Some companies really are thick, or downright lazy! I have been enquiring about the accuracy of various aquarium thermometers which is important to ensure water stability and temperatures for my aquatic residents - Bloody Mary and Blue Diamond shrimps, fantail and panda oranda goldfish, blue and pink ramshorns, Assassins, White Cloud Mountain Minnows and my tiny Thai micro crabs. This is the thermometer I enquired about to Interpet, sold by Pets at Home https://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/interpet-easy-read-aquarium-thermometer
I sent them this link to identify the item I was enquiring about.

First Interpet sent a link to their heaters - no good, I have heaters but I need to know how well they are working and if they break down as can happen. Then eventually after some humming and hawing, they sent this email:

Hello Fiona

Unfortunately we do not sell a glass aquarium thermometer which attaches inside the tank.

Kind Regards
The Customer Care Team

Are they being dim, or are they obfuscating as they just dont know and have never tested the accuracy of their items? Or are their items just shoddy inaccurate goods and they want to hide that from customers? Anyway, aquarium keepers, beware of Interpet goods.

Beware folks - humans leave their filth allover the rural countryside, and dogs are very attracted to the fats and rubbish within human crap. This is a consequence.

***WARNING DOG OWNERS***

Last night in the Bridge of Earn area of Perthshire a local dog called Tula became extremely poorly after eating human waste which the vet confirmed poisoned her. Past times when something similar has happened it’s been from human waste containing the remains of drugs.
Poor Tula was hooked up to IV’s and is still not herself this morning but is thankfully home now to recover.
Tula’s mum is now left with a £800 vet bill all because of someone’s irresponsibility.
We go on and on about dog owners cleaning up their dogs waste and the same should go for humans if nature calls!
We wish Tula a speedy recovery ❤️🐾

Dog owners be aware - xylitol is now listed as birch sugar in many foods. It is derived from birch trees. Apparently consumers dont like seeing 'chemical' names in lists of ingredients, so the manufacturers decided to change the name to the more consumer-friendly name of birch sugar. Given that xylitol/birch sugar is deadly for dogs, causing liver failure, it seems very remiss for the manufacturers to change the name in this way without a publicity drive to highlight the dangers, to avoid misleading dog owners who like to use xylitol-free peanut butter for their dogs in kongs and lick mats etc.

In case anyone is unfortunate enough to lose a beloved pet, do bear this warning in mind.

This information is for all animals owners, all across Scotland, so please spread the word.

If you have a missing Dog, Cat or any animal, all you want is for them to be home as soon as possible, and you will do anything.

Unfortunately, there are some people who know this, and will take advantage of how you are feeling, so please, read.

If you approach an organisation to ask for help in finding your lost animal and they ask you for a donation of any kind, please ask yourself why?

There are so many reputable organisations in Scotland and across the UK who help owners every single day in finding their lost pets and they do not ask for a donation of any kind, as their main concern is getting your animal home to you and they will do ANYTHING to help.

We have received many complaints recently from dog and cat owners, who have been asked to donate money to an organisation for help and with this they promise to print posters and flyers for the owners and deliver these and put them up locally. After donating the money, these owners have NEVER seen posters go up in their area, or flyers being delivered locally.

If an organisation in Scotland asks you for money for printing posters or flyers that they say will be delivered or put up in your area, you MUST ensure ALL these are delivered to you directly by recorded mail and that you make this part of your agreement (make sure this is in writing, such as an email) and that you will personally get these delivered or put up! If the organisation is not willing to do this, alarm bells should start to ring and you should re-think donating the money. You have to ensure you see the full amount of the printing.

I strongly believe animal owners are being taken advantage of when they are in such a vulnerable state, so please, make people aware and share this.

If you have been asked for money to help find your missing cat, dog or any animal, please email us at [email protected]. Also, if you have donated money for flyers and posters and have never seen these in your area, please get in touch.

Thank you

Fold Hill Foods is voluntarily recalling a number of its hypoallergenic cat food products, from brands including Sainsbury’s, AVA and Applaws, over a possible link to an outbreak of a potentially fatal cat condition, feline pancytopenia.

Our Story

I hold BSc in pharmacology, BSc in psychology, MSc in clinical biochemistry, and the much coveted DipCAPBT, taught by the acknowledged experts in animal behaviour, Val Strong and Professor Peter Neville. As a previous affiliate member of CAPBT, I always work to a Code of Conduct which ensures ethical practice using positive methods only. I keep up-to-date with current evidence in the field of animal behavioural science. I have considerable experience in behavioural change in animals. I work with the individual animal to change behaviour, I do NOT suppress behaviour through the use of punishment. I have had dogs, cats and small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs etc) most of my life, and had my own working collies at one time. I fostered and adopted ex-racing greyhounds and worked with them to overcome the emotional damage caused by the racing industry to these most sensitive dogs.

Currently I live with my nine rescued dogs including Spanish galgos and Spanish podencos.
