Such a lovely client review that makes me smile inside and out. Hoopers is such a great sport, I love seeing the progression and the bond and trust that is built with dog and handler during my Hoopers courses 😀

A little heel work homework practise with Jim at the weekend adding a stop. Really enjoying our new adventure together and Jimmy is enjoying it too. It's my turn to be told what to do and how to do it which is nice for a change. Next we are going to be working on turns, that's going to make my head hurt 😂
Congratulations and very well done to The Junior Hoopers Group. They have improved so much over the last few weeks. Such a great group and lovely to work with. I love my Friday mornings with them, looking forward to the next six weeks. Here are three from the group showing off their rosettes ❤️❤️
Spider in the shop!!!!!! 🤣
The boys having a bit of fun yesterday morning 😀
A little Hoopers practise with McGee in between rain showers 😀
HOOPERS
Do you have a young dog 6 months or over? I have two spaces available on my next 6 week Junior Hoopers course starting on Friday the 28th June at 9.30am at my High Wycombe venue. Course price £72.00. There is no class on Friday the 12th July. For more information or to book your place, please contact [email protected]. 😀
SCENTWORK
Another great evening of searches at Chiltern Hills Farm. The dogs had to cope with lots of distracting odours and swirling air currents to get to the target odour. All teams worked really hard and learnt ways to handle their dogs in difficult environments. 😀
Looks like the shops closed today!
McGee: Oh no Jim, I've locked myself out, I can see my keys on the counter.
Jimmy: Stupid terrier.
😂😂
SCENTWORK
Great searches from my Super Sniffer groups at West Wycombe yesterday. The wall area is very environmental lots of distraction odours on the ground and on the wall but all teams handled the areas very well to find their target odour. Well done everyone 😀
Jimmy, you are such a Dude 🤣
BEGINNER AGILITY SPACE

Where's my shop roof gone? McGee..... 🤣
Great scentwork class today. The teams were working high hides and were brilliant. The hide in this photo is in the white crate suspended from the top of the gazebo. Well done Zoe for finding it 😀
Two years ago today my boy crossed the rainbow bridge. It was the saddest day of my life losing my gentle giant. It was a privilege to share eight and a half years with him and I have so many happy memories. Love you always my gorgeous Gibbs ❤️
For those of you that remember Play School, today McGee is looking through the round window 😂😂
Happy Bank Holiday Monday 😀
Great classes, super searches this morning, well done to all the teams 😀
You got enough toys there Jimmy? 🤣
Congratulations and very well done to Marie and Bentley for passing Canine Hoopers World Level 5. Such a great team 😀
Jimmy's idea of what to do on a rainy day 🤣
You know when you want to take a family photo and there is that one kid that always moves, well............. 🤣😂
Friday funny 😂
Yesterday I took my lovely boy to a competitive obedience workshop. I had a great day and learnt so much, we did heel work, positions and retrieves working on his hold. Jimmy was so good and worked hard. It's so good to try something new and it is definitely something I want to do more of, watch this space 🙂
More very proud sniffers from yesterdays Club and Bronze ScentOps trial 😀
The lovely Norman was not going to let anyone get hold of his rosette, he was very proud of it 😀
It was a great Scent Ops trial yesterday, high scores in both classes. A difficult one to judge. Well done to everyone who took part, you are all winners in my eyes 🙂
The winner of the CLUB Trial was Beth and Rupert (left) and the BRONZE was won by Carolyn and Ruby (right). Congratulations to both teams 🥳
If your dog is acting strangely this could be why or more sensitive than usual 🙂
Solar storms and how it may impact your dogs.
Scientific studies have repeatedly demonstrated that dogs are sensitive to geomagnetic changes.
Currently the earth is experiencing a powerful solar storm. It's effects on our dogs should not be underestimated. Especially our sensitive working dogs who are bred to have a heightened sense of direction. Dogs who are anxious or nervous may experience exacerbated symptoms. Dogs are sensitive to even small changes in the earth's magnetic field, this current storm is big and disruptive.
Epileptic dogs and people may be affected. There is a huge body of evidence relating to solar storms and seizures, have a little Google, there's too many relevant bits of literature to post here.
What can you do? Dogs are at increased risk of becoming disorientated in new environments, keep them on lead, in sight, have a heightened awareness of where they are. For dogs who rely on their sense of direction for work such as sheepdogs working hills, search and rescue dogs, tracking dogs, hunting dogs and trail dogs, it might be worth evaluating putting off any work where a dog may get lost. This is not me being a f***y either, I've already heard of a couple of normally savvy dogs becoming lost and disoriented in the north of Scotland, out of character for them.
In humans existing mental health conditions can worsen temporarily, particularly conditions caused by or associated with trauma, where your integral ability to orientate becomes distrupted and makes you feel unsafe, increasing anxiety and hypervigilance. This change in your presentation can also impact your dogs.
Just something to be aware of. As much as it sounds like hippy woo woo nonsense, I can assure you, it's a thing.
"the idea that animals can detect Earth’s magnetic field has traveled the path from ridicule to well-established fact in little more than one generation. Dozens of experiments have now shown that diverse animal species, ranging from bees to salamanders to sea turtles to birds, have internal compasses. Some species use their compasses to navigate entire oceans, others to find better mud just a few inches away."

Jimmy is loving doing Hoopers. He loves it when he can accelerate 😀 I need to practise my throwing though 😂
Luckily just managed to video the end of a great search and a super indication from my super sniffer Jimmy 😍
Super morning with my Junior Hoopers group, they were all amazing. Here is the lovely Stanley in action. Adolescent dogs can find it difficult to concentrate on obedience exercises but combine it with something fun it's a game changer 😀
Jimmy has been very impulsive even from a pup. He found it hard to control his emotions and when he hit adolescence this increased. However using the exercise below and others, has significantly changed his behaviour by teaching him to basically hold it together and you will get what you want. He can now look and think calmly. The exercise below is achieved once you have taught a Wait and then add layers to build up to what you see in the video. If you would like help with exercises like this please contact [email protected] 😀
Today Jimmy had a little Hoopers practise, he was excellent, this was only his second time of doing Hoopers. He picks things up so quickly and he loved it ❤️
I had a lovely afternoon with the boys at Chiltern Hills Farm Dog Field yesterday and thank you Beth for taking the video of Jimmy doing a little bit of training. He was such a good boy and really enjoys working 😀
Week four of my new Puppy/Junior Hoopers group and they are doing incredibly well. This group are all adolescent which can be a tricky time for both the dog and their human to negotiate. Combining our general training with a fun activity like Hoopers helps to keep the engagement with the human and away from the distraction of other dogs around them. There are four other dogs behind the camera but this pup is working beautifully with his handler 😀
The simplest, cheapest toys are always the best. Jimmy managed to get the ice out of an outdoor water bowl and had a great time with it 😀
Nice morning for agility, started with a 121 with the lovely Albert and then my group class. Well done everyone 😀
In this video Mcgee has to think a little harder as there are gaps to negotiate. A nice little workout for him today 😀
