So after many recent requests, I have decided to switch some work priorities around and open up my books for more clients. As some of you will know a combination of the impact of Covid on saddle lead times and some unfortunate health hiccups had meant I had to stop taking any more clients on, but all is good (touch wood) so I am here if you need me 😊 Take a peak at my About Me to refresh your memory as to my qualifications and services I offer.

Stunning ex demo jump saddle from Hastilow and Sons available at a one time price of £1695 so I can get a new demo in as sadly I can't keep them all! Hardly used. RRP for this saddle is £2695. Dark brown with black patent welting and facing as well as a black patent false croc panel on the cantle back. Beautiful finishing touch of a quilt stitched gullet lining as well!
17.5" seat on a 17" panel, square cantle, dark brown calf leather seat and knees with pre oiled super supple textured memel leather flaps, providing just that extra bit of grip. Jacobs wool flocked, felt lined panel for the ultimate comfort for your horse. Built on a Fairfax bio simatree, providing an adjustable gullet system along with slight flexion along the rails of the saddle. Super supportive wider panel for a horse requiring a bit of support in front. Suit horse with a moderate to high wither, but not mega high. Super strong, velcro knee and calf blocks. Fantastic day for our supported rider Rachel Brown Eventing at Bicton Horse Trials today! 2nd in the U18BE90 on her Mum's Horse Rocky and 4th in the U18100 on her own Louis! What a result! 😁 Congratulations Rachel on really wonderful results 😁 What an other great start to the season 🎉🍾XxX

In light of yesterday's lockdown announcement and today's follow up news conference, plus conversations today with fellow members of the Society of Master Saddlers; local and further afield, I have taken the decision to stop saddle fitting until we are advised otherwise. In order to do our jobs correctly, we do have to work with riders in close proximity and yes they will be masked but within a meter of us when sat on a horse and with the rate of new variant cases being a massive amount higher, that is a risk I just cannot take. I have 2 friends of similar age to me with Covid and it is certainly not just a cold or even like the flu.
Only equine professionals essential to horse welfare should be working and should a need for saddle fitting be so desperate it is deemed a welfare issue, it can be dealt with in the meantime by video. Yes there will be some equine professionals pushing the boundaries of what is actual welfare vs general care and that is their perogotive, but I am choosing to follow the guidelines as closely as possible, as will several of my colleagues. To all my clients, past, present and future, please stay safe and healthy and do your part 😊 X

Very pleased to announce that we are now a Premier Equine account and our first customer orders have arrived. Chief helpers 🐕 ensured it is in tip top condition! A huge thank you to Laurence Pearman , Fellow of the Society of Master Saddlers, for a fantastic week of saddle reflocking and adjustments, using some wonderful modified tools to make ours lives easier and learning some updated methods of doing things. Despite having done this for 12 years after being taught by Hastilow & Sons in the USA and UK, I had my usual pre exam nerves!🤣 but passed it all and will soon have the "official" very pretty piece of paper from City and Guilds... Thank You to all for a wonderful week, now back to a busy fitting schedule 😁 ❤🐴

Are you bringing your horse back into work after some time off? 🌱🐴

While being out of work your horse’s weight and muscle development is likely to have changed. Even small changes can have an influence on how well their saddle now fits.

Ideally, it would be sensible to have your horse’s saddle fit checked by a qualified saddler before bringing your horse back into work. 🐎🔍
At the end of the fitness programme, which normally takes around eight weeks, your horse can change shape through developing muscle and weight loss, so another saddle fit check at this point is also advised.

This will prevent your horse wearing an ill-fitting saddle which may cause them discomfort, rubs or pain, and help ensure they’re working at their full potential. 🏇

HELLO everyone, from our horsey household to yours on this delightfully rainy day! 😁 I hope that you are all managing to stay safe and healthy and sane in these unprecedented times.

I know it is frustrating that I cannot come out, espeacially if you are choosing to ride and have more time to ride than ever before, but currently saddle fitters are deemed a non essential service and it is also impossible to do our jobs correctly whilst complying with social distancing rules. We need to see you in the saddle and check the fit closer to you than the 2 metre social distancing rule. The difference between a non sat in saddle and one sat in and again ridden in, can be vast. There are strict guidelines from the Society of Master Saddlers which currently state, do not fit, as well as from some of our insurers. The odd fitter has chosen to still be out working, but this is the minority vs the norm and this is in itself going against government guidelines and risking lives of not just themselves and their family, but you and your loved ones as well.
With all that said and done 😊....
I can try and offer you some advice from photos and videos where possible, though this, in no way shape or form represents a saddle check or fitting and in some instances may not be possible.
I am building up quite a wait list which will take me a while to get through, of fittings, checks and re-flocks. So PLEASE if you will need me any time in the 2 months after lockdown is lifted, please contact me and pop your name on the list. In addition to more local clients I currently have towards the top of the list further distance trips of Kingsbridge, Dorset, Torbay, Okehampton area & Taunton/Bridgwater, Crediton area, so can pop you on that area group if necessary.
