Maggie's Muddy Mutts If you are on holiday, on a night out, or it's another day at the office, Maggie's Muddy Mutts will be there to feed, walk, play, and of course hug your pets.

The bonus for you is absolute peace of mind knowing that your furry family are looked after. I am a positive reinforcement (+R) dog trainer. Giving you the lead in your dogs success using games to set our dogs up in this big, crazy world. Along side walking, training and loving dogs, I have range of community projects. With my trained therapy/service dogs we work with people with ASN, people who

struggle with their mental health, nurseries, schools, people in addiction recovery and people with dementia. Dogs have so much love to share and we want to share it with you.

🌟 Meet the Team 🌟

This is Susan, a proud Doodle owner who’s anything but stereotypical! While she might have a soft spot for her furry friend Stanley, she’s quick to point out that he's not your average "designer" dog. With his mix of two working breeds, Stanley is all about mud, water, and adventure—much to Susan’s delight! 🌊🐾

For Susan, walks aren’t just walks—they’re full-blown adventures. And, more often than not, these adventures involve lots of muddy paws and splashing around. She believes dogs should *do dog stuff*, so Stanley’s life is one big exploration, with plenty of ball-obsession thrown in for good measure. ⚽️

When Stanley’s love for balls became too much to ignore, Susan decided to give Flyball a try, hoping to help him channel his energy in a more controlled way. Nearly two years later, and the obsession is still as strong as ever—though Susan wouldn’t have it any other way! 😅

When not at flyball or off on an adventure Susan makes crafts for the team to sell to raise money for our events and projects.

One of Susan's proudest moments? Watching Stanley win the club’s very first *Dog of the Year* award. It’s safe to say she’s just as devoted to her mischievous Doodle as he is to his balls! 😜🥰

🚨 Important Update: Red Weather Warning 🚨

With the red weather warning in place for tomorrow, I won’t be doing regular walks. If you’re working and your dog will be home alone, I can swing by for a quick 5-minute round the block for a toilet break. Your dog's comfort and safety are my priority!

For those who have to go to work, please stay safe out there!

A few quick reminders:
- Check your fences to ensure they’re secure, just in case.
- Avoid wooded areas and trees where possible.
-If your dog does escape or get lost are a great resource.

Bella says stay in bed 😂

Let’s all prioritize safety during this weather! 🌧️🐾

🏡✨ Staying Home Tomorrow? Let’s Make the Most of It with Some Dog Training! 🐶❤️

As we’re advised to stay home, and many of you might have the day off work, it’s the perfect opportunity to focus on training your furry friends! Here are a few fun training activities you can do at home:

1. **Basic cues **: Reinforce those sit, stay, and come commands.

2. **Trick Training**: Teach your dog a new trick like roll over or shake paws.

3. **Interactive Games**: Play hide and seek or find the treat to stimulate their mind.

4. **Leash Training**: Practice walking on a leash indoors.

5. **Positive Reinforcement**: Use treats to reward good behavior throughout the day!

Let’s turn this day at home into a productive and enjoyable training session for both you and your pup! 🐾💪

What training activities do you plan to do? Share your ideas in the comments below!

📚 Theory Thursday 📚

“Practice makes perfect” – we’ve all heard this phrase, and it holds true not just for us but for our dogs as well! The more we practice certain tricks, the better our furry friends get at them.

But it’s not just about the tricks! This concept applies to unwanted behaviors too. As dog trainers, we refer to it as the ‘rehearsal of behavior’. For instance, if your dog charges to the door every time the postman arrives, this behavior can quickly become habitual rather than reactive.

So, how can we change this? Instead of letting your dog rehearse this behavior, consider using a house lead. When you see the postman approaching, remove your dog from the door and engage them in a fun game in another room. This way, you’re creating a positive association away from the door.

By consistently doing this every day for a few weeks, you can help your dog develop new behaviors! 🐾✨

What does your dog ‘practice/rehearse’?

🐾 After breaking the news to Halipeño that she can't get her own furry heated blanket because they're a bit pricey, she decided to get creative! She's now on a mission to see if she can make some cash selling her adorable paw pics on Only Paws 😂 Who knew people would be so into paw-dorable photos? 🤣

I absolutely LOVE this photo by Martyn T. Cain Photographer – there's something truly special about it!

Here we have Skittles and Loki showing the Muddy Mutts Flyball team how to cross each other. This is such an important skill for flyball, but it’s also brilliant for everyday walks. I want my dogs to continue past others without stopping or getting distracted, and this moment really captures that focus. 🐾💜

🌟 If Hali the chihuahua can climb a mountain, then you can definitely overcome your challenges too! 💪✨ Remember, just like our furry friends tackle those Scottish mountains, we all have the strength within us to rise above. Let’s support each other on this journey to better mental health. You're never alone in this climb! 🐶❤️

Happy Thursday. I've been quiet on here so far this year but have been busy, busy in the background so apologies if there is a flurry of posts over the next few days. Something happened over the holidays which made me laughand put me in mind of an article I wrote a few years ago and I will reshare it again soon... I was in the supermarket and something I REALLY wanted was right at the back on the top shelf and it was the only one left. In the absence of any tall people to ask for help I went off on a mission to find a long thing to help me prise the prized object towards me. And guess what I finally found a use for...........
A very handy tool for us vertically challenged at the shops but NOT for the park

I’ve always had a passion for animals so this is a natural step for me. I am fully insured and certified in animal first aid so your pets are in safe hands. While working towards a diploma in dog behaviour and psychology I have an abundance of experience working with dogs. I have trained and worked with therapy dogs who work with children with additional support needs and the elderly with dementia. Animals can bring out the best in people even when they have forgotten who they are.
