A few months ago I didn't know that the start of our journey together was so close to become something real. Today our calendars have bookings every month until September 2025, and I just registered with the Companies House as the director of Pawsome Kingdoms Ltd.

Which is in-sa-ne.

I have always been passionate towards anything related with animals, to the point where I would only feel safe when surrounded by them. Which is why I prioritise making them feel safe around me, now us.

Thanks to you, your trust in me, in Matt and now in Cam, I am making this my day-to-day and it just transforms my weeks in a brighter and powerful thing, easy to go through, with hope and a comforting sense of belonging. And it gives me the strength to fight for what I love, which is them, which was her.

I was hers, now I am theirs.

Thank you for being by my side on this incredible adventure.

A massive THANKYOU! to Heather Doyal HD Pet Styling

This is for educational purposes Bubbles And Brushes Pet Grooming. do offer all clients a free lesson in the thorough brushing and maintenance of their pet.

This is the rescue that came to me a few days ago.

Due to the severity of the matting I thought about sending to a vet for sedation and clip off, this can cost the owner 100s of pounds.
I Sought further advice from HD pet styling in Darwin who kindly offered to assist me with this difficult case ,as I did not want to cause the little doggie any distress or injury. Heather Doyle is a very experienced groomer and has dealt with many welfare cases in her time as a Groomer.

The doggie is a rescue, and has only had her a few days, the owner has been given all the advice she needs about maintaining her coat so please do not comment about this being a poor owner. We know nothing about the situation prior to her being rescued.

This is sadly what happens when you dont get your dog or cat groomed professionally and you dont brush and the comb properly and daily . The coat matts up and becomes impossible to do anything with it other than shave it down.

Groomers do not enjoy doing this nor is it being lazy or taking the easy route. She took almost 2 hours to shave off an a 0.5mm blade ,that is essentially a surgical blade used to prep a dog prior to a spay for example. I had to use such a short blade because that was all that could get betweenthe matting and her skin. We have to go so slowly to prevent injury because as you shave away the matting the skin gets pinched up into a tent ,like if you pinch and pull up the loose skin on the back of your hand. If you try to shave too quickly that pinched up skin can slip between the blades and slice it open in a very big wound that needs stitches.

It is emotionally ,mentally and physically hard for groomers to work with dogs like this. It breaks our hearts . We would much rather do a fluffy cut than something like this .

A dog in this condition could also have pre existing issues like hot spots, traction alopecia (where the matting has been ripped from the skin) bruising from the matting ,skin problems, infections , open wounds .these are not the groomers fault.

Any long coated breeds need regular grooming every 4-6 weeks with daily brushing and combing if you want a fluffy hair cut or 6-8 weeks if you want a short cut with weekly brushing and combing .

With summer on its way, I want to put out some information regarding grooming and your double coated dogs. I’ve gotten many requests to shave them or cut them down fairly far and I think it is important to understand why groomers will either deny that request or talk owners out of it.

Double coated breeds include:
Husky, Chow Chow, Pomeranians, Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Newfoundland, Great Pyrenees, Corgi, Border Collies, Collies, And German Shepherd.

After being shaved, there is only a 50% chance your dogs double coat will recover over a significant amount of time

Myth: Shaving a double coated dog keeps them cooler

Truth: Shaving them destroys the natural airflow circulation created between the space between the undercoat and the guard coat

Instead: Get a de-shedding treatment! This helps get a lot of the downey undercoat; cooling and flattening the coat. A slight trim to shape up the coat ( mane, tail, feet, feathering) along with a deshed will lighten the coat and help manage the amount of fur while keeping the coat healthy

More reasons to not shave your double coated dog:

1. It can lead to a kind of alopecia (patchy hair loss), which may lead to permanent bald spots or a change in hair texture.

2. They still shed! Only the hairs are tiny now

3. Your dog is now at risk of sunburn.

4. It destroys the coat’s natural ability to regulate dogs body temperature.

5. Your dogs double coat is more likely to mat as it regrows.

The only reason to shave a double coated dog is if the coat is pelted. This is severe matting that is close to the skin that cannot be brushed out (this is painful to the dog) and is restricting airflow to the skin. Pelted fur leads to yeast infections, hematomas, f***l matting, urine burns, fleas, and irritated skin.want to put out some information regarding grooming and your double coated dogs. I’ve gotten many requests to shave them or cut them down fairly far and I think it is important to understand why groomers will either deny that request or talk owners out of it

I hope this info has helped.
