Not pet related but our Son plays for Crofton and attended the fantastic gala over the bank holiday which was a great success for everyone involved.

Some mindless idiots thought it would be a good idea to set fire to the clubs equipment costing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

🐱🐱🐱Cattery Availability for August🐱🐱🐱.
We have just had a cattery become available from the 19th August. These are gold dust right now so if anyone wants a cattery from Monday 19th you can book it on our website www.oakenshawkennels.co.uk there is a minimum stay on this cattery of 7 days as its the busiest month of the calendar year. First come first served. We hope this can help somebody as we are constantly getting messages saying they have been let down last minute. Please share

Good evening to everyone.
We would just like to try and help as many people as possible with a few helpful tips. If you are open to dates for going on holiday then its worthwhile emailing [email protected] with some dates you can work with and how long you need.

We have live availability on our booking system so it is quite easy for us to check what we have, offer you some dates so that it takes the stress out of missing kennel space whilst you are booking your holidays. Ideally, planning in advance is the way to go.

We have over 60 customers currently on waiting lists for the end of July and August. The same happened last year. We have had some many calls/emails from customers who have once again been let down. Unfortunately we cannot help everyone.

Also note that we have different kennel blocks for different dogs, one block for the larger breeds, reactive dogs, and one block for the elderly and smaller dogs. This takes a lot of working out at our end but it also means we keep the place peaceful which has worked extremely well this last 10 years. Wow 10 years, where has that gone? On the 1st August we will have been here for 10 wonderful years and we have built a fantastic reputation thanks to all of you, our lovely customers who take your time to write reviews and recommend us to friends and family.

Our customer base continues to grow and we have a number of customers that now travel from all over the Country to board with us including a lovely little JRT from Scotland, amazing!

So really this is just a little helpful hand, if you want to use us, organisation is key. We will work with you as best we can. Sorry for our lack of Facebook posts but we are extremely busy with lots of things to do and the next few months are crazy.

Good evening,
We say this every year, before booking a holiday, it’s worth checking with us what our availability is first, then try and work around that.

There is nothing worse when somebody emails saying “ I’ve just booked my holiday, but your showing no availability” we are getting busier year on year so if possible, check with us what we have and any dates you are flexible with.
That way we can help you plan.

A polite reminder not to leave booking in this year until the last minute, we are already full for some of the weeks, and based on last year, it looks like it will be the same or busier.

You can book on our website and check availability.
Please note if you book, your deposit needs paying within 12 hours of acceptance, otherwise it will be automatically removed and your place wont be guaranteed.

We are also loosing some kennels this year as we are doubling the size of some of them. This will of course, impact what we have available.

Please remember to keep your dogs in the vehicle when you arrive and make sure they are secure when you open the boot.
Our opening times are 10am-12noon and 3pm-4:30pm Monday to Saturday and we are closed for arrivals and departures on Sundays and Bank holidays.

One final thing, we do not offer day care or short stays in peak season unless its an agreed trial.

We often get asked if we provide a pick up and drop off service. Unfortunately we dont however we do know somebody that can and we would highly recommend them. Pets 2 Places Pontefract -Chris is your go to guy. He also does vet runs as well as other things. Give their page a like!

Moving on from this mornings posts I would probably say it would be best to contact us first to check availability before booking your holidays or try the online booking system first and foremost. We have had around 70 bookings come through this morning since the post was made and a load of enquiries. I would try and work around available dates in the kennels, book that and then look at booking a holiday around it. We hope this advice helps. We have already had to say no to a few enquiries as the dates they needed we are full.

Good morning, if you are planning on going away in summer next year, we would highly advise emailing us with the dates you need if its showing as not available on the booking system. Alternatively it would be wise to check availability first with us before booking a holiday as we already have some dates where we are now full. Another kennels locally is also closing in December so once again we have had another influx of new customers and we are expecting more. We do not want anyone disappointed so please email [email protected] if you need any help with anything.

Please remember not to walk your dogs in this heat. The humidity is also high. Tarmac will be red hot, they don't need to be walked, they would prefer you to leave them in the cooler house. Keep them safe

Please note that we are filling up fast for Christmas this year and also most of next year. This year we have had waiting lists running into hundreds of customers during June/July and August. If you want to use us then its very important that you book in early. Even more important if your dog needs a certain kennel. August 24 we are already at 80% occupancy. There are already dates we are full as well for next year.

Please can we remind everyone to read our terms on our website, there is some useful information on that page which has been updated.

Reception is closed Sundays, and as of the 1st October our new opening hours will commence.
Monday to Saturday 10am-12noon and 3pm-4:30pm
We have decided to reduce reception hours due to wasting a number of hours each week waiting on customers dropping off and collecting and not arriving when they said. Our time is precious so it makes more sense to squeeze everything in to the hours above. Please make sure when booking kennels or the cattery that you check your flight times, give yourself plenty of time. We have had several people this year saying they need their pets keeping an extra day due to delays at the airport (this is not always possible when we are full). Also book your kennels or cattery, then book your holiday. The amount of people doing the opposite to then find out we are full. Pet care is in demand across the Country and its only going to get worst for owners so its important to secure your space early.

Please can we ask all customers to read our terms and conditions. If you cancel within 14 days of your arrival date, the amount owing is still due. If you don't stick to the terms then you wont be allowed to book with us again. Unfortunately this applies to everyone, regardless of reason, we are a small business and this effects us massively hence why these terms are in place

Please note, if you receive a deposit request email a few days before you are due to stay, its actually requesting any outstanding balance. Banks have tightened up security now and it is resulting in us needing you to login to apps to approve payments. This can be done whilst your at home and the main benefit if its done at home is that it saves us so much time in reception booking you in, especially when we are busy.

Its totally safe and secure to do it this way, so please dont think its requesting the deposit again, if you read the bottom of the email it will explain, but some people have missed that and just read the part requesting the deposit

Just a polite reminder, we do not open reception for drop off or collection on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
We open 9am-12noon prompt
3pm-5pm prompt
On the days we are open.

We are getting numerous emails via the website asking for availability from Sunday or collecting Sunday. The same with bank holidays.
There is a page on our website also dedicated to dates reception is also closed for other reasons. This is to help customers plan their holidays.

Please whilst we are on the subject of hours etc we do not answer the phones after 5pm, between 12 noon and 3pm nor do we answer at 6am😫.

Good evening, please note if you do an online booking, it is advisable to pay your deposit asap to secure your space, already this week we have had a number of people not pay then when they have got back in touch we have had no space as the kennel has gone, no deposit, no booking.....

We do accept bookings almost immediately on most occasions so please act on the emails you receive otherwise you may be disappointed.

Our customer base is continually growing and today we had somebody travel to us all the way from Glasgow, why? because nobody would take her reactive Jack Russell.

Unfortunate that the customer has to travel such a distance but it also is a reminder how much in demand we are. April we are now full for Easter and June, July and August are almost the same so please do not leave things last minute.

As we move into busy periods again could we please ask that you try and stick to the times that you have put down for drop off and collection. If there are any changes to these times then please email us [email protected] to let us know. This is really useful to us as it helps with keeping everyone and their pets safe.

Also on arrival please do not bring your pets into reception, our staff will collect them from the car. A number of dogs have been scent marking in reception and we have just replaced all the flooring so moving forward we would like to keep your pets out of that area to keep it hygenic.

This is a polite reminder, if you are heading away this year then please book early. We are already over 50% booked up for May/June/July and August and we are averaging 20 new bookings per day.
If you make a booking on our website please remember to pay your deposit within 12 hours otherwise it will not be confirmed.
