Meet Samos, Egyptian Arabian.
Lots of character and a lot to say.
Samos came to me to work on his bolshy demeanor and his refusal of accepting the rider's cues.
Rearing during lunging and ridden work was his "go to place" and although not acceptable, he sure made an impressive picture when up on his hind legs, just standing there, still as a statue... In the right hands he would make a fantastic show horse and I won't lie...I felt tempted.
After an easy two weeks I started to up the workload and did longer sessions, which Samos benefits from as he likes a slow warm up.
Rearing has become a thing of the past and although he is still in need of regular work, his loving owner is more than capable to take over the routines .
After 5 weeks Samos gave me an quiet canter, even a little slow sometimes, but that's just fine for the time being as the worst thing I could do right now is to over do things.
He's now reunited with his owner in Glasgow Scotland (long haul to pick up and drop off 😅!!) and I'll be visiting again later on this month just to make sure he's not up to his old antics again.
It's always a matter of growing and learning together for trainer, owner and horse. 👍
