Dog day care, dog walking and lots more in the beautiful town of Uppingham, Rutland.
I think it’s safe to say this week’s enrichment of the week - ‘enrichment extravaganza’ is a huge hit.
This activity is a box filled with blankets, towels, a dog bed, toys and a licki matt (with a tiny bit of peanut butter spread on it). We then hide a few sprats and treats inside. It has kept the doggies entertained and happy for ages! If the dog is an excellent sniffer we roll up the treats inside the towels in the box.
A big well done to Ella (who works in the daycare) who is the mastermind behind this week’s enrichment 👏

So, because I am old I literally know nothing about TikTok! However, the amazing Ella, who works in day care has created an account for us (.hounds.uppingham) and created this video (which looks like some form of magical wizardry to me). Great work Ella 👏
Our 5th and final Olympic day didn’t disappoint. It was a very close competition today with the lead changing paws by the minute. All dogs were amazing and a huge well done to our medalist:

Day 4 of the Olympics at Happy Hounds Uppingham and our competitors didn’t disappoint. It was claw biting stuff as four dogs were in joint first place with one event to go! We are honestly having the best fun this week 😀 As always a huge congratulations to all of the doggos, they behaved beautifully and congratulations to our medalists:

We completed the events early on to beat the heat and the competitors then enjoyed an afternoon of paddling pools and well deserved iced treats. A huge well done to all of our doggy athletes and of course our medal winners:

We have had such a lot of fun doing the doggy Olympics today. All dogs took part in a running race, high jump, hurdles and a timed treat hunt. Well done to all the doggies for taking part so beautifully and a big well done to our medalists:

Today is National Dog Photography Day. Photographs are such an important part of Happy Hounds Uppingham as they enable us to send detailed reports at the end of each service. That ‘sit and wait’ training we have been working on in day care is really starting to pay off 😀
Every week we try and do a new enrichment activity with the doggies in our day care. It’s so interesting to see what they do and don’t love doing. We did ‘foraging for treats’ a few weeks ago and it has been such a big hit we have done it every day since. Am yet to find a dog who doesn’t love it 😀

Due to high demand I have decided to open the day care this Saturday (13th). I have a couple of spaces left if any current day care customers would like to book on. First come, first served 😀

This week’s enrichment ‘Egg Box Challenge’ in the day care has been going down a storm. It’s amazing how a few sprats in a closed egg box can keep a dog busy. Really interesting to see who works out how to open the box gently and who shreds it. We don’t mind either way 😀

I love to mix up the walks I take dogs on but taking a dog to their favourite walk is always a lovely moment 😀

Sorry for all of the Bailey spam. Although I wish he wasn't going through this I find the whole process fascinating (and also feel the need to tell everyone). This is Bailey 5 days post op on his 5 minute walk in the garden. Check out his back, right leg. How is it possible he is barely limping? P.S. he is not in some weird pyjamas, he struggles to tolerate a cone on his head so this is a post op suit to protect his stitches.
So so pleased to get my boy home on Friday. After a day or two of feeling sorry for himself he is definitely up for some enrichment puzzles this afternoon 😁
If only I had this amount of energy at 5am!

I quite often get asked if I only walk dogs off the lead because my photos mainly show dogs zooming around having fun. The answer is that I always start a new dog on the lead while we build a bond. I have quite a few leads of varying length so every walk the lead gets longer which gives me a chance to check their recall. Once we are both happy the dog is let off (with the owner's permission). It is such a lovely moment when this happens as shown in this video today 😁
I have spent ages trying to think of a funny caption for this video but the best effort I can come up with is 'one small step for man, one giant leap for dogkind'. Better captions in the comments please 😁
