Feral cats and microchipping.

We have received several enquiries from people who are feeding feral colonies about microchipping. The new regulations only relate to domestic cats so as long as feral cats are neutered and ear tipped you don't need to trap them and get them chipped. Ear tipping is the recognised way of identifying that a cat is a neutered feral or unowned "community cat".

From the 10th of June all pet cats in England must be microchipped! Tag a fellow cat lover to ensure their cat has the best chance of being reunited if they ever get lost.

Making sure your cat is microchipped should be a top priority. Microchipping your cat gives them the best chance of being identified and returned to you if they are lost or stolen.

Bonnie is still waiting for her forever home. We’ve had a fair few enquiries but most people want her for her looks and are not reading her write up carefully.

Bonnie needs an experienced owner, who understands cat behaviour, indoor home only, has NO other pets or young children. We cannot guarantee Bonnie would ‘behave’ around them. She comes with 6 months behavioural support as well as all the necessary checks, vaccines etc

If you are in rented accommodation please apply, we will just need to see your rental agreement allowing cats

Bonnie is an affectionate 5 year old cat, who, once settled, will make a great companion. She enjoys spending time in peoples company but will need a home with understanding adopters who are patient and willing to work with her to build a strong bond before having hands on contact.

With a penchant for food and a love for playing with feather fishing-rod style toys, Bonnie has her unique preferences that make her a delightful addition to any home. Bonnie hasn’t had outside access before and she would thrive in a calm environment without children or other animals, although she may consider sharing a space with older teens.

This lovely boy is still looking for his forever home.

Gorgeous Mickey is 15 years young. He's looking for a quiet new home with a garden he can potter around in.

He will need to be an only pet with an experienced cat owner who is used to spicy cats - he is lovely but likes everything on his own terms and can be grumpy at times.

He came to us as his previous owner went into care, and he came to us with bad ears which seem to be caused by an allergy and is on medication for thyroid. Cats Protection will sponsor him and pay for any vet bills and medication relating to the two conditions.

He is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and ready to go.

If you are that special person that could give Mickey his forever retirement home we would love to hear from you.

From June 10th compulsory microchipping for all owned cats* comes into effect.

You may have already got your cat chipped but have you checked their microchip has been correctly registered and that your contact details are up-to-date? The new legislation makes this the responsibility of the cat owner and you could be fined if the information is not correct.

Can't find your cat's chip details? Your vet should have that information on file so give them a ring.

*kittens and cats over 20 weeks old.

Thank you all for your continuing donations of food for the cats. We are extremely grateful for your support.

We often get donated prescription foods. If we don’t have cats currently needing specialist food, we store it until needed, either by ourselves or another local Cats Protection branch.

Over the weekend we spotted a plea from another small charity Feline Fine Foundation, they were asking for renal food, for a cat they had in care. We had a small amount in stock and were pleased to be able to help.
