HOW IT WORKS
For every £2 donation, a number will be allocated. At the end of August, one or more winning numbers will be chosen using a random number generator. The total money taken will be divided by THREE- 25% prize money, 25% this month for Rescue Dogs Romania (Moreni Shelter) and the final 50% will be a “surprise” donation shared pro rata between the Animal Rescues that you vote for.
If we take more than £4000 in the month, there will be TWO prizes - the main prize will be £1000 and there will be a second/booby prize of the remainder of the 25%.

Each £2 number in The Doggy Lottery gets one vote for a Rescue of your choice. You can vote for a Rescue already nominated or choose your own.
THEN AT THE END OF THE MONTH, EVERY RESCUE WITH 30 OR MORE VOTES RECEIVES A PRO RATA SHARE OF 50% OF THE LOTTERY TAKINGS. This equates to at least £1 per vote. Please note that you do not HAVE to vote but if you want to, message the page or comment on one of the posts with your choice.

**IMPORTANT PLEASE READ**

It is with a heavy heart that I am telling you that a family members dog died yesterday after playing with the garden hose with my nephews.
He suffered secondary drowning and devastatingly this was fatal. He was fit & healthy; he was the tender age of 3!

I personally wasn’t aware of secondary drowning and play with my dogs with my garden hose to cool them down. This is one of Blake’s favourite games.

What is secondary drowning??

Your pet has likely inhaled water into its lungs, and even after coughing it up or after observing water draining from the nose or mouth, there could be residual water remaining in the lungs. This could lead to pneumonia. Secondary drowning has been known to occur, even up to three days after the initial near-drowning. Exhaustion is almost always the cause of drowning. With a hose or even a sprinkler your dog can inhale the water and this can be fatal.

Please do not leave your pets in vehicles in this weather 🐶 ‼️🌡️

We have just arrested a man in after a member of the public spotted a dog stuck in a car with all the windows and doors shut. We arrived at the scene to find the dog in great distress.

We threw water over the dog and put it in our police vehicle with the air con on before taking it to the Royal Veterinary College where he is currently receiving emergency treatment. The RSCPA are being contacted.

This follows on from a similar incident at the weekend in .

Please be responsible. Dogs left alone in a car on a hot day can quickly become dehydrated, develop heatstroke or even die. Even if you park in the shade, leave a window open, leave out a bowl of water or put a sunshade on your window, the temperature can still rise to dangerous and fatal levels.
