Understanding Self-Reinforcement in Dogs: Preventing Unwanted Behaviors
In this video, we discuss the concept of self-reinforcement in dogs. We talk about how dogs that engage in behaviors like pulling on the lead, jumping up at people, or running over to other dogs without invitation, may be doing so because they are self-reinforcing their own actions. We provide an example of a dog named Scout who exhibits this behavior, and explain how rewarding these actions can lead to bigger problems down the line. The video emphasizes the importance of providing guidance and leadership for dogs, rather than allowing them to make their own decisions, in order to prevent unwanted behaviors.

A case study I’m so proud I got to be a part of. We started our training in January and are slowly coming to a close with a huge improvement in Milas behaviour. Thanks to Lucy for choosing us to help and being so easy to work with the past 10 months through the good and bad days. Watch the video to read Mila’s transformation 🐶 #dogtraining #dog trainer

If we can inspire even one person a month to train their dogs through the knowledge we give them it sure does bring the biggest smile to our faces. The regular updates we get from our owners is such a joy to see so we wanted to share some of them here to celebrate what brilliant people we work with and how so very lucky these dogs are to have such dedicated and understanding people in their lives ;

My thoughts on puppy pads! 🐶💧❌
Me and Dad have been training Scout every morning for 4 weeks and yesterday was the first time we let him off the lead with our fantastic groups 🥰 He was able to show us everything he had learnt and we were so chuft! I’d usually create a reel from this but wanted to post all the raw clips of our walk. Dad was very happy ❤️ #puppytraining #dogtraining #dogtrainer #parsonsjackrussell
We have 2 spaces left for Puppy training in May 🐶 Here’s one of our most recent pups Milo competing his last outdoor session showing off his retrieval work. He did amazing and so excited to see him in 3 weeks for his social 🥰 #colliecrosshusky
And here we have all the pups on their plans this month! Mable, Mika, Obi, Maple, Evie, Mable and Milo. What a gorgeous bunch. Some seriously good obedience and learning from this group too, we’ve got some smart cookies upon us 🍪 🐶 #dogbehaviour #puppytraining #workingwithdogs .
