This update on Garth comes with a huge thanks to everyone who has supported our GoFundMe so far. Garth went for surgery on Wednesday 21st of August and the surgeon completed a muscle tightening procedure. Photos of Garth at the moment may be a little graphic, so we have used an older photo of our handsome boy for now, but the surgery was a success and Garth is back home!

Currently he's on a complex mixture of drugs for the time being but the prognosis is good. He'll go back for a post-operation check up today.

Overall, the outlook is good for the moment, and once Garth is recovered he will be ready to start looking for his forever home!

We are still raising funds to cover the costs of Garth’s surgeries, and so if you can give anything at all then we would be very grateful.

We will share more updates as Garth heals.

Thank you!

Leia, Luke and Han are three beautiful siblings looking for a loving home to call forever. The boys are a bit of a dynamic duo (black nose smudge and all black) love to wrestle and chase each other while Leia is more likely to be found chasing you for loves! Ideally we would love for two to go together and the other to be homed alongside another friendly feline friend. They are now 12 weeks old, having come from an unwanted litter.

If you’re interested in adopting Leia, Luke or Han into your family, then please get in touch on 07518 202854

Thank you!

Not all cats that come into our rescue come from hardship. Some of them come to us having already been very loved, and that was the case for Boldo. Sadly, Boldo's previous owner passed away, leaving him looking for another chance to be cared for once again. That chance was given to him by his new family, Pat and Barry! 🥰

They say that Boldo comes running when called, they love him very much, and that we couldn't have found them a better cat.

We are so happy to see that Boldo has found a new forever family with Pat and Barry, and we wish them all the best for their future together!

HOMED
-------
Introducing Missy, a gorgeous white coated female. 🤍 She is the most affectionate girly who really wants to be in people’s company most of the time, and is now looking for her forever home!

Missy is a real lap cat and likes to get comfy on your knee, where she will settle for as long as you can sit still for. She would be best housed with older children or with a family that spend lots of time at home – would be a perfect working from home companion. She loves to sit and watch the world go by from the window. Missy is a real gentle soul that wants to love you and be adored.

If you're interested in adopting Missy, please send us a message or contact Jacky on 07900415674. Thank you!

Let's take a look back on a very happy homing! In 2020, Harry was rehomed to Kathryn and family, and recently they have got back in touch with us to share how Harry is doing. Four years later he is so happy and healthy and absolutely loving his new life!

Kathryn says: "He is our wonderful Harry, he's our world and he's in charge 😻😻 He is just the most beautiful boy and we love him so much xx 😻😻"

Thank you so much Kathryn for sharing with us how Harry is getting on.

If you have adopted a cat with us, why not share an update or some photos in the comments? We would love to see how all of the cats of Stopford past are doing now! ❤️

Hello to all who have been following Garth's story, and thank you very much to everyone who has supported our GoFundMe so far. We have raised an incredible amount toward our vet bills and are so grateful, however Garth is not out of the woods just yet.

For those not aware, Garth came into our care with a very severe injury that caused him to lose half of his face. £775 later, he began recovering from his surgeries.

Now that Garth is well into his healing journey, it's become apparent that he will need further surgery to create a new eyelid for him. As you can see by his photo, his right eye is very exposed due to the damage caused to his face, and at the moment he requires daily drops to help keep his eye lubricated. We are aiming to find Garth a forever home in the future, and so his daily drops are not realistic long term and won't give him the best quality of life. His surgery is estimated to cost a further £1500, and so we are asking for help once more.

We are a very small charity, but we're so grateful to be in the position to be able to help cats like Garth.

We kindly ask you, our supporters, if you can spare anything from as little as £1 toward Garth's treatment. If you can, please donate to our GoFundMe, or you can also donate to us directly via bank transfer.

Thank you all so much for your support, and we will find Garth a home! 🐱❤️

Our gorgeous bonded pair Queenie and Harry have been with us for some time, since early spring, and are still eagerly waiting for their forever home.

Queenie (black and white female, 4 years) and Harry (black male 2 years) came into our care due to the major illness of their owner. They were very stressed at first but are now gaining in confidence. They would benefit from a quiet home together, with no children, and deserve to be in a loving home.

If you think you could offer Queen & Harry a forever home, please get in touch with Jacky on 07900 415674 and we can arrange an introduction. We're sure that you'll fall in love with these gentle friends.

READY FOR ADOPTION:
Stanley is a lovely black and white cat approximately 2 years old. Before he came to Stopford Cat Rescue, Stanley was homeless, looking for food and shelter. He is timid, suspicious of strangers and afraid of loud noises.

He has become trusting of his foster carers and is affectionate and friendly when he knows you. He looks for reassurance, likes the security of home and can be vocal and is wary of other cats.

He uses his litter tray well, has been neutered, microchipped, flea'd and wormed and has had his 1st vaccinations, and now he's looking for his forever home! Stanley deserves a lovely home with caring humans to look after him and give him plenty of love and affection.

If you think you could offer Stanley a forever home, please get in touch with Jackie on 07900 415674 and we can arrange an introduction so you can meet this lovely boy for yourself.

** HOMED **

Handsome young Sparrow is currently looking for his forever home.

Sparrow has spent a lot of time homeless before coming into Stopford Cat Rescue. He is now ready for an understanding home where he can continue to build confidence and have you all to himself.

We recommend that Sparrow is homed as an only cat, and he would make a great addition to a home with older children.

If you're interested in meeting Sparrow, please call 07900415674.

Thank you!

