Remember, if itโ€™s too hot for your hands or your bare feet, then itโ€™s too hot for their paw pads! โš ๏ธ

If youโ€™re unsure whether itโ€™s okay to let your pet go for a walk on pavements, a simple way to test the temperature is by holding your bare skin on the tarmac for five seconds โฑ๏ธ

If you find it painful, then your pet will find it painful to walk on!

To protect your pet, itโ€™s best to avoid walks during the hottest part of the day, which is usually between 8am and 6pm. If you can't safely exercise your dog, missing a day won't hurt.

A bittersweet end to the week ๐Ÿ˜” This week I said goodbye to Milo. He was almost 6 months old and the first dog to come on board after I had decided to start this business back up again. The very first dog! Over the past (almost) 3 years we've grown together, through the high and lows, blood, sweat and tears. When I think of Milo it's impossible not to think about how much we've grown, both as a business - at the time we were sending invoices by text and I was using my car. Now we have a booking system, 2 walkers with 2 vans, a shop and a training qualification - but also as a person. He's taught me so much and we're both going to miss your big personality on a weekly basis. I am so proud of this little fluff ball! He pulls, to the point his tongue turns blue and he started to get walked less because of it. In the second video we were practicing on his normal walk route - the owner had run out of treats, which is why he wasn't rewarded, BUT look at that walking ๐Ÿ˜ he didn't choke himself, he walked beautifully. Progress isn't about perfection, this is just happy walking in progress. Then we switched up the location, treat pouch reloaded. Winter normally gets out of the car like a bull, so we practiced calmness and eye contact. Then, a group of cubs rocked up. He did incredible, no barking and kept offering eye contact. We practiced the loose lead walking and ended with a happy dog and an owner with a smile ear to ear ๐Ÿ˜ #looseleadwalking #looseleadwalkingtraining #positivereinforcement #happydog #apassionfurpets

Day one of walking Archie and I was holding onto the lead, with both hands, praying I could keep 2 feet on the floor. Day 2 and I wanted to give up walking him, thought I'd taken on too much. If I wanted to keep my arms in their sockets and to keep walking him daily, we had to be on the same page. A week of positive training and consistency has made a huge difference ๐Ÿฅฐ I now don't have to worry about dislocating an arm or being dragged across a field on my belly ๐Ÿ˜‚

We went for a lovely afternoon walk and I took the opportunity to reinforce my pups natural behaviour of checking in on me. We also practiced some recall when we saw people because he likes to say hello to absolutely everyone ๐Ÿ˜‚
