On friday morning, the van decided to stop working at the end of drop-offs, and I had to call the RAC. After waiting an hour and a half outside a clients house, the RAC arrived, only for the van to start, and I managed to get it home. The RAC seemed to think this is probably due to the start motor sticking when the engine gets hot. Today, we made the mistake of turning the engine off whilst popping around the corner into Sainsbury's, and it wouldn't restart until the engine was cold 15 minutes later. After driving to Telford and back afterwards, we've just tested if it'd start with a hot engine, and sure enough, it's dead on the driveway.
As my job requires the engine to start hot during drop offs and collections, I'm unfortunately going to have to cancel this weeks walks until I can get it into mechanic to fix. Due to the bank holiday on Monday, I can't call and get it seen until Tuesday morning at the earliest. Hopefully, they can get it in and fixed ASAP, and I'll be back on the road this week, but please consider this week cancelled until further notice. I will keep you all updated and fingers crossed it'll only be a day or two affected, and I'll be back before next weekend.
Hugest apologies for the disruption. The van is our only vehicle, so I'm scuppered until it's reliable again. I will look at getting a temporary vehicle if it's a long fix, but again, I can't really see to this until I've spoken to the mechanic.
