Little George had a check up at the vets🐰

The vet’s suggested euthanasia however you know my views on that and not letting an animal down when there could be potential positive outcomes.

So he has an abscess and has lots of missing teeth at the back. He’s in for work on Tuesday next week to drain the abscess and for dental correction. He will need ongoing work ❤️

Little man George, is booked in tomorrow at the vets to get him seen too. As it’s a specialist exotic vets we need all the donations we can get to get him comfortable and back to good health as he’s been failed💔💔💔

Sadly this is an emergency pled for funds. One of the buns who arrived is in a bad way regarding his teeth. He also has an abscess causing his face to swell💔 He needs medical attention asap.

Also the guinea pigs who came, 2 girls were living with 3 baby males😢 one has mange mites and a bad bumble foot💔

Guys I actually need my mouth taping up because who am I kidding when I say I’m stopping rescuing. Biggest lie to ever come out of my mouth I can’t help myself😑😑🤣🤣
I’ve been made aware of some kittens that need rescuing as they’ve been left at the bottom of someone’s garden. So, once they’ve been health checked, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, flead & wormer, they will be up for adoption.

I do not condone myself as a cat rescue before anybody starts bombarding me with can I help with cats🤣

Just on this occasion I can’t let them suffer.

He is a friendly hammy who is around 10 months old.

Both solo male buns, who have been castrated and vaccinated.

They must go to homes who meet the RWAF standards for rabbit housing, with an attempt to bond to a spayed and vaccinated female rabbit. Proof of set up will need to be shown.

Guys, bit of a sad one, however for 7 years I’ve fought hard running the rescue on my own. Paying thousands of pounds at the vets for specialist X-rays, teeth burring procedures, Upper respiratory infections, you name it I’ve had it and helped!

However I just genuinely can no longer put up of the emotional stress of it all. Having to deal with deaths, nasty comments, people I have to deal with, encounters by putting my life at risk and the mental health burden it’s cost me.

I am physically, and mentally drained, to which I can’t cope with doing it anymore.

I have helped and rescued over 1,000 maybe more animals over the 7 years, wether that be guinea pig, rabbit, hamster, gerbils, chinchillas etc.

It’s not a job in it’s self that’s for gain, as hundreds and thousands of pounds get spent at the vets. People neglecting animals and allowing them to get to a dire point where I have to take them to the vets to have them PTS. Why should I have to cope with that?

Threatening messages, accusations, reports to the police, reports to rspca, nasty, spiteful messages. I’m 23, and half of these messages are people double my age. Who think it’s acceptable to drag someone down, and I don’t want to put up with that anymore, it’s unfair.

Thank you for all of your guys support both financially and via social media and sharing things.

Don’t get me wrong, we still have animals needing to be neutered/spayed and have permanent residence who have ongoing health issues so the work never stops.

If you choose to rescue animals, I am going to give you some sound advice - Grow thick skin and don't care what people think of you. I have known people to lose the battle with their minds and we just lost a kind, caring individual in my rescue network. Compassion fatigue is real, but nothing is worth your life. No pet. No rescue. No person's opinion. Nothing.

In rescue, that person that tells you what an angel you are and how wonderful you are every time you pick up a stray pet thrown at their door will also be the first person who tells people how your organization is worthless when you don't have space to pick up the 30th pet thrown off on their property. It's ok.

In rescue, the adopter that leaves you the five star review about how wonderful everyone has been will change that review quick when they return the pet even though you have spent hours trying to keep it in their home. One star reviews are ok.

In rescue, your friend will be your friend until you deny their application for a pet because they are a great friend but a terrible pet owner. That's ok too.

In rescue, you will answer 143 calls in a day (yesterday to be exact). But if you miss 6 calls in a row while you are in the shower, you will be the one who "never answers their phone". It's ok.

In rescue, other rescuers and random trolls will judge everything you do but never have time to pitch in a hand to help when they see something needing more attention. They will, however, have lots of time to talk about how they’d do it better while they harass and judge you. It will be ok.

In rescue, you will have to involve animal control and the police department sometimes. The people who you take pets from will hate you - and I mean REALLY hate you. Trust me, it's ok.

In rescue, pets will be put down and pets will die at the hands of abusers. We can't save them all - and that's ok. We save the ones that we can and pray for peace for the ones we can't.

I have been in the animal rescue world since 2009. I have dealt with every problem and every situation imaginable. I used to take some things to heart, then I realized - I am doing this for the animals, not for any person in this world. I have found my joy and no person will take that. If you are in rescue, don't let anyone or anything take your joy. Find peace that you will never please everyone. Find peace that you will never save them all. Never allow something you love to turn into something that ends your life.

Regarding one of my last posts, it had spiked up quite a worrying amount of people who believe that dogs/cats can get along with rodents and rabbits.

Please let me educate you. Rabbits, hamsters, rats, guinea pigs and any small rodents are ‘PREY’ animals. Meaning, they can feel threatened by any sudden noises, movements and anything large that’s coming towards them.

Cats & Dogs are ‘PREDATOR’ animals. Meaning they will attack anything small, furry and that’s moving and will see it as food.

You might think they look like they are having ‘fun’ and that they get ‘along’ but animals will tend to stay still as they can sense a threat around them.

It is very irresponsible to be putting any small animal within access reach to a dog or cat, and it’s shocking to see how many people condone of it.

Your animals are not enjoying it. Your dogs and cats are seeing your small animals as food. Or a play toy. Do better 😡
