It is with great sadness that we share the incredibly tragic news of the passing of Hugo Fernandez, EAZWV Executive Director, who tragically lost his life in a fatal traffic accident last Friday.
A statement from the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe can be found below:
“Hugo joined the EAZWV as Executive Director 18 months ago and quickly became an integral part of our community, participating actively in all FVE and UEVP General Assemblies. As the FVE Secretariat, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to work closely with Hugo and witness firsthand his dedication and passion for our profession.
His untimely loss has come as a tremendous shock to us all. Hugo was not only a devoted advocate for the veterinary profession but also a remarkable person whose warmth, positivity, and ever-present smile made working with him a true pleasure.
Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. Hugo’s presence, enthusiasm, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
