https://www.oldies.org.uk/2024/narah-dogs-trust-kenilworth-fostered-west-midlands 🐾

Narah is a 13-year-old crossbreed who is looking for a peaceful forever home. We're told she is a very affectionate, people-friendly dog, who could live with older, dog-friendly children who respected her need for naps and peace 💤. She loves company and would love a home were there's usually someone around, to help her relax. Narah wants to be the only animal in the home.

🌳 Narah enjoys peaceful walks in nature 🌳. She can react to other dogs, though this has improved, but she'd still prefer walks at quiet places and times of day. She loves going in the car and enjoys a bit of a gallop and roll in the grass. She has fun going off-lead in a secure field.

According to Narah's rescue, even with a touch of arthritis, she is remarkably lively, but she is seeking a nicely predictable life of walkies, fuss and treats. Might you be the person(s) to be able to offer that to her? Please see her page for more photos and rehoming information and contact her rescue, Dogs Trust Kenilworth, with any adoption enquiries, via the contact details given at the bottom of her page:

~ We're sure our supporters are very clued up on how to best take care of their beloved dogs during fireworks by now, but a very last-minute share of the Dogs Trust's last-minute tips.

It's best to take your dog out for walks and toilet breaks before dark during these times (and then later, once the noise has hopefully stopped), though we realise that doesn't entirely rule out the possibility of fireworks.

If you do *need* to take your dog outside while fireworks are actually being set off nearby, please take them out on their collar/harness and lead, staying with them, even in the garden. Dogs have been known to scale walls or bring down fencing in sheer panic when they would usually stay within the safe boundaries of their garden.

We wish you the most peaceful evening(s) possible 🐾

(We know it's an important topic for many, but please keep any responses polite. Thank you.)

Fireworks night is now more fireworks season and whilst they might be fun for us, the loud bangs and flashing lights can be extremely distressing for dogs 😥

If you’ve not been able to prepare ahead, here are some last-minute tips to help them during fireworks themselves:

• Block out flashes and bangs. Close any windows or curtains and turn the lights on. Put on music or the TV to help disguise the noise.

• If your dog wants to hide, let them stay where they feel safe.

• If they seek reassurance, calmly give them attention and comfort. Research shows that ignoring them won’t help.

• If your dog doesn’t seem worried, then it’s best to keep them busy with their favourite toys, treats or activities so they don’t become anxious.

• Try to stay calm and relaxed yourself. Your dog will pick up on how you’re feeling, so do your best to relax.

• If your dog makes a mess by accident, avoid telling them off as this might make them feel more scared.

Jax is a nine-year-old crossbreed, who is looking for a home within the Greater Manchester/northwest area. He loves the opportunity to say hello to people, and welcomes fuss or treats, but does prefer to approach people on his own terms. He gets on well with other dogs when out and about, but is looking to be the only animal in his forever home, as he likes his own space to relax. He is looking for a home without resident or visiting children.

We're told that Jax loves his walks, but is also fond of a lazy day, being very adaptable and happy to fit into your routine. He is easy to please, with a treat or a play with a toy - his favourite being his octopus teddy! 🐙

He has been known to resource guard, so his rescue would prefer his adopters have some experience with that, which can be easily managed in the right home ✨

Please see Jax's page for more photos of the gorgeous boy, including some with his carers, along with further rehoming information. If you feel you can offer him the forever home he's looking for, please contact his rescue, Dogs4Rescue, via the contact details at the bottom of his page:

~ Very pleased to be able to update this post wih the wonderful news that Reon was adopted this week! ✨

****************
This beautiful girl is not an oldie, but she is in urgent need of a foster/end-of-life home, as her rescue is desperate to find her a loving home environment for her to enjoy home comforts and lots of TLC for her remaining time.
https://www.oldies.org.uk/2024/reon-rescue-remedies-kennelled-surrey

Reon is a three-year-old Akita, who very sadly has a rapidly declining kidney condition. She can live with older children and friendly dogs, apart from terriers. She is seeking a home without cats.

Reon's rescue tells us, "We are very upset and coming to terms with the sad news. She is such a special dog and we are happy to home her individually if that means she gets out of kennels sooner, so we capitalise on what time she has left."

Some comments from Reon's volunteer dog walkers:

"This was my first walk with Reon... She was very welcoming in her kennel and went for a full on friendly hug with paws on my shoulders."

"She was a bit unsure at first, but she then relaxed into the walk... She walked with slack leads and enjoyed sniffing about. I felt like walking a beautiful teddy bear.”

"Reon, the bestest friend you could wish for. A big sweetheart, with a soft and gentle soul. Very loving girl who loves her kisses and most of all, her cuddles. Reon has a playful side, whether that’s zooming/bouncing around the paddocks, playing with her toys or playing games with you.”

Reon arrived in rescue with her brother, Haruto, who is sill waiting for a home too - if you felt able to offer a home to both dogs, their rescue would love to hear from you!

Please see Reon's page for more photos of the lovely girl (and her brother), along with further rehoming information and detail on her kidney condition. Please contact her rescue, Rescue Remedies, if you feel you would be suitable to foster Reon for the rest of her life:
