So now that I have set up my new business
Sarah Heyes Dog Behaviour I will be posting on this page less.

It’s getting a bit confusing posting on multiple pages and my brain can’t cope! 🤯 So in order to reclaim some sort of sanity, I’ll just be posting on my new page.

But never fear! Im still offering my dog walking and pet sitting service in New Mills alongside the Behaviour and training stuff.

This adorable little face is Ruby and she’s been a superstar today. She’s learning to spend short periods of time on her own while her owners are at work. She managed 2 hours today, broken up with a half hour visit from me. We had a play in the snow and some indoor enrichment games, before settling back in her crate. Learning to be alone for short periods is an essential life skill for puppies. Ruby has made great progress. Well done Ruby 🌟🐾

The adorable faces of Peggy and Pablo. It’s their first week walking with me and it’s all about building that relationship of trust. Peggy has been a bit anxious when I come into her home, but by taking things at her pace, slowly and gently, she is doing great.

The APBC does not believe, and sees no evidence, that banning a particular breed/type of dog has worked in the past, or will work now.

There is no evidence that the American XL Bully and its variations are more predisposed to aggressive and erratic behaviour, than other dogs.

Regardless of breed, type or size, all dogs, including American XL Bullies, require responsible ownership.

Clearly, the stronger and more powerful the dog, the greater the responsibility on us humans to keep everyone safe.

The APBC recommends that a more considered approach is required to address the growing problem of dog-related injuries.

The situation is complex and an effective solution involves addressing the breeding and responsible sourcing of dogs, education on responsible dog ownership and enforcing animal welfare laws in order to protect both the public and dogs.

Little Billy is a bit poorly so I’ve adapted his visits from a half hour walk to a shorter potter and plenty of time for cuddles. He’s loving the cuddles (as do I!) Look at that gorgeous face ❤️

Nothing like wading through research papers on a hot afternoon! I’m trying to narrow down a subject for my canine behaviour dissertation. Problem is it’s all just so fascinating. I want to study it all!! 🐾

Cat stairs! My cats love being high up, so with the addition of a few steps, they can now reach new lairs. Richard is especially loving his new perch!

Update: Thanks to all who looked for him today he has been found. Unfortunately, it was very sad news. Our deepest sympathy to his family at this very sad and difficult time. He was so very loved ♥️🌈😞.

One of our clients cats from Appletree Road area in New Mills is missing - please keep your eyes open for Bracken and spread the word to check sheds and garages! Let us know if he is spotted - his family are very worried!

Summer holidays are fast approaching and it is time to make plans for your furry friends. My pet sitting service is booking up fast, but I still have availability from 14-25 August for visits in New Mills. Drop me a message! 🐾

So with the glorious weather that has been forecast for next week, my priority is to make sure that every dog is safe in the sun. I will be adjusting walks as appropriate:

🐾 By walking earlier in the day
🐾 By sticking to shade as much as possible
🐾 By cutting walks short if necessary
🐾 By sticking to garden play if needed
🐾 By cancelling non-essential walks
🐾 By providing lots of drinking water

I will be in touch to discuss individual arrangements.
