Thank you Kerrie, for such a magnificent review. Training dogs is wonderful, but making such a difference to people's lives is utterly priceless and humbling.
At a loss of how to manage our troublesome but loveable dog,we were recommended to contact Mark Henshaw @ The Cheeky Chihuahua.
This decision has proven to be one of the best decisions we as a dog owner have ever made.
From the first consultation, we knew that Mark was right for us and our dog.He gave helpful tips without judgement and made us feel positive we could help manage our dogs behaviour better.
Mark suggested we brought our tearaway to his ' Teenage Tearaway Class'
I asked our teenage son to to accompany us.
What a fantastic group,Mark has developed. All like minded dog owners who just want to help their dogs.
But,little did I know that Mark would end up helping our son as well.
Our son has Autism, ADHD and Dyspraxia. Social interactions are incredibly difficult for him,but he loves our dog so wanted to try.
Mark recognised our sons disabilities and gently encouraged him to join in,he took an interest in what our son was studying at college.
Our son soon began to love the group sessions ,just as much as our dog.So much so that when I was unable to to attend one session, he took our dog on his own.I'm not sure who was prouder Mark or myself !
I have watched both our dog and son flourish under Marks guidance and care.It seems that not only is he a magnificent dog trainer, but has the ability to encourage us mere humans to.
You couldn't wish for a better dog trainer than Mark Henshaw.

Dog behaviorism training with The Cheeky Chihuahua is growing in popularity, more people are joining our doggy courses and asking for dog behavior advice.

After a great deal of thought, Oliver has joined our most recent Puppy Course which started last week. He told me that the treats on offer at The Cheeky Chihuahua's puppy classes were magnificent, and that's why he chose us. Oliver also said that going to a class that's run by a qualified Institute of Modern Dog Trainers human is essential to his emotional wellbeing. As are free treats! Who can argue with such wisdom?

I make a point of doing a puppy training course each year, and ensure it's with a reputable organisation. Why? Because there's a misconception that if someone wants to start dog training, starting with puppies is the easy way to begin. In reality, anyone claiming to be a trainer or behaviourist and working with puppies really needs to know their stuff. A knowledge deficit, with no understanding of a puppy's fear and hazard avoidance phases, can lead to lifelong emotional and behavioural problems.

Betty is a timid little girl, who went to a class where the 'trainer' thought it was a great idea to shove another dog's arse in her face, "because that's how dogs meet". With nowhere left to go, Betty bit the offending posterior. She'd started to get more fearful around dogs, but thankfully her humans contacted Weston's most celebrated Chihuahua inspired qualified trainer and behaviourist, and we're turning things around.

Don't be afraid to ask for evidence of qualifications and experience. Dog training is utterly unregulated, which sadly means that literally anyone can call themselves a trainer or behaviourist, even if they've never seen a dog. Also, ask for evidence of continued professional development (CPD). I'm a qualified member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, and I'm required to prove that I've maintained my CPD annually to be allowed to renew my membership. I, along with other local reputable Trainers, spend a small fortune on my own canine education to make sure I'm at the forefront of the developments in canine behaviour. Dog training and, particularly, dog behaviour modification is scientific.

I could go on, but I'm sure you get the gist! Changing the subject completely: I'm about to enrol in a condensed week-long online plumbing course to get accredited. With this in mind, you can book your annual boiler service with me, via the usual number. And if you could also lend me an adjustable spanner, because I won't really know what I'm doing and don't have the appropriate equipment. Please don't let that concern you, I'll have a certificate. What could possibly go wrong?!

Mantrailing is a wonderful way for you and your dog to have fun together, not to mention a great mental and physical exercise. We'll be starting a new 4 week course on Friday 10th October, from 1pm until 3pm, with each week being held at a different location in and around Weston.

You'll learn to work as a team, on increasingly challenging trails, across different terrains that will provide the mental stimulation that our dogs love. The group will be limited to 4 teams, with dogs being worked individually. This is low-impact exercise is suitable for ANY dog, even those with issues that would bar them from other dog sports.

This course is £150 for the 4 weeks, which will cover full training for both human and trainee sniffer hounds.
