Please note they will be used online so make sure you own the photos and happy for them to be shared. Thank you!

Breed: Dachshud (Miniature Wire)
Judge : Wendy Heather

I felt that the quality in this entry was of a high standard throughout and I thank you for bringing your hounds under me.
Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (5,1a)

1. Dance’s, Emem Autumnal Sunshine JW: 19th month old Wild Boar bitch with femineity encompassed in her fully muscled body. Presented in good harsh coat and handled to her full potential. Robustly muscled rear with good breadth and strength that allowed her to drive powerfully around the ring. Movement was sound and free flowing with long stride and drive. Ribbing well back with short and strong loin, good ground clearance. I preferred the front assembly from the 1st in Open class, bit this was just marginal, in the challenge both bi***es were of the same type and quality. RBOB

2. Kilroy’s, Blackvein Rambler at Janacop JW: 17th month Wild Boar bitch with feminine head, dark eye and good length of neck. Presented in good harsh coat with free movement and well driven from the rear. I preferred the outline and undercarriage of that of the 1st.
3. Procter’s, Delacy Que Sera Sybil
4. Umfreville’s, Dogrose Bee of Sound Mind

Open Dog or Bitch (3, 0a)
1. Dance’s, Emem Letty Bee Sunshine JW: 2 year old Wild Boar bitch that commanded the ring the moment she entered. Femininity and power, that was contained in a balanced outline of good proportions and pleasing to go over. Dark, almond shaped eye with good fill under the eye and strong jaw. The front assembly allowed for free flowing movement with long stride, not interfering with the full volumed thorax. Nicely ribbed back with short and strong loin and good length of sternum. Powerful rear with drive and power. Good ground clearance and a joy to watch on the move. In the challenge I preferred her front assembly to that of 1st in Post Graduate, BOB and pleased she was awarded HG4.

2. Howells’, Fallowmill Miss Range Rover: Another quality Wild Boar bitch, 2 years old but heavier in front which hindered her movement, not allowing for free movement nor presenting the same outline and keel as that of the 1st. Coat was in good harsh condition and immaculately presented. Compact and well-muscled with bold and defiant head carriage, lovely dark eye and famine head. Called into to challenge for RBOB but preferred the movement of the 1st in Post Graduate.

3. Mills’, MiddletonHunt at Oniasid: Although not asked to critique the third, I would like to comment on how dark and correct the pigmentation was on this pretty red bitch. Presented in good harsh coat and well handled. I would have preferred more fill under the eye and more length of sternum, a real shame to come against the first and second. This class was lovely quality.

Pharaoh Hound: (1,1a)
Judge : Wendy Heather

"Shame as 1 entered and did not arrive."... note from Joseph and not the judge.

Breed: Hamiltonstovare
Judge : Wendy Heather

Open Dog or Bitch
1. Adey’s, Abon Sfora Nordowskiej Knieji at Rubeusbay(imp Pol): 23 month old, Handsome and upstanding with rectangular outline and nicely proportioned. Correct colouring, however I would have preferred more white on tip of tail. Deep chest with moderate spring of rib and good length allowing slight tuck up. Tail held with slight sabre shape both standing and on the move, reaching to the hocks with good width at base and narrowing at the tip. Movement was sound, however this hound was unable to show off his free striding and long reaching potential due to the floor quality. BOB
Breed: Greyhound

Open Dog or Bitch
1. Rishworth’s, Ch. Out Of The Blue Ad Honores: 4 ½ year old bitch in good muscular condition presenting a feminine and balanced outline both standing and on the move. Feminine head with bright and intelligent dark eye of oval shape, small rose ears of fine texture all held on long and muscular neck, elegantly arched into well laid shoulders. Nicely muscled first and second thigh with nothing over exaggerated and good width of stifle. Movement was sound, however due to the slippery floor lacking in propulsion which I am sure this bitch can perform in better floor conditions. BOB

05/07/2023

Irish Wolfhound
Judge : Wendy Heather

Special Yearling Dog or Bitch ( 2, 1a)
1. Sumner’s, Dukesarum Masanobu: Upstanding 15 month old male of good type and balanced outline. Masculine head with dark eye and rose ears, long strong neck leading into well laid back shoulders. Deep chest with good breadth and well ribbed back with arch over the loin. Good width of stifle and well muscled first and second thigh. Coat in good harsh condition and well presented. Movement was sound, however this lad was unable to show off his full drive and extension due to the slippery floor. Sadly unable to remain for the group judging. BOB

Beagles - SWHC 2023

David Bell - Balintyne

Puppy (4,0)
1. Tanner Felinoak Ffansi Nansi Super young puppy bitch, just loved everything about her. Lovely balance to her head, clean with slight dome to her skull, ears well placed hanging close, lovely expression. Well made body, compact, lovely bone and feet. Firm topline with tail set well and carried erect. Lovely length of stride with easy gait, BP RBOB
2. Mitchel & Wright Felinoa Fizz at Huntshill another well made youngster, a little longer in body at this stage, well turned stifle giving good reach and drive, although a little loose when coming.
3. Scarlett Rossut Vestry with Michelroy

