You may have seen some press regarding the new RVHD2 strain.

Hopefully this won't be relevant to you personally but please see the comments from RWA below, regarding reporting any incidents in your vaccinated pets. 🤎

In light of recent comments online, it is clear that some of you have lost rabbits to RVHD2, some of which may be from the new, highly virulent strain. As this means that the current vaccine has not offered protection, reporting it will assist the regulatory authorities in allowing in vaccines that....

In case you weren't aware.
From today 1st October, if you own any captive bird as a pet (If they ever go outside) or have up to 49 chickens. You must register them with DEFRA asap.

Register if you keep up to 49 birds, including any kept as pets.

𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗘-𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗔𝗟𝗚𝗔𝗘 - 𝟭 𝗠𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

We are sorry to say that blue-green algae is present in Budworth Mere again.
Please do NOT enter the Mere or permit your pets to enter or drink the water.
The Algae is TOXIC and will cause skin conditions, stomach upsets or more serious health problems.
Please see the attached information (from 'Nose To Trail') regarding the impact blue-green algae may have on dogs.
If you are a dog owner, please read it carefully - it may be useful.
Signs will be posted at various locations ASAP.
The most important thing is to make sure people and pets stay out of the Mere.
When we are informed the Mere is safe again, we will let people know.
Thank you for your understanding.

Sadly this beautiful lady, Dee, has passed over the rainbow bridge at the grand age of 16 and a half.
She has been a weekly Petite Pet Pals client for many years, sharing her daily walks with Creatures
We have had lots of lovely walks together, from long walks to a wander up the street as she got older.
She was a beautiful girl who was determined and resilient through her life.
Deepest condolences to her family.
We will all miss you Dee 💜💜

Probably best to avoid dog walks at Shakerley Mere at the moment. See below

ACTIVE OUTBREAK OF AVAIN BOTULISM - Shakerley Mere, Allostock (Cheshire west)

Please do not allow dogs in or near the water the toxin can be deadly if ingested,
Please contact us asap if visiting the mere or local waters and see any birds in sign of distress or illness

The botulinum toxin causes paralysis then death by drowning or respiratory failure.

Unfortunately last weekend two swans (one mute & one black) have already passed away from this and one swan is currently in critical condition whilst another is being treated as a precautionary measure at another rescue.
On Saturday we removed one dead swan and then daily have been monitoring since, on Monday the swan pictured started to exhibit very early signs and on Tuesday both swans were caught and taken to be treated.
