimes you just can’t say no.

Recently, we were contacted about a concerning situation where four hens were left with six oversized roosters, putting their safety at risk. We couldn’t stand by, so we stepped up and took in six cockerels, four ducks, and two turkeys.

One of the turkeys, Miss Lurkey, desperately needs some TLC. She’s not been fed properly, and we’ve also discovered one of the roosters is less than fond of humans. Despite the challenges, we knew their chances were slim without our intervention.

As always, if you can offer any of our animals a loving home, please get in touch!

PLEASE SHARE FOR RESCUE SPACE

We have taken Martha into our EB kennels in the hope to find her a safe space as she was in urgent need of help.
Martha is a five year old entire female bulldog
who has lived with smaller dogs but nervous (particularly of bigger dogs) when out.
Diagnosed with hip dysplasia (not a surgical case for hips), luxating patellas and arthritis (hips and knees) in 2022.
Her old owner has been struggling to manage medically due to personal circumstances and Martha has also been struggling with her conditions while living in a busy household with young children.
Her owner was initially concerned that Martha's legs were worsening and she was struggling but reports seems better since change of meds a couple of weeks ago but was not able to give her the care she needs but feels she would do well in a different environment and with someone who has more time to care for her
Would probably benefit from patella surgery? And previous notes also recommend BOAS.
Is there a rescue out there willing to take on a case like poor Martha, she’s a sweetheart

**URGENT: HOMES NEEDED FOR THESE BOYS**

Every day, we receive calls about boys who are sadly unwanted after hatching. With over 50% of hatchlings being males, most of these boys face being culled. We’re overflowing and desperate to find homes for them. If you can offer a spot in your flock, please reach out and help save a life.

⏰ Why 90 minutes? ⏰

We are a small rescue (Ran by 3 people) with a kennel base near Gloucester, south west of England

For several years now we have imposed a 90 minute rehoming area, which takes us up to cover Birmingham, down to nearly Poole, over past Cardiff, and over to reading
That makes up approximately 10 million people! 🥴 (yes I was nerdy enough one evening to look at the stats!🤣)

We have this distance in place for several reasons
• Safety. If an adoption breaks down, for whatever reason, or the adopter or dog runs into trouble (maybe they get lost, or need training advice) we are close enough to be able to over practical help, either with ourselves or with a qualified behaviourist or trainer

• Our adoption procedure. We are proud to offer as interactive a procedure you can find. We do in person homechecks, which include taking the dog along to to suss out their new digs, as well as offering multiple in person meets, sleepovers and weekend stays, so you can be sure to be spending a lot of time with the dog in question before adoption. Past this 90 minute distance, those practice meets become challenging

• Time. As we are just three people, travelling hours to do home visits just isn’t possible. Even a home 90 minutes away will take over 4 hours to complete a home visit! When you have 50 dogs on a daily to care for, you can see how time is precious. We do NOT outsource home-checks as standard, as we feel it is important for adopters to be able to talk to, and ask detailed questions from those that run the rescue, and can answer them best

Are there exceptions? Ofcourse! There are some of our dogs you will find further afield. This is judged on a case by case basis, and usually if we have exhausted suitable home offers in our area, or if something really exceptional comes along and we trust the dog to go further afield and not require as much practical support from us

Auras is a passion project ran by 3 dog mad ladies who regard every dog like our own. Trusting others to love them the same as we do, is never easy! We try to make our rehoming process as detailed and safe as possible. So we can promise every dog we take on, that we have done our upmost to protect them for life.

Ofcourse, as we grow, our procedures are constantly being evaluated, so this may change in time, but for the foreseeable these are the rules 🤣😝

So, if you’re outside of our area, there is no harm in asking, however we please ask you are respectful of the way we run our little rescue, and trust we do it all, for the dogs best interests😍

We're facing some challenges at the rescue due to the actions of one individual. This person has not only caused us to waste valuable time and resources by filing complaints with the council, but has also led to injured animals by cutting through our fences instead of using the open gate.

We urgently need to secure the rescue with CCTV. If you have the expertise to help, please get in touch.

We will also be reporting this to the police, it feels like we are being punished for wanting to do good in this crazy world.

