Hi, my name is Barbara and I am the baker of all things Skye Tails. I cut, stamp and bake every single one of Skye Tails delicious (yes, I have tasted them all) dog treats. I initially started baking dog treats a few years ago when Sophie, our Weimaraner, developed acute car sickness. Every journey no matter where we went, she was miserable. I researched what might help and ginger was mentioned over and over again. I had a play about with some ingredients and developed the Gingerbread Dog Treat recipe which I still use to this day. Sophie’s car sickness improved and she was much keener to jump in the car and head further afield for walks with the family. So that’s where the idea for Skye Tails stemmed from and, from there, it has gone from strength to strength.
I’d always attended craft fairs as a stallholder, making handmade jewellery and I stuck some bags of my Dog Treats in a basket on the end of my table with the thought nothing ventured, nothing gained going through my head. They sold like hot cakes within the first half hour! I came home and thought ‘should I?’ I started researching all things dog food related and thought I can do this! The contents of some treats on the market? Well, I’d rather not go in to that! So between being a wife, a Mum to four children and my job I’ve been experimenting and developing recipes for Skye Tails. I only use good quality store cupboard ingredients. My dogs are an extension of our family and I care very passionately about what they eat that’s why what goes into Skye Tails Dog Treats is good enough for humans to eat; the freshest ingredients from my larder cupboard and free range eggs. Good enough for us means its definitely good enough for our loving and loyal best friends.
I freshly bake your order in my little family kitchen in Digg, Staffin on the Isle of Skye. I take immense pride in my product and I hope your dog enjoys them as much as I enjoy baking them. As a small business your orders mean so much. I love to hear from my customers and every review left, well, there is dancing and beaming smiles. I adore the photographs sent in by happy customers. If you place an order it’s baked and shipped out to you as quickly as possible. This ensures your best friends receive their treats when they are at their freshest. All Skye Tails treats have been quality taste tested by our black Labrador Retriever, Woody (15) and our Weimaraner, Sophie (6). Can I also add… me and the kids have all had a nibble too - they really are delicious!
