A month on from Albert’s first physio session with the wonderful Lucy from and I am so pleased to hear that our homework has been paying off!

Albs has increased his muscle mass in his back end as a result of the exercises Lucy gave us to do and he also seems to be in much less pain which is great news 😅

We still have a way to go, to see if we can improve his overall gait and stability but to see such progress and to know we are helping him feels such a joy!

Thank you Lucy for your careful, kind and astute approach to Albert’s strength training, I’m learning SO much too! 🤓

Albs had a great first physio session today with Lucy who we saw at Albert’s vet 🐾 ♥️

I first noticed changes in Albert’s coat in January this year (see pics in this post) and I knew that a zigzag pattern across the spine can indicate pain so I have been monitoring with the guidance of our amazing vet. With his recent diagnosis of spondylosis and arthritis we’ve now introduced pain meds and physio, and today Albs had his first laser session ⚡️

I’m blown away with the results after just one session of laser, massage and manipulation today - scroll to the end pic to see how the curvature in Albert’s spine has flattened back out already! Isn’t it an amazing difference? 🤩

Looking forward to working with Lucy these coming months and to introducing some daily body conditioning exercises into Albert’s daily routine. Wish us luck 🐾💪🏻

How wonderful to come out of the veterinary consultation room today (after being given some news about Albs who collapsed earlier this week 😳), to find him having a cuddle with his friend Dr.Ellie 🥰 I thought he was still sleeping things off in his kennel after his tests, so to instead find him here in this moment was so heart warming…sorry he peed on you shortly after this photo was taken, Ellie….those drugs were mega strong💊💉💦💦💦

Luckily Albs is going to be able to have treatment for pain management and physio for arthritis in his back and he hasn’t (yet) been diagnosed with IVDD which is what we feared (as it is very common in his breed, and in severe cases can lead to paralysis).

Thank you as ever to Dr.Vanessa and her wonderful team - we are always made to feel like family when we come in (and I know this is how many of your other clients feel too). I was beating myself up with mega dog mum guilt these last 48 hours, feeling like I’d failed Albs in some way, but now I feel a huge weight has been lifted 🥰

Thank you too, to Albert’s wonderful dog sitter Alex who was with him when he collapsed and knew exactly what to do to keep him safe (and me from having a heart attack!) 🤩😇😘

Really looking forward to working with Lucy from to help build Albert’s strength back up so we can keep him fit and strong into his senior years…stay tuned to follow our treatment plan! 🐕💪🏻

Happy Puppers Day to all my fellow dog mums out there today….don’t forget about what a selfless job you do and how much your puppers love you for it 🐾💖.

I feel so blessed to have experienced loving and nurturing Albs and Rita, and I am grateful for every single day I have been given the opportunity to be a dog mum 🥰

🎈🎾 🐕Happy 8th birthday to this absolute legend 🎈🎾🎉

What a year Albs has had, adjusting to life without Rita which he was absolutely impacted by and just as we were both finding our way again, he was unlucky to get a spontaneous non-healing eye ulcer. He was in and out of the vets for over four months and we had to fast track his husbandry training overnight so as to enable him to consent to a gruelling schedule of daily (sometimes hourly) eye-drops (something he was previously scared of) 😅.

The good news was that when he did finally heal, he was able to complete his working therapy dog training and certification with the wonderful and I’m so proud of how calm and gentle he is with children and elderly people, both of whom he is going to be professionally assisting this year in his new therapy dog role (just extra attention and strokes as far as he’s concerned!) 🐕😇

My reason for being, working, learning, loving and helping others….happy birthday Albs 😘🐕

Lady & the Hound is a canine care and coaching business based in Walton-on-Thames, in Surrey. We have three puppy class and dog training schools based in Richmond, Hampton and Walton and also offer private 1:1 training across inner Surrey (within the M25) and SW London.

We use only positive and reward based reinforcement training methods to help show you how to train your dog to become a happy and well balanced member of your family. We also offer advice and support on behavioural issues such as separation anxiety, toileting indoors, barking, jumping up, pulling on lead walks, aggression towards other dogs and people as well as other anti social behaviour.

Lady & the Hound is a small business with a big heart and was founded by Imogen Haley who lives with her 2 year old French Bulldog Albert and 6 year old puppy farm rescue dog, Rita. Our aim is to make training fun and to help show you ways in which you and your family can enjoy your dog and create many happy memories together.
