Team Lady Riki

Team Lady Riki has 3 donkeys involved in the sport of Carriage Driving.

These are all pure bred Cotentin Donkeys who compete in the Show Ring in various shows regularly against horses & ponies in Private Drive & trade Classes.

No footy for SFC until end of month, omg what shall I do? Well today Rog has rubbed down & undercoated the shafts & pairs pole of my Hartland 4 wheeler, just needs to dry for the top coat! Next job check the carriage over & some more painting in places.... Haven't told Lady Riki yet!

Lady Sarah (Lady Riki sister), over the years she has suffered lots of health issues mostly relating back to when she had her foal (Monsieur Gilbert), retained placenta amongst other things, since then we managed her laminitis ( usually occurs in 1 foot), in November she suffered an awful deep foot absus which took an age to come out & I was prepared for the end, now look at her today, apart from her usual shaggy coat she looks pretty good for the age of 18.

Lady Riki has been out tonight! At a local event next to a group of Alpacas, a pen of sheep also attended, carols sung. Mince pies & mulled wine, very tasty. Star of the show was Lady Riki!

Normally Lady Riki doesn't wear a turnout rug in the winter as she has a good coat & access to a shelter of deep straw, but she need to stay clean as she has an event on Saturday! All will be revealed. 2 little helpers will make an appearance!

This week has been a challenge, poor Lady Sarah has been suffering with a hind hoof absus, twice daily poulticing simply hasn't brought the absus out, we have had the vet & farrier on different days & finally today it has burst in the coronet band & on the sole! Omg the smell! Vet came & antibiotics was given by injection, so fingers crossed Sarah will now be more comfortable.

Team Lady Riki have been out today at BDS Hampshire Area Show, mix of results but we did come 2nd in the Pleasure Driving Class (everybody else was short ears) & won the Uncle Mo Trophy. Weather was a tad warm but I'm not complaining, thanks for Gill & David Shorter for their encouragement & help todayx

Team Lady Riki has just returned from BDS Smith's Lawn, wow it was hot .. we did 2 classes; Vintage Vehicle we came 4th & later in the day the Donkey class, sadly the only entrant. Then onwards to the Parade, we were the last turnout & the crowd loved Lady Riki.
Long day thanks to my helpers Gill & Dave Shorter.

Lady Riki first outing this year @ SEDS, at Ardingly showground. First time I've ever won a sash! Sadly no other turnouts, but I think the audience enjoyed our performance! Lovely large ring for her Ladyship! Thanks to friends Gill & David Shorter for their company, much appreciated.

I''ve entered the TREC event, being run by Hampshire & Sussex BDS. Think I need to tell Lady Riki tomorrow as she will need to be fit, we don't want to let Long Ears down!
Anyone else going? Who would like to meet Long Ears, no problem at all she loves everyone, as long as you are not our VET!

I have to say I'm pleased that Lady Sarah has wintered well so far, we have managed to keep the dread lami at bay & she seems to be walking well, next step long reining & just maybe she will return to driving this year?

Wanted: Traditional style 4 wheel carriage suitable for pony pairs approx 12 - 13hh, ideally single as well.
Not wagonette type, neads to be compact to fit in my trailer. Reasonable budget, prefer location in south.
