There are lots of reasons to walk your dog on a harness, long term pulling at the neck can cause issues, any jerking of lead attached to a collar can damage spine and nerves and the organs in the neck listed below.
The harness you choose needs to be really well fitted.
Think kids school shoes, if they do not fit correctly they can damage your childrens feet and the way they walk and give them problems later on in life, it’s the same with harnesses.

Those locally or not local 😊
We would recommend going to Leominster Pet Centre to get your harness checked or a proper harness fitting no need to book.

Lovely 😊

With the warmer weather ahead, owners should be mindful of the signs of heatstroke. 🌡️ Heatstroke is a serious illness that develops when a dog gets too hot and is unable to lower its temperature. Left untreated, heatstroke can lead to seizures, organ failure and even death.

Any dog can develop heatstroke, but overweight, young, elderly, flat-faced, giant-breed, and thick-coated dogs are particularly at risk, even from just sitting out in hot weather.

Some of the most common triggers for heatstroke include:
🥵 Overheating during exercise - accounts for 74% of cases
☀️ Being outside in hot weather (even just sitting still) - accounts for 12.9% of cases
🚘♨️ Being trapped in a hot car - accounts for 5.2% of cases

See advice from our vets on what you can do to help prevent or provide first aid for heatstroke: http://pdsa.me/hpSh

🧊 Please note that ice cubes are perfectly safe for dogs to use as a treat to cool down on a hot day. It is when a dog is suffering from heatstroke that the drastic change in temperature from the ice can cause shock, and therefore should be avoided. A dog’s normal body temperature is around 38.6°C (101.5°F).

This is dear little Phoebe. I’ve been lucky enough to get involved with her recently, taking her for walks while her Mum’s bad foot heals. She is an absolute delight.

Our Story

I am passionate about Tellington TTouch because its ethos is perfect for me ie gentle handling, respectful attitude and seeking to understand what the dog is experiencing. Once we remove our own agendas and assumptions and begin to ‘’listen’’ to our dogs, we can really start the journey of helping them. As we increase our understanding of how our dogs are feeling, both mentally/emotionally and physically, we are better equipped to make positive changes in our own behaviours, which will have a beneficial effect for the dogs.

TTouch is also very effective, gently increasing calmness and confidence, and reducing or removing altogether a whole variety of undesirable behaviours.

I offer individual sessions at a very reasonable price, and would love to help you with any issues (or none) with your dog. Learn the TTouch method from me.
