Fidget Midget

An unwanted little staffy cross, found in a council pound when she was about 8 months old. A true en Mum found me in my kennel with my nose on the wall.

Set up in 2013, this little poundie tries her best to break the stigma of a rescue dog- people believe that you need to have a puppy to begin training- but this is simply not true. Fidget was about 8 months old when we found her in the pound. " I was picked up as a stray, and fell into the 7 day catagory- if I wasn't claimed/ rehomed, I was in danger of being PTS- also, being black AND a staffie c

ross, I wasn't the most popular resident amongst potential owners. I looked really sad and was unhappy and lonely. Mum went to pick up her other dog- Diefenbaker, (deef-un-baker) and the rest as they say is history! PLEASE consider a rescue for your next best friend- it takes time and patience, but you get payment back tenfold! EVERY dog can shine- they just need to be given the chance! Even if you have a family, lots of rescues work hard to check us dogs in lots of circumstances- cats, other dogs, children etc etc. PLEASE don't discard us just because our previous owner has- we all can move on with your help! Don't forget the golden oldies too!"

It's been tough, but I helped mum, dad and Turbo a lot!

Happy new year to all of you! 2024 has been an emotional roller coaster, and so mentally draining. In Oct, we lost our amazing 10 month old puppy Fletch, and we still haven't recovered fully. However, we are working hard to treasure his legacy by helping other pupstars! Turbo was found to be suffering from IBD, but he was a superstar at the vets: needing no aneasthetic: allowing them to shave his tummy and scan him! It took a while to stabilise his condition, but he has gained weight: and our old lady Midge has mild arthritis down one side.....it's been a tough old year! But, 2025 is a new start, and we look forward to welcoming you on our journey! 2025: bring it on!!

Hello!! Great news! My blood results came back, and everything is how it should be: all in normal levels..geat teeth, great heart and ideal weight.....mum says she wishes she was the same! ;) Had a fab walk today in my jacket and alls good! Us older dogs do take a little more care, but it dosnt mean we love you any less :) Check out my little bald patch!!

Went to the vets today for some blood tests! Because I'm older, they need to check I'm in tip top shape so I can have some pain killers for my arthritis: it is mild, but as its getting colder, I hurt more, I can't manage long walks, and I am getting grumpy with Turbo. Fingers and paws crossed we get some good news, but my heart is really good, and my teeth are fab :) (it's all the chewing keeping them clean!)

Here's wishing you all a very merry Christmas! I don't mind dressing up, so long as there is a tasty treat involved....(or a cup of tea!) Mum's starting a puppy course in January to help all the youngsters get the best start on their life's journey!

New Puppy course starting January!! Please do share, and if interested, do contact us: we train both ends of the lead to help make a confident, happy puppy!
We are looking to also hold an intermediate course for the older dogs too: this will be starting at 8pm till 9pm: still working on the curriculum, but do watch this space!!

Well, it's firework month! :/ Someone let off an airbomb close to the house while we were toileting....(it was 5pm) Now Turbo is a little hyper vigilant and pacing. His tummy is taking a battering too as he has IBD so if he gets stressed/ upset/ overexcited, he has a very bad stomach. I on the other hand really don't care. This was me at the height of the noise.....I know all you guys here are animal lovers, but do spare a thought for all the dogs who are terrified....if your neighbours have pets, just pop a note through the door saying when you are letting the fireworks off....it would make it a little easier for everyone! FM xx

It's been a sad week at home. My baby brother had to have xrays as he had some problems which needed to be checked. Sadly he had so many, and recovery and operations would have been so long, moogie and dad sent him over the bridge. He would never be able to run, to play with anyone, to be be off lead.....he was only a baby at 10 months old. We miss him terribly, and I've only just been able to snooze on his bed this past day or so. He drove me crackers, but I did love him, and made sure he was safe while out walking!! Give your dogs a hug and think of Fletch.....he loved everyone!

Mum goes to bed early as she is up early for work....the first 3 pics are at 9pm.....our puppy isn't too well at the moment, and for once we saw the lights! Not as good as some, but we saw some!! The last lot were about 12.30 :)

It's national black dog day today! Sadly black dogs get overlooked in rescue all the time, often labelled as a BBD (boring black dog) I'm anything but boring, and mum loves me to absolute pieces! (As do my big little brothers!) Midge 13 years and tea lover extraordinaire!

I went to a fun dog show at the weekend with mum. I won 4th prettiest bitch too! It's been ages since me and moogie had a girly day, and I absolutely loved it! No one could believe I was 13 too! I had LOADS of cuddles, and won loads of treats too!

Been to the vets today for my annual mot and booster! Mum says I've put weight on (erm, look in the mirror!!) But the vets aren't too concerned: I'm 13 years old, my teeth are fantastic, my lump isn't getting any bigger, my joints improving (thanks Jessica Parker Veterinary Physiotherapy ! ) and my heart is spot on! Woohoo! We all celebrated with a walk round rabbit ings afterwards. Shattered but been a good day!!

Been with mum to archery today! (I was in the shade with lots of water and my cool coat) really enjoyed myself poddling up and down the shooting field to collect the arrows. Turbo had his walk this morning, si Fletchers going for his this evening. I'm having a snooze now, but I've really enjoyed myself! :)

Did you know, the dog who played Ghost in Game of thrones was a rescue from The Northern Inuit Society?! What a flag to fly for rescue dogs!! Strut your stuff: there's even a best trick class!!
