During the events of 9/11, amongst the heroes who risked their lives saving as many as they could, they were dogs too. I will always remember the pictures of that day. Dogs and their handlers, covered in dust and ashes, exhausted... I have so much respect for what you did that day, and for all the dog teams out there serving others, everyday, all over the world.

When the World Trade Center collapsed on 9/11, nearly 10,000 rescue workers joined in the efforts. Over 300 of those heroes were dogs.

One for the cat owners for once, but too important not to share.

Important information for all pet owners - product recall of Armitage Pet Care Flea and Tick Drops following potentially fatal packaging error.

An important message for parents to give to their children. They mean well when they hug, but most dogs do not like it.

It may come as a shock to owners, but dogs hate being cuddled, a study has shown. Animal psychologists say dogs feel stressed and unhappy when they are embraced by their owners, because it stops them being able to run away. In a study which analysed 250 pictures of dogs as they were being hugged, eā€¦

Does anyone recognise this German Shepherd? This youngish unneutered male was found in the Leaves Green/Keston area and was clearly distressed at being lost. If you recognise this dog, please email [email protected] and we can put you in touch with the relevant authorities.

This is awesome. Would you eat them?

Remember if you find a bedraggled dog or cat they may only have been missing for a short time and have a heart broken owner searching for them.

Bramble's owner shared these before and after pictures to show the difference in her appearance after five months and is proof positive appearances can be deceiving. Bramble is microchipped.

A missing petā€™s shiny groomed coat can quickly become matted and dirty. The dog may not look anything like his/her posted photo. Remember this when looking for a lost dog or cat. Make note of any distinguishing marks or colour patterns when comparing lost and found photos. (like a pretty pink nose). Donā€™t assume it has been neglected. So happy this girl made it home.

By law in England and Wales you must report a stray dog to the local dog warden. If you keep it, sell it or give it away you could face a prison sentence or be fined, if found guilty of ā€˜theft of an animal by findingā€™.

What you can do to help reunite a lost dog or cat find it's owner:-

The animal may be microchipped, you can take it to the vets, who will scan for free and contact the relevant database if a microchip is found.

Call the Animal wardens to report, which is the law. Contact details across the UK:- http://www.animalwardens.co.uk/lost-found-dogs-search/all-dog-warden-phone-numbers

Check on missing pet web pages such as Doglost.co.uk where you can check the lost pets and also register a found pet for free.

Social media is playing a big part in reuniting lost pets, take a picture and share with friends, local pages and on Twitter.

MAKE SURE YOU SEE PROOF OF OWNERSHIP BEFORE HANDING OVER A MISSING PET. Photographs, vet bills, registration documents....If you are unsure let the animal warden deal with the situation.

Note to all dog owner's:- Your dog must wear a collar with an ID tag, even if it is microchipped.

In the UK, the Control of Dogs Order 1992 states that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address (including postcode) of the owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a tag. Your telephone number was optional but we would recommend this.
You could be fined up to Ā£5,000 if your dog does not wear an identification tag

Beautiful!

It has been a very long time since a have had the chance to do a boxer. I love the breed and would welcome the challenge of a brindle. I don't get staffies or bulldogs either - go on you know you want to. Before the prices go up!!
