🐾 πŸ’œπŸΎ WE ARE IN NEED FOSTERS πŸΎπŸ’œπŸΎ

IF YOU APPLY PLEASE RESPOND WHEN WE TRY AND CONTACT YOU

We are always looking for volunteer foster families across the UK - especially DOG FREE AND DOG & CHILD FREE as well as families 😁
Fostering a dog can be hard work but its very rewarding, please read on if this could be you.

Our fosters are guided by us from the time the foster dog arrives, through assessment to a point where the dog is ready for adoption. This can take a matter of weeks to a few months depending on the circumstances.

Most of our dogs will need veterinary treatment, from spay / neuter, to more serious conditions which could require daily meds, so you will be required to attend vet appointments as required and provide after care post surgery.

Some dogs will not be able to live with other dogs, so 'dog free' foster homes are highly sought after but most dogs can live in family environments with children and other dogs.
Please note, if there are friendly resident dogs, we would need to see evidence that the dog(s) is sterilised... we dont want any "accidents" THEY MUST BE STERILISED.

You will be responsible for walking your dog and assessing behaviour around other dogs and in situations such as road walking, meeting people, people coming into the home, being in a car etc

We pay for all the items required for the foster dog i.e food, bedding, lead, toys etc and of course the vets bills.

All we ask is that you treat our dog as you would treat your own and we are on hand to help every step of the way.

Essential criteria

🐾 Be a dog lover
🐾 Previous dog ownership experience
🐾 Secure garden
🐾 Someone at home for most of the day
🐾 Ability to travel to vets
🐾 Ability to observe and update admin on behaviours and any medical issues

If you feel this is you..... please apply .....it's very rewarding, sometimes challenging, always emotional but also wonderful, fabulous and amazing ....... You could be the link between abuse and love.

Please complete the application form via the link below and we will get back to you ASAP πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

Fantastic news and well done to Geordie Bullies Springboard Rescue UK πŸΎπŸ‘

πŸ“£πŸ“£ We have some amazing news!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Geordie Bullies Springboard Rescue UK are very pleased to announce we are now working with Battersea as an Animal Partnership Breed Specific Rescue ❀️

Battersea have been rehoming animals for 160 years now and care passionately about the animals in their care. The collaboration between Battersea and GBSR means we can help even more English Bulldogs that would benefit from being in a breed specific rescue . We are ecstatic to have been asked to work with one of the best rescues in the country.

By working together we can rescue, rehabilitate and rehome even more bulldogs which is amazing!

By Scott Harmer BDR supporter in Ukraine. Please take a moment to read this amazing story.

It has been quite a few years since I posted here about our bulldog, Buster. But it’s time to let everyone know about his spirit, resilience, and his truly unbelievable character.

Buster is just over five years old, and his start in life was filled with the torment of acute allergies β€” this group helped tremendously on that journey β€” but after trial, error and time we got all of that under control and he has been living his full life.

But a little less than a month ago all that changed and dramatically so.

We lived in Kyiv, Ukraine. And the day war arrived, we walked, as usual, by the canal, over the bridge and up the footpath to home. Our usual 2-kilometre pre-second breakfast walk. When we arrived home, we woke mommy to tell her war had started. He had second breakfast and destroyed the last milk bottle in comfort.

Two days later his epic 5-day, 2,500 km road trip started. We crossed Ukraine passing uncountable road-blocks of armed soldiers, listening to air-raid sirens and hearing bombs and rockets whistle and fall. We stayed at numerous places for just the night. And finally we crossed the boarder to Romania. He had a few days of relaxation out of the car and with regular food, water, walks and toileting, then back in the car to cross the Carpathian’s on our way to Bucharest β€” another 600km and day’s drive.

Finally, in Bucharest we stayed at a hotel for a little over two weeks. A small room where he happily slept between his parents and stole the duvet nightly, his favorite food and routine returned for a time. He was ok. He had done it. Such a journey didn’t take him.

The day arrived. We had to fly to Israel. His travel box was filled with his favorite blanket and loved teddies. He had learnt to get comfy and relax in this box. It was fully secured and wouldn’t break under his podge. At the airport, they took him from us 2 hours before the flight. The flight was delayed almost 3 hours. It was a 2 and a half hour flight. In Israel, because we were refugees it took another few hours. All in all he was in his box for nearly 11 hours without us, food, water or toileting. We frantically ran to his box in the luggage area. They had sealed the door tightly, so I simply tore off the door to get him out.

Buster’s crazy wiggle dance, his smile, his stupidity exploded out of that box. He was fine. He had simply slept the whole way. We gave him water and food which he wolfed down β€” as usual. We took him out to do his business on the beautiful grass. We exited the airport, we’re greeted by family and went home (new one again).