Sp Yearling (5,1)
1. Murphy Davricard Picasso at Rhosyndu liked the balnce of her head, ears set low, straight in front, hindquarters well developed, free on the move
2. Tanner Felinoak El Koko Loko Attractive head with soft expression, lovely legs and feet, well developed hindquarters, well let down at the hock. Not so firm in topline as winner.
3. Kingsland & Stevens Redcap the Loco Motion with Newdawn NAF

Post Grad (5,2)
1. Bell-Thomas & Thomas Amorpapaver Juno Straight in front, ribs well sprung, stifle well rurned. Won on her brisk steady movement.
2. Roberts & Spearing Linkenlees Laurina ShCex firm topline, well muscled loin, tail well set and carried, hindquarters wide and powerful. Little loose in front movement today
3. Breeze Parkebreeway Wyseman JW

Open (7,1)
1. Caple Morsefield Mudlark ShCex Mature young dog, masculine head, good length of muzzle, well finished. Firm topline, tail carried well. Wide well muscled hindquarters. Movement improved when he settled becoming steady with good length of stride. BOB
2. Roberts & Spearing LinkenleesLyric ShCM well ribbed back, deep in chest, topline held well on the move. Lacked a little in turn of stifle
3. Breeze Ch Dufosse Gragonfly of Parkebreeway

Ladies and Gents.... Critique from David for Afghan SWHC 2023

David Bell - Balintyne
Afghans

Puppy (4,1)
1. Bellringer Pramya Keep Your Eyes on Me confident 9 month gold bitch, has good overall balance, firm topline, long sweeping stifles, short in rear pastern and good sized feet. Moved our soundly on a difficult floor. BP and RBOB
2. Gunn Katanga’s God of Thunder 10 month Black and Silver boy, well grown , short in loin, well sprung rib of good depth and good length of leg. Attractive head, strong underjaw. Improved on the move with confidence
3. Gunn Katanga’s God of Mischief

Junior (3,0)
1. Gunn Katanga’s God of Thunder
2. Lawson-Ball Sitana Mystique at Zarcar Gold bitch, with good length of head, clean skull and correct eye shape. Good length of rib, short in coupling, well developed second thigh. She lost her topline a little, which was attributed to her uncertainty of the floor.
3. Gunn Katanga’s God of Mischief

Post Grad (4,1)
1. Smart Gezancol Kissed By an Angel Lovely length of head, eye shape and colour giving desired aloof expression. Good length of neck, well set into sloping shoulder. Would like to see her develop a little more in rib.
2. Green & Powell Ynsukhim’s Candy Floss A little fine in head for me. Short back, long well turned stifle. Well b***d with excellent feet
3. McLay Cloudside Sun King Limit (4,2)

Limit (4,2)
1. Godber-Ford Affyneeta Desert Wind Well made gold dog, powerful wide hindquarters, prominent hipbones and good fall away. A little round in eye, good strength in muzzle.
2. Medley Altside She’s Hot Elegant bitch, well laid shoulder, good length of rib and firm in loin. She rises over the croup a little which detracted somewhat from her outline, but again I think this was a reaction to unsure footing on the floor.

Open (4,2)
1. Rhodes Shadowfax Threepenny Opera JW Fully mature bitch who for me stood away in this entry. Feminine head, long, clearly defined occiput, super eye shape and colour. Straight in front, shoulders long and sloping, firm and level in back, correct fall away to well turned stifle, short rear pasterns. Coat fine in texture. On the move she had confidence, long side gait with desired lift. BOB
2. Godber-Ford Affyneeta Mountain Breeze well proportioned young dog, good eye shape and colour, strong in muzzle and underjaw. Would prefer to see a little more length of neck. Moved out steadily

SOUTH WEST HOUND CLUB. 10TH APRIL.

BEST IN SHOW.

I was delighted to find so many quality hounds sent forward, a lovely group to judge at this friendly well run show. It really was a super selection of hounds. My thanks to the committee for the invitation, and my excellent stewards for their support.

BIS
The PBGV, Cadmore, Hayes, Moore and Robertson’s AmCH M&Ms Stellar Mayhem & Madness ( IMP USA)
This lovely lad just owned the ring, he has that touch of charisma that will take him far. Beautifully balanced he defied you to look elsewhere. Sweetest head and expression, lovely dark eyes and correct ear leathers, good neck into excellent forehand, well held top line and stern, he just powered round the ring on excellent legs and feet. Harsh well presented coat completed the picture. One for very top honours.

