What a fantastic weekend we had! Over 600 hens saved with the help of our dedicated volunteers, the lovely farmer and you, our amazing followers who helped spread the word!
These are just a handful of photos taken on the day but our talented Jade has put a video together which we will share with you all later today 💜🐓
The work that goes in to organising a rescue starts weeks before the actual day behind the scenes. Communicating with the farmer, our small but mighty admin team organises the reservations for our various collection points. They are putting a team of volunteers together who are willing to help catch, crate and load these hens on a cold, dark and damp morning and drive to the respective CPs. There the hens get unloaded and have an hour to stretch their legs, have some food and water before they get picked up by their new families to start their new lives.
If you feel that you can and would like to spare some time to join us on rehome days either on the farms or at our collection points we would love to hear from you. In return we can promise you very early mornings, usually there is mud involved, great laughs and loads of chicken cuddles!
Also we would like to point out that not one person here at Chicken Rescue UK takes any sort of payment. All of the donated money goes back towards rescuing more hens. That includes petrol money, repair and maintaining our ‘chuck truck’ and trailers, buying new poultry crates to replace broken ones, feed for remaining chickens in our ‘hen banks’ for example. We are so lucky that we have such generous supporters as well and can’t thank them enough!

These gorgeous ginger hens are from a free range farm from a loving farmer who won't be going back into the commercial egg market and only wants these girls to find their perfect forever homes to enjoy their well earned retirement.

🎄🥂Merry Christmas to all of you, our amazing followers and supporters! Sorry it was a bit quiet over the last couple of months. We had quite a bit going on in the background plus we are moving which is taking up some of our time. In the background we are planning another rescue on the 18th Jan ‘25 so please share far an wide.
We would like to thank you all for the support and love over the last 12 months, in front and behind the scenes. We honestly wouldn’t be able to do what we do without you. We rescued 1700 hens here 2024…how amazing is that and you played abhuge part in this! Please continue to follow us on this journey.
