Terry is about 13 months old and has had a terrible start in life, being on the streets of Scunthorpe for his whole life. This has made him quite nervous, shy and reserved and needing a quiet home. He’s unlikely to be a lap cat but he just needs love and time. He has been fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and parasite treated. Phew, it’s been a hot few days for us and the cats! 🥵
Despite the heat, we’ve:
Found a new home for Tigi who we’re pleased to say is now gone to his lovely home
Received a lovely donation of Royal canin mother & Baby mousse from our Amazon Wishlist, thank you so much!
Got Finnian vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, ready for to find his new home!
Trapped 2 strays and they are now in care
TNR’d 12 kittens and 2 adults
Trapped 1 mum & 6 kittens ♥️ what a week
All these achievements were made by our small and dedicated team of volunteers, who often do their bit for the cats on top of their full time jobs and busy family lives. Though we know our community can be just as passionate about cats and maybe the hot weather can make people a bit hot headed, we want to remind everyone that we give our time to help cats and don’t deserve to be the target of abusive language or threatening behaviour when doing our bit. If this happens, we reserve the right to walk away and inform the police.

Just like us, our cats can be affected by warmer weather. While they may enjoy lying in sunny spots, there is such a thing as too warm – even for a cat! See some top tips below:
➡️ encourage them to stay indoors when the sun is at its warmest (usually between 10am and 3pm)
➡️ provide lots of shady spots for them if they like going outside
➡️ keep their water bowl topped up with fresh water and making sure they have access to water outside, too
➡️ put a fan on indoors to keep the air circulating
➡️ wrap a frozen bottle of water in a towel and putting it near where your cat sleeps (don’t put it directly on your cat or force them to be near it)

Everyone loves a house plant, but did you know that common plants like lilies, daffodils and tulips can be toxic for your cat? Even a small nibble or contact can be dangerous. To keep your cats safe:
➡️ Avoid toxic plants in your home and garden
➡️ make sure there are plenty of interactive toys to keep your cat occupied
➡️ provide cat grass for your cat to chew on

We have some lovely new fundraisers & 3 foster support volunteers, it’s been a chaotic few months with the TNR teams Woodhall & Grimsby trapping nightly/weekly.
Foster spaces are very sparce but the adoption team are doing a great job !! We have 102 cats/kittens in our area waiting for a space 🥹

Morning all, we volunteers have been up at the crack of dawn today getting ready for upcoming fundraising events, trapping cats & kittens for TNR, bathing poopy bum kittens ! Oh lol not to mention the many handrears at present phew. Some vet trips this morning and that’s all before lunch and after a 60 hour week at work for some.
The adoption team are busy doing admin today ( Sunday) to make sure our cats/kittens are going to the right home.
We are Cats protection volunteers ( unpaid) in our spare time.

At some point if you volunteer for CP you will see at least once at least…. horrors beyond belief You will have to make decisions no one should have to make You will have to choose which cats to help or not because of lack of spaces You will question yourselves time and time again how could these poor cats/kittens have been abandoned. Queens terrified their kittens will be injured and so they end it themselves or carry their babies to a hopeful doorstep. In my time with cats protection we’ve reunited, adopted, saved, relocated, repaired so many cats. Without your help it wouldn’t be possible. In uncertain times you all have helped fulfilling wish lists, donations, and most of all ADOPTED our cats, kittens and golden oldies. Please if you are thinking of adoption a cat/kitten inbox us, a cat which is adopted opens up a much needed space for the next one 🐈⬛🐈 need you ♥️
Stumpy is a 6 year old female who came into care due to her owner passing away. She was already named before arriving with us, has a stumpy tail and nervous personality. She likes a stroke on the head and a little fuss when she wants it. She needs a quiet home to retire to, where she can hide in her blankets and come to you if she wants you, but no cats, dogs or children. Flump, he’s the big boy of the group with white and grey fur, 8 months 18 days old. He’s been the slowest to come out of his shell but he’s definitely more curious now. His fosterer thinks he needs time and doesn’t see why he wouldn’t turn into a loving cat 😊 he’s definitely shown an interest in play and he won’t turn down a nearby treat! These beautiful babies were one of the many hand rear litters that our dedicated team of fosterers have helped this year.
