Just want to make this clear that this boy doesn't have a bad bone in his body, the muzzle is on for his safety so that he didn't hurt himself with the dryer.
Maverick hated the dryer and would try and bite the nozzle end, which could hurt his mouth in the process.
I can't explain how massive this is for this boy! He used to be very difficult to dry, he used to try and jump out of the bath and It was very difficult to dry around his front end.
He used to be very vocal and would often get very stressed. So his owner suggested trying some Elvis Presley music in the background and that was the first step to him relaxing. I quite enjoy our Elvis sessions now 😂
I also have always let him have a moment if he needed it and gave him lots of reassurance when he did the behaviour I needed him to. And this has helped him gain trust in me.
Today he jumped into the bath and actually wanted some love. He didn't tell the dryer off at all and actually had moments where he sat down and relaxed.
This is what makes my job so worth while. My end goal is to always make dogs feel less stressed, and to have a happy experience.
He has come to me 5 times and I am so impressed that today he has enough trust in me to actually relax and not feel as anxious. You can see he still isn't 100% comfortable, his ears are back and he is looking away. But we will get there handsome boy!
