Yes, its been a while since we last posted, yes, we are well thank you and yes, thankfully things are starting to pick up on the sound and lighting front.

So far this year, we had the pleasure of providing sound and lighting services for three events, including an awesome Battle Of The Bands event on behalf of the Buckinghamshire Music Trust and fantastic mini festival on behalf of !daft!

We are also looking forward to once again supporting the Hurst Pimary School in Bexley for their Summer International Music Festival and at least 2 more quality events on behalf of !daft!

We also received an enquiry today from our lovely friends at Eurohire, asking if we could provide sound and stage tech services for the upcoming Readipop festival in July.

Small steps are all we can hope for in the current climate but I'll take small steps going forward, over going backwards all day long.
Let's all hope the world sorts itself out sooner than later......

Hi all, we sincerely hope you are as well as can be expected in the current climate.

Well, since FB keeps telling me that Dizzy Blonde Productions haven't posted anything for ages, I guess I had better say something to prove to FB at least that we are alive and kicking if not out and about for obvious reasons !

We have taken this enforced down time to check and repair all of our cables, re-paint speakers and and generally tidy things up.

We have also re-vamped our festival amp rack to install some new PKN XE4000 series amplifiers to drive our outdoor subs.
These latest offerings from PKN incorporate full remote monitoring and voltage output and limiting control, very useful to feed the drivers with the optimum voltage levels. This new arrangement provides for future expansion allowing the addition of another 8 subs if required.

We also took the opportunity to upgrade our amp rack power distro with a natty little Powercon distribution unit and also the sub hook up cables to handle the power from the amps.

I also decided to build a passive splitter to enable stage side monitoring. The photo below shows the splitter rack ready wired to accept our second A&H stage box's when needed.
Both connect to the respective desks with CAT5....a very neat solution I thought 😇

All we need now is an opportunity to make use of it all...not this year I fancy though 😕

Keep safe and well everyone.....see you on the other side as they say !

This year's "Amped" stage featured 3 stacks per side EAW KF850 and KF850SB supplied by Eurohire.
These huge output cabs go back to around 1985 and are still used for many events around the world in various configurations.
In terms of design, they are not that dissimilar to the RCF 6001A cabs we had prior to investing in the line array (albeit the 6001's are active cabs having on board amplifiers).

Weighing in at 250lbs, these EAW cabs need 3 to 4 people to safely stack but once in place, provide crisp mids and highs and chest thumping bass when paired with the sub bass cabs.

The KF850's are tri-amped cabs meaning that 4 power amps are required to drive a top and sub-bass combination, for 6 pairs of cabs, that's a lot of amplifier power which is usually supplied by the Eurohire Lab Gruppen amp racks.

Well, here we are a full week after another successful Basingstoke Live (or "B Love" as they call it now) and it was all hands to the pumps for another double gig weekend with the lovely !daft!

"B Love" went very well but the hot weather made the already strenuous weekend even more draining for us workers.

The new Allen & Heath Qu-32 worked flawlessly on the "Amped" stage, driving the Eurohire EAW 6 cabs per side rig.

Our Qu-24 we used as part of our own rig we supply for the "Electric Soup" stage, apparently started to exhibit minor glitches due to the heat which we were able to remedy on the Sunday by adding a fan.
An integral cooling fan would be a worthwhile addition to the otherwise excellent Qu range.

This week saw us back with !daft! on Friday at the Hilton St Anne's Manor for a large corporate summer ball and then a sumptuous wedding in Stokenchurch on Saturday.

We have a few more busy double gig weekends ahead with !daft! until we settle back into the normality of single gig weekends. These include 3 more festival type events, one of which is a military event which I am particularly looking forward to (any excuse to get a look around the vehicle sheds and talk to the guys about the latest kit 😉).
