Saving Pound Dogs Cyprus - SPDC Saving Pound Dogs - Cyprus (SPDC) Dogs available for Adoption If unsuccessful, we try to find new homes to our furry friends, either in Cyprus or abroad.

Saving Pound Dogs - Cyprus [SPDC] is a group of volunteers trying to save dogs that have ended up in various local dog pounds. By working in co-operation with the local pounds, we try to identify the owners of lost dogs through various channels. What we do is to:
- engage in improving the life of a dog whilst in the pound
- work with the local vets to make sure that the pound dogs are treated, if

sick
- strive to keep the dogs healthy at all times
- search for foster homes or, even better, forever homes
- organize fundraisers etc. in order to try to raise funds and support in the local community.

DoB: May 2020 (estimated)
BREED: German Shepherd cross
LOCATION: Nicosia sanctuary

Gentle is the word that we would first choose to describe this handsome Shepherd boy.

After being rescued, Victor was placed in private kennels for over 3 years sponsored by his rescuer. But life in kennels is not what a dog deserves, especially this sweet boy. We are so happy that he’s with us now and we will make every effort to make sure that this lovely boy finds his happy ever after!

Victor is an absolute sweetheart! He’s affectionate and always up for a cuddle even with people that he’s only just met. We think that he’d be happiest as an only dog as he seems wary of other dogs. Even though he was in kennels for so long, he wasn’t integrated with other dogs and it has left him a little fearful of them. Victor shows no aggression towards dogs, but he isn’t trusting of them.

Now that he’s relaxing into his new surroundings at the sanctuary, his playful side is coming out. He likes toys and will run after them and enjoys a game of tug. He walks well on a lead and we believe will be very responsive to positive reinforcement training.

We’re all in love with this gorgeous boy and think that he’s going to make a wonderful companion for someone. Homes with children over the age of 14 will be considered.

Josie and her sister, Honey, were dumped in a field like rubbish. It’s always shocking when dogs are abandoned but when young vulnerable puppies are thrown out like this it’s even more horrific. These two were lucky to have been caught by Constantina and Evita, our groomer, who was passing by to go to the vet and helped.

The sisters were obviously shocked and frightened to begin with. But they’re puppies so before long, once they had full bellies and realised that they were safe, they were playing and running around together in their new safe environment.

Although Josie is a little bit less confident that her sister, she does come to us for strokes now and she’s so playful and sweet! We can now see that they pups will stay small when fully grown – perhaps min-pin sized. They are funny and sweet and will continue to grow in confidence.

The girls love toys and running around with balls or ropes. They’re going to be great fun to have around! They will need some time to get used to life in a home and it may take them a few weeks to trust their new families. But we’re sure that they’re going to be loving, playful and fun additions to any family!

NAME: CHARLIE

SIZE: Small/Medium
DoB: January 2023 (estimated)
BREED: Mixed breed
LOCATION: Nicosia sanctuary

Charlie makes us so happy because when he came to us we thought we were looking at another frightened dog who would need a long time to rehabilitate… But this gorgeous boy had other plans and very quickly transformed into a wagging, friendly, happy boy!

Charlie was removed from a bad home where he was being mistreated. Unfortunately this is all too common but Charlie is one of the lucky ones and even luckier because he was able to shake off the fear and wariness that he came to us with within just a couple of weeks. It was so heartwarming to see!

This gorgeous boy is a small dog, weighing around 7-8kg. He is definitely a heinz57 breed mix and he has the biggest smile!

When we let Charlie out into the yard to play, he always runs straight to the kennel of Josie and Honey, two puppies in the same area. He loves to go and say hello to them and give them kisses through the gate. From what we’ve seen he doesn’t have an issue with other dogs and we believe that with careful introductions he could join a home with another resident dog.

Charlie likes to keep his kennel clean which indicates that he may have been housetrained. We just love this sweet boy and we are really looking forward to seeing his next chapter, in the loving home that he deserves!

NAME: YENNEFER
S*X: Female
SIZE: Medium
DoB: April 2018
BREED: Istrian Hound
LOCATION: Nicosia sanctuary

We have been very happy to welcome Yennefer and her friend Oscar to the SPDC sanctuary. We are helping out a dear friend and rescuer extraordinaire who has been trying to rehome these lovely dogs for years now!

No doubt an abandoned hunting dog, Yennefer was pregnant when she was rescued in 2022. She gave birth to 5 puppies that all got adopted. Poor Yennefer is still waiting….

This gorgeous girl is very loving and sweet-natured. She loves everyone that she meets and is always up for a cuddle. She also gets on really well with dogs and has lived happily alongside cats in the past. She could definitely join a home with another friendly resident dog.

Yennefer is positive for Leishmaniasis. She has received treatment and now takes a daily tablet which keeps the disease in remission. Many of our wonderful adopters have Leish positive dogs who lead long, happy lives. We are happy to give you more information.