*UPDATE On the ginger male recently rescued*

On the 19th of May we received lots of messages that suddenly came in regarding a very poorly looking boy in urgent need of rescue. A post about him was being shared all over Facebook by cat lovers across Manchester wanting to find help for him. We responded, and our team of volunteer trappers managed to catch him. He was brought safely off the streets and into our rescue.

Garth is two years old, and wasn't neutered. It's likely that he has lived most of his life on the streets, but thankfully he is now recovering well, enjoying the company of his fosterer and getting two square meals a day. He couldn't be happier. As soon as he is fully healed he'll be looking for his forever home.

But, his fantastic recovery doesn't come without a hefty vet bill of £774.24 (so far) - which is why we need your help.

As a charity, we rely on the support of donations to keep doing what our mission is, to help all cats in need. Garth isn't the only cat within our rescue currently recieving treatment of some description at the moment, and the vet bills always keep coming.

To help us continue being able to help cats like Garth, we kindly ask for your support. If you're able to donate to us, your donation will go straight toward paying our vet bills. If you're not able to donate, you can still help by sharing our post so that we can reach as many people as we can.

TO DONATE: Please click the link to our fundraiser: https://www.gofundme.com/f/please-help-with-garths-vet-bills?qid=a0a8e8eb4e40161a4bd68fa05c2fb4f2

It was amazing to see so many people rally together to get Garth the help that he needed, so let's do the same to get his vet bills paid off so we can help the next cat in need.

Thank you for your support!

Have you ever seen a cuter pair of bonded brothers? 😻

We're so happy that we can share another happy homing! Here is what Sergio and Aguero's new family had to say:

"My partner Nick and I recently adopted Sergio & Aguero (now Sergio & Bandit). The two are settled in really nicely and are full of energy, always getting into mischief. They’re becoming more independent but still love to sleep cuddled up together and follow each other round the house! Both very nosey and love a good fuss.

Please pass on our thanks to Carole for all her help and to Michelle for looking after them so well!"

Hi! My name is Darcy Diva, and I'm a failed foster 🐈‍⬛😇

In November 2023 I was taken in by Elliott, who runs our social media and is a foster with Stopford Cats. I had undiagnosed hyperthyroidism and a lot of hair loss on my pudgy belly. After a few weeks of living with my new caretakers and my foster sister Luna, we bonded really closely, and in February 2024 I was officially adopted!

I love being close to my humans, sleeping with them, sitting in whichever room they're in (even on the side of the bath!), and now that I'm happy and my hyperthyroidism is being treated I've got a fluffy tummy once more!

The best thing about my new home though is my sister Luna. I always want to be where she is, even if it means I annoy her sometimes 😂 we love to play together and she always looks out for me.

If you think you could help Stopford Cats by fostering cats like me, please get in touch! We'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for reading my story!

Love Darcy xx

Available for adoption: Elvis 🕺

Elvis, as his name suggests, is a cat with great personality and style. He’s raring to find a new home where he can snuggle up with people who want to give him loads of love and attention, and where he has access to the great outdoors. He is a big, gentle 3 year old tabby cat who enjoys playing, chasing ping pong balls and rolling around with his soft toys. He would make a wonderful pet for a family with children or for an individual who is looking for a loyal and affectionate companion. 🪩💛

If you think you could offer Elvis a forever home, please get in touch on 07742 977696

Today we bring you another happy homing, meet Goldi! 💛

Gorgeous Goldi was previously used for breeding, and then was dumped on the streets. She came into our rescue in a very sorry state. Luckily our brilliant fosterer, Samantha, took excellent care of her until she was ready to go to her new loving home with Rose!

We’re so happy that Goldi found a happy ending!

Today we have a slightly different Happy Homing, coming from someone who has a role in running our Stopford Cat Rescue!

Simeon runs our website, and has recently adopted two new furry friends through our rescue. Here is their story:

Simeon - "After losing my elderly cat Squeak last summer, I waited a good while before I was ready to adopt again. I’d always wanted to adopt through a charity, rather than going via a breeder, as there’s so many lovely cats out there already looking for a home. That said I’d also been thinking about getting a ragdoll kitten!!

At the end of January, I saw and adopted the beautiful Cleo (previously Violet) from Stopford Cat Rescue who was looking for a quiet home from her very busy one. She settled in immediately, although it took a few days for her cheekier side to shine through. She loved sleeping on my lap as well as terrorising the robe-hoover, which I now have to hide to prevent it being hunted!

I had mentioned to Carole that I hoped to get her a friend to keep her company whilst I was out at work.

3 weeks after arriving, it appears the hand of fate was willing to get involved. By complete chance, Elvis, a ragdoll kitten was looking for a new home with a sibling…… How could I turn him down!!!

I wasn’t sure how long it would take for them to accept each other, but it turned out to be about 4 days! They now chase each other around at high speed, trilling at each other and love sparring and playing with toys before crashing out for a power nap!

If you want to follow how they’re getting on, they have their own Instagram account "

Thank you Simeon for sharing Cleo and Elvis with us!

Available for adoption: Kiki 🐾

Kiki came into our care from difficult circumstances and has had to learn to trust humans. When first at her fosterer’s, she hid for long periods of time; she cried for food which suggested she had sporadic feeding.
Now, however, she is much more settled and is friendly and playful; she loves to chase cat toys up and down the kitchen. She enjoys being stroked and would make a rewarding family pet.

If you think you could offer Kiki a forever home, please get in touch on 07742 977696 and we can arrange an introduction so you can make up your mind.