Bulldogs are amazing. They will surprise you beyond belief. Buster is a Ukrainian version because he can walk when it’s minus 20. He can walk when it’s plus 30. He can go on a 2,500 km road trip that lasts nearly 5 days. He can fly, even when the plane is delayed. And above all, he can make anywhere his home. As long as he has his favorite blanket, loved teddies, favourite food and empty milk bottle.

Bulldogs are amazing!

We were hoping to spend today phoning round applicants for Holly and Gold but not one single application came in for these beautiful girls. TANGO is freindly and loves everyone.
She is clean in the house and happy in the garden.
When TANGO came into rescue she hadn't been outside the front door for years due to, it was reported, her being very scared of other animals.
TANGO now goes on a few short plods a day and her stamina is improving. This is, of course, helping with her weight loss.

UPDATE: Nottinghamshire Police first force in the country to appoint a dog theft lead

Cold-hearted dog thieves are being warned "we are coming to get you" after Nottinghamshire Police became the first force in the country to appoint a dedicated dog theft lead.

Nottinghamshire Police Chief Constable Craig Guildford said the move to introduce the specialist officer should send a clear message that this type of crime would not be tolerated.

It comes as part of a package of measures after a survey revealed dog owners are increasingly fearful over their pets' safety following growing cases of dog theft across the country during the pandemic.

Nottinghamshire’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (DPPC) Emma Foody (pictured), who launched the survey, has outlined a three-point plan to tackle dog theft in the county and beyond. It comprises:

● Chief Inspector Amy Styles-Jones being appointed as dog theft lead in Nottinghamshire Police.

● A renewed focus on safety advice for owners, with new video guidance from Nottinghamshire Police’s Dog Section advising owners how to keep their pet safe.

● A β€˜Canine Coalition’ to tackle the issue, with dog welfare organisations working together to tackle the scourge of theft and demand Government action on tougher sentences. Guide Dogs for the Blind has already pledged its support.

Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Emma Foody said: β€œI’m delighted that Nottinghamshire has become the first force in the country to appoint a dog theft lead. There is growing alarm - both locally and nationally - over the threat of dog theft. This has been fuelled by a number of distressing incidents which have eroded public confidence.

β€œI’m incredibly grateful for the support of Guide Dogs for the Blind in helping us highlight how serious this issue is, and I’m keen to work with other organisations to do whatever we can to prevent dog theft in the future and disrupt the lucrative market that has emerged during the national lockdowns.

β€œAs a dog owner myself, I know just how worrying this issue is, and I’m determined to fight for tougher penalties for those involved in this despicable crime.”

Nottinghamshire’s Chief Constable Craig Guildford said the appointment of a dedicated dog theft lead showed the force took the issue seriously.

He said: β€œFirstly, it’s important to reassure local residents that we have not seen a significant spike in dog theft in Nottinghamshire. However, we obviously want to keep it that way, and give our dog owners confidence that we are taking the matter seriously.

"That’s why I felt it was important to have a senior officer to lead on this. We want to prevent dogs being stolen in the first place, with the heartbreaking stress and trauma this causes the owners, and will be working hard to spread those messages.

"Secondly I want to send a clear message to those who seek to carry out this cold-hearted crime that it will not be tolerated, it is taken very seriously and we will come after you.”

Newly promoted Chief Inspector Amy Styles-Jones has just been given the job of being Nottinghamshire Police force’s lead on animal cruelty. An animal lover herself, as she has three pet Chihuahuas called Tink, Jasper and Josie, she said: β€œAs a newly promoted Chief Inspector this position will form part of my new role in force.

β€œI will need to review the details in terms of what this role will entail however as an animal lover myself I relish the prospect of ensuring we take a compassionate response to the developing situation in regards to dog theft and any animal cruelty. I am proud to be part of a force where such a commitment has been given.”

Tim Stafford, director of canine affairs at Guide Dogs, said: β€œStealing a dog is not the same as stealing someone’s television, despite the law seeing it this way.

"The theft of a dog is much more like the loss of a loved family member. What’s more, blind and visually impaired people rely on their guide dogs for their independence and wellbeing. A huge investment of love, time and money over many years has gone into creating each of our incredible guide dog partnerships.

β€œThis year, for the first time, we have been informed of a couple of incidents when someone has attempted to take a guide dog from its owner. While such incidents are very rare in relation to how many guide dog partnerships our charity supports, we are concerned about how fearful our guide dog owners are of being a potential target at the moment. The law needs to change to stop dog theft from being a low-risk, high-reward crime, and better reflect how people value their dogs.”
