As the weather warms up, the European Adder will be out and about. This is the only venomous snake native to the UK!

If your dog is unfortunate enough to get bitten, stay calm and get veterinary help as soon as possible - you can reach us on 01858462839

🟣 Keep your dog close to you or on a lead around areas known for Adder populations – this will stop them from bothering the snakes and the likelihood of the snakes striking.
🟣 If you see the snake, try to remember what it looks like (but do not get close or try to harm it - they are a protected species).
🟣 Leave the bite alone, don't apply a bandage or tourniquet.
🟣 If an Adder has bitten your pet, call your vet immediately, and if possible, carry your pet to stop the venom from spreading.
🟣 Even if you have been on a walk and haven't seen your pet get bitten but they are acting out of character or you notice any swellings, call your vet to be safe.
🟣 Remain calm and contact us on 01858462839

My Story

I started Welland Valley Pet Care back in 2016 to meet the growing demand for dog walking and pet care in the Market Harborough area. Since then I've not looked back! I pride myself on providing a professional service at a competitive price.

Having been bought up with dogs since birth, I have had the pleasure of sharing my home with other domestic animals too such as rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils and coldwater fish, not to mention a couple of tortoises. I currently own a Cocker Spaniel called Dale and a rabbit, called Wesley.

My working knowledge and experience of animals, spanning in excess of 20 years, has been obtained mainly through animal rescue centres, customer service and the veterinary sector.

I am fortunate to have a wealth of animal care qualifications to include a degree in animal welfare and management, City in Guilds Level 2 in both Dog Walking & Pet Sitting, certificates in pet first aid, microchipping and the safe use of veterinary medicines, to name but a few.
