This post is a friendly reminder and warning to all pet owners to protect their furry friends and yourself.

Betty recently had to take a trip to the vets due to somehow getting a foxtail embedded in her foot. And we're not talking only a little bit. It was deep enough to cause her some series problems.

Please be careful when walking around areas that may have tall grass or farmlands nearby. You can be anywhere and stumble across it. (I'm still unsure where Betty picked it up.)

A foxtail is a spikelet or cluster of a grass, that serves to disperse its seeds as a unit. Thus, the foxtail is a type of diaspore or plant dispersal unit. Some grasses that produce a foxtail are themselves called "foxtail", also "spear grass". They can become a health hazard for dogs, cats, and other domestic animals, and a nuisance for people.
