The APBC does not believe, and sees no evidence, that banning a particular breed/type of dog has worked in the past, or will work now.

There is no evidence that the American XL Bully and its variations are more predisposed to aggressive and erratic behaviour, than other dogs.

Regardless of breed, type or size, all dogs, including American XL Bullies, require responsible ownership.

Clearly, the stronger and more powerful the dog, the greater the responsibility on us humans to keep everyone safe.

The APBC recommends that a more considered approach is required to address the growing problem of dog-related injuries.

The situation is complex and an effective solution involves addressing the breeding and responsible sourcing of dogs, education on responsible dog ownership and enforcing animal welfare laws in order to protect both the public and dogs.

I was shocked to hear of the death of my training mentor and friend, John Rogerson.

I met John in 2013 at his incredible month-long training event in India hosted by the wonderful Shirin Merchant.

Since then I have attended all of his courses with the hope of passing on some of his great wisdom to my own eager learners.

John had an incredible understanding of both dogs' behaviour and human behaviour as well as being a true artist himself.

He will be missed but his legacy will live on and be built upon by Miya and other great trainers keen to do the very best they can for dogs living with us in our communities.

Here is a reminder of Bailey.

Bailey is a gorgeous, 9 month old Greyhound type dog. He is a big friendly giant looking for a family to call his own. Bailey is a fantastic total people pleaser and is always smiling.
Due to his size and being so bouncy he would be best suited in a home with older children (10 years plus). He is dog friendly so may be able to live with another dog given a good introduction but no cats or small animals. His ideal home would be with someone who is active as he loves to run!!
Once settled into his new home Bailey would make a loving companion

My Story

I have always loved animals. One of my earliest memories is discovering a kitten in a box in our living room and being delirious with joy. Since then caring for animals was a constant and continuous passion including stray dogs, cats, rodents, injured birds and reptiles! Caring for other people’s animals through the Cinnamon Trust and RSPCA opened my eyes to the incredible diversity of people’s relationships with their pets. I sought out and trained with the best in order to provide a first class service helping people with their pet dogs and cats. I continue to work closely with the same charities in the spirit of nurturing and sharing the benefits of my experience and education.

I provide 1-2-1 training, covering all the essential skills to help make your companion dog a much envied and loved member of the community. I am qualified to offer behavioural counselling for those challenged with more serious problems being a provisional member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC), which means having gained the relevant academic qualifications I am gaining the practical experience necessary for full membership.
