On National Dog Day it feels fitting to share a little something about these 5 special dogs.
Firstly Gemma, John's (and my) first Labrador.
Gemma was a year old when we got together in 2000. We lost her when she was 13 years of age. She taught us so much about dog behaviour. We never did any formal gundog training with her but she was a fantastic pet!
Then theres Indy, our first working gundog, and the reason Family Dog Services exists today. Indy was our introduction to gundog training, she has brought special friends into our lives (including her breeder George and Lisa of Adniel Gundogs) and she really was my life line when I found out I'd never be blessed with my own children. She's also the dog who brought Robert Alleyne into our lives and she (and he) are the reason behind Family Dog Services. She has featured on adverts, competed on sports relief top dog, is a fantastic working gundog and has been placed at charity working tests as well as passing her KC working gundog certificate. We lost her at 12 years of age this year.
Dude, almost 11 years old. Our handsome lad, and, nephew to Indy. John's "lil man" and his best friend. A real softie, such a sweet dog, always there when you need his head to lay on your lap. A pleasure to train, a cracking working gundog and has been placed and won at charity working tests and passed his KC working gundog certificate.
Rose, 5 years old. Named after John's beautiful nan who passed away. Loving the journey with Rose so far, and, enjoying putting years of studying, learning, and, growth and development as dog trainers into practice with her. She's already taught as so much. She's brought new and wonderful dynamics to our household and she's a total cutie with a pinch of crazy.
Genie, 9 months old. Fun loving pup who lives life to the fullest
Every dog brings something different into our lives. Every dog teaches us something new.
Celebrate your dogs and their uniqueness not just on National Dog Day but every day.
