We control their environment, their access to water and their exercise, and they can’t speak up if they start feeling unwell.
Heat stroke can rapidly progress and, even with veterinary treatment, is often fatal.

On a warm day, the temperature inside a parked car can rise dangerously fast 🌡️

‘Not long’ is too long. If you can’t take them with you when you leave the car - leave them safely at home.

Heatstroke is a veterinary emergency.
Symptoms include:
Heavy panting
Excessive salivation
Rapid heart rate
Bright red gums and tongue
Weakness, confusion or collapse
If you see a dog in distress in a hot car, first call 999, then seek veterinary advice urgently.

Care of brachycephalic dogs in summer 🐾

As temperatures rise, take extra care with short-snouted pets.Brachycephalic breeds like pugs, bulldogs and French bulldogs face a significantly increased risk of heatstroke compared to long-snouted dogs.

We are delighted to announce that we can now offer you online appointment bookings. This means you can book a routine, non urgent appointment at any time of the day or night by simply clicking on the link on our website page. It's simple and convenient in just three steps.

you will be given a selection of dates and time slots to choose from.
2. Select an available date and time that is convenient to you.
3. Select the reason for the visit. If you need to book an appointment for more than one pet- you just repeat this easy process for each pet. Once booked, you will recieve email confirmation of your appointment.

At the moment this is just for vet appointments but we hope nurse consults bookings will be available in the near future.