Yesterday, we successfully started our six-monthly TB test, and we think we've finally nailed a system that keeps our boys safe and snug during the process. Given that Elton stands at 6'5" and Sam tips the scales at over 1.5 tonnes, it’s been quite a challenge! While it's still a tight squeeze, and definitely not the comfiest exit, our new setup made for a completely stress-free test.

While they were here, our amazing vets also tackled a long list of animal checks, tests, and procedures. Now, as always, we wait for the results with fingers crossed!

I think Ralph is the farm's fluffiest supervisor! 🐾

This sweet guy turned up as a stray, and despite sharing his picture, no owner came forward. We thought he was feral, but he’s proven us wrong by becoming the cuddliest of all our farm cats. Now he's claimed the hay feeder as his throne, keeping a watchful eye on all the action. As long as he is comfy he can sleep where he likes.

Just walked home after a long 12-hour day, and I’m in awe of what we’ve achieved in this wild journey. When we first moved here, I never imagined our new home would become a sanctuary for thousands of animals that have passed through these gates. The support from our volunteers, sponsors, and local community has been incredible, allowing us to make impactful decisions for the animals.

Recently, the council informed us that we need to change our use or stop, and I felt the pressure. But in less than 24 hours, we raised £5,000 to hire a team to get the job done right. Plus, a team of planners offered their services pro-bono! Sometimes, I feel so fortunate.

We’ll refund the raised money once our plan is in place because I want every penny to go directly to the animals, not red tape. Thank you all for your incredible support! We are in awe of the community that is Coopershells Family ❤️

They are excellent at keeping the grass trim & notifying you of unwanted visits.

Early start to get these two precious lives to their forever home. It's 3 hours to get to but I took it super steady to make the journey as comfortable as possible.
The girls travelled really well, even if they did eat some of the trailer.

I love that I get to be a small part of the journey for animals, and I couldn't do it without your amazing support. Thank you for enabling us to get them to safety.

Please give s a follow to watch how Flo & Betsy blossom!

Got a call just after midnight—the police were in trouble with two pigs on a busy road. These two had been abandoned in a field about a month ago and had finally broken out in search of food and water.

The police had contacted everyone, but no one would come to help. The only advice they got was to call a marksman. They apologised for disturbing me, but I was grateful. With Matt away (animals always have perfect timing), I loaded the trailer and headed to the city. Maneuvering the trailer up the steep, tight, and winding driveway felt like a superhero feat 🤣.

The pigs were underweight and exhausted, but they loaded into the trailer as if they knew they were finally safe. We got home by 3 am, and they snuggled in for the night.

Telling my best friend about the adventure this morning, and how I had no space and wasn't sure how to explain this to Matt, she offered them a home. After a bit more driving, these babies will be safe for life.

, you’re my heroes!

Amos the great has laid his snout to rest

Thank you Footprints Animal Sanctuary for stepping in & making his final year's wonderful. This boy has known only love, what every snout deserves.

💔We said goodbye to our pal Amos today 💔

He was around 16/17 years old, which is a grand old age for a pig 🐷

Amos came to us 2 and a half years ago and was the biggest fan of belly rubs, donuts and all things food.. he wasn’t overly fussy as long as it was edible.

🌞He loved sunbathing, and took every opportunity given to let the sun shine on his beautiful face.

He had gotten grumpy and forgetful over the past few months, and was showing signs of dementia along with some other illnesses. He was struggling to get up and back down again. It was time to be kind and say goodbye.

🌈Thanks for being a great friend Amos, we were honoured to have you with us 🌈

Thank you for your out pouring love & support. I feel filled with gratitude for all your messages, ideas & feel your frustrations along with mine. I have shed my tears now, the pit of anxiety will remain but its time to get to business & sort this out.

I'm sorry that I missed this, I should of done this before we even started but I am not sorry that I do not use the animals as commodities & if that means we are in breach then we will change the use of the land & not what we do here.

So many of you would like to help with the fees for this change of use, I will not be using the funds in the rescue for this. I will personally raise the funds & if you would like to help towards it please do. I'm grateful just to have you with us on this journey x
