Dodger is enjoying a diaphragm release with an indirect myofascial release technique. This extremely gentle manual therapy unwinds the connective tissue called fascia and helps balance the body.

Dodger sustained a back injury jumping from height and landing funny. This had caused his fascial system to go into protective mode and as a result, restricted his breathing and core muscle activation. He was feeling so much better after just one treatment!

Handsome Bruno is recovering from IVDD surgery and has taken huge leaps forward in just a few short weeks!

Did you know that French Bulldogs are famously prone to spinal issues? The conformation of their spine puts pressure on the intervertebral discs, which predisposes them for disc degeneration and injury.

Targeted strengthening and exercise adaptations can help prevent injury. Once the spinal injury has happened, early physiotherapy intervention is key to good recovery.

This handsome chap (the one on the left) is Rupert.
He is a rescue beagle and he is having physiotherapy for a hip subluxation (partial dislocation) and a disc prolapse.

His physiotherapy includes pain management with LASER therapy and manual therapies and progressive strengthening exercises for his core and back legs. We have worked hard to get him from completely frightened to approach me to happy and relaxed during the sessions.

During the course of physiotherapy, Rupert has been able to go back to his normal walks, jumping on the settee and executing his usual mischief. In general, he is a much happier and more comfortable little man!

The car is back as good as new (or better)! Thank you so much to everyone who had to have their appointments rescheduled on some of the busiest weeks of the year.

And special thanks to Dan at in Yardley, who sorted _everything_ in under a week and even delivered the car to my front door!

Now it's time to take a breath and prepare for a great new year ✨️

Cats can have physio too!

Simba has physiotherapy for arthritis in his hips. Cats are masters in hiding pain, but as Simba has progressed in his physiotherapy, his owner has started to notice positive changes in his behaviour such as:
•jumping on and off higher surfaces
•playing with toys more
•improvement in mood and confidence
•more activity in general

Miss Willow takes full advantage of the physio sessions. Snoozes on the settee under a cosy blanket with the LASER on her neck, what could be better? OH, the occasional sausage treats, of course!

Willow has neurological symptoms of unknown origin. With the help of physiotherapy, she has gone from falling over her front legs and unable to get up to happily running around off lead again.

This absolutely adorable sausage trio is Duke, Dolly, and Dougie.

Dolly in the middle has previously had IVDD and spinal surgery but has successfully returned to normal after a course of physiotherapy!

Dougie on the right has had no less than 3 slipped discs, two of which he has had surgery for. For the latest one, the owner has decided against surgery. Dougie is having physiotherapy to manage pain and discomfort caused by the damaged disc and the subsequent compensations. Physio will also help him maintain normal ranges of motion and preserve muscle mass.

Rosie's favourite part of the session is the exercise!

A combination of LASER therapy, manual therapies, therapeutic exercises, and librela injections are helping this little Westie lady live her best life even with arthritis. She celebrated her 12th birthday this week, but looking at her enthusiasm during her physio sessions, you would think she is still a puppy!

She, of course, also likes the treats included in the exercise session. Like most dogs, Rosie responds best to positive reinforcement and works really hard for the tasty sausage treats!

Yesterday I said goodbye to my first dog Tiitu.

She loved snoozing and chicken treats and any length of walks. She loved to go to our summer cottage on the boat and have the wind in her face. She never ran away more than a few meters except for when she ran after me on my way to the first day of work as a physio.

Now you're free to run and bark and snooze in the sun for your heart's content. And I will always have a little Schipperke-shaped hole in my heart 🖤

Maximus is a 9 month old American Bulldog puppy who collided with his brother whilst playing fetch and hurt his knee. His x-rays showed a possible cruciate ligament issue and mild hip dysplasia. Being 65kg already and still growing, he will need all the support that he can get to grow into a balanced and well-muscled adult.

Maximus is having physiotherapy to help strengthen and stabilise his back legs and avoid further problems in the future.