RBIS.
The lovely whippet, Howgate and Hull’s Palmik Truth About Love JW. Beautiful young fawn Whippet of great shape and type and correct size, going over her everything flows under your hands. Very feminine head with good width of jaw and lovely dark well shaped eyes. Excellent length of neck, well laid shoulder, lovely length and depth of ribbing, nicely balanced angulation both ends, moved with precision with a daisy cutting action and drive from the rear. Must be destined for the top.

BIS 3,
Deerhound, Lewis’ Luckhurst Whitefeatherfal. Super young Deerhound, loved her in the breed classes for her femininity and shape. Lovely to go over, nothing exaggerated, built on classic flowing sighthound lines. Sweet head and expression, neat rose ears, good neck and forehand, well ribbed back with good tuck up and fallaway of croup. So free and easy on the move, light effortless floating movement and sound as a bell. I shall watch her future with interest.

BIS 4.
Miniature wire Dachshund, Dance’s Emem Letty Bee Sunshine JW. Loved this little character, lovely harsh jacket, sweetest head and expression, well shaped dark eyes, good neck and excellent forehand with plenty of keel. Well ribbed back, well held top line, moved like a little train, happy sound and free on the move. Really uses her hocks to drive around the ring, no tummy tapping here ! With normal luck should make up easily.

BPIS.
Ham’s lovely saluki, Ravensett Ashkan, fawn male approaching his first birthday. Masculine yet refined head, lovely expression from dark well shaped eyes, good neck flowing into a lovely forehand. Good length and depth of ribbing, still needs to drop into his brisket, but as it should be at this age. Well held top line and good tuck up, nothing exaggerated he flows under the hands. Shown on a loose lead he flowed round the ring with a light effortless action, true and sound from all angles.

RBPIS.
Thornton’s Fauve de Bretagne Mochras Halo. What a long way this delightful breed has come in the last few years. I particularly appreciated her excellent forehand and lovely lay of shoulder. Sweet expression, typical head for the breed with lovely dark well shaped eyes, well held top line,
balanced angulation both ends, she moved freely and precisely with well held stern, topped with a good harsh jacket, such a happy soul.

BPIS3.
Barnes lovely whippet, Doddridge Strictly Cha Cha, br/wh pup of super breed type, Sweetest head and expression, good length of neck leading into lovely forehand with well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Correct size, lovely shape with a gentle rise of loin and good depth of brisket, balanced angulation both ends which showed in her fee sound movement.

BPIS 4.
Davies Rhodesian Ridgeback, Markeliz Magic Made Me, completed a quartet of lovely puppies. Feminine but strong head with good expression, dark well shaped eyes, big teeth and punishing jaw. Flowed easily under the hands, good ribbing and nicely balanced all through, easy and sound on the move, maturing along the right lines, sound and free on the move, excellent well padded feet.

BVIS.
Allenby’s Fauve de Bretagne, Ch Rangali Tigger, happy 7 year old with good harsh coat and in excellent condition, masculine head with good expression, nicely balanced and angulated both ends, maintains a level top line and moved out well to win this.

RBVIS
Murphy’s Beagle, Black Royal at Rhosyndu, Vw, 8 year old hound marked gent with a lovely softly cushioned generous head giving a lovely expression, good leathers complete the picture. In excellent muscular condition, he moved out well keeping his top line and a happy stern, lovely breed type.

BVIS 3
Lawrence & Woodwards Palmik Kandelama Dusk Till Dawn JW ShCex, 8 year old Br/wh whippet of good breed type, sweet head and expression, flowing lines from head through the top line and brisket , good ribbing, just losing her tuck up a bit, but it didn’t affect her easy free sound movement.

BVIS 4.
Farrar’s Harrier, Frenzy at Henissy, almost white 9 year old of good proportions, built on solid hound lines. Lovely head with strong jaw, good neck and shoulder and balanced angulation. Well held top line and stern, moved out easily and well, enjoying her day out and making life hard for her handler !

Borzoi.
Puppy (1)
1, BP. Collins Palamedees Aneira Demeter. 11 months pretty br/wh feminine baby, nicely proportioned head, good neck into sufficiently angled forehand, good length of ribbing and depth of brisket for her age, a tad flat in top line but promising. Moved soundly.
Junior. (1)
Dove’s Takatori Madam Butterfly at Saringa. strong r/w bitch of lovely outline and balance, in excellent coat and condition. Attractive head with neat rose ears, good neck and forehand, excellent ribbing and depth of brisket, correct top line and good fallaway. Moved out easily and well until she slipped and sadly lost her confidence, a great shame.
P Grad ( (5, 2a)
Logvinenko’s Ryazan Vladimir, RBoB, attractive r/w of pleasing proportions, litter brother to BoB and similar in many ways. Masculine head but without coarseness, neat ears, good neck and depth and length of ribbing, giving plenty of heart room. Nicely balanced angulation, very good feet, free and easy on the move, a shade flat in top line.
