Autumn is a beautiful time for getting out and about with your dog, but there's a few health hazards to be aware of!

๐ŸŒฐ Acorns can upset your dogs stomach if ingested and are also a choking hazard and can cause blockages
๐Ÿ„ Wild mushrooms are in abundance this year but can be toxic to dogs and can cause vomiting, diarrhoea or illness
๐Ÿซ Not all berries are safe! Some berries that grow this time of year are toxic and it's not always easy to identify them so best to avoid any berry-picking!
๐Ÿ Fallen leaves can be a recipe for mould and bacteria which could be ingested when your dog sniffs, chews or plays in leaf piles
โ„๏ธ Antifreeze will start to make an appearance soon as is very poisonous to dogs even in small quantities - they can ingest it by licking their paws so be extra vigilant!

This month we're giving you some Raw Truths and answering some of the most common questions we get asked in store about raw food diets.

Kicking it off with our first FAQ: ๐‘ช๐’‚๐’ ๐‘ฐ ๐’‡๐’†๐’†๐’… ๐’Ž๐’š ๐’…๐’๐’ˆ ๐’Œ๐’Š๐’ƒ๐’ƒ๐’๐’† ๐’‚๐’๐’๐’๐’ˆ๐’”๐’Š๐’…๐’† ๐’“๐’‚๐’˜ ๐’‡๐’๐’๐’…?

Well this isn't a simple answer! We are growing increasingly aware that any amount of fresh nutrition that you can add to a kibble is potentially a good thing. Also if a dog is underweight adding some raw tripe on top as a dressing can be a really good way of adding extra protein and calories.

But, kibble causes a slightly more alkaline stomach acid. Raw fed dogs have a very acidic stomach juice, so if you feed a raw (that includes bone) with a high percentage kibble meal, there is a risk that the bone will sit in the stomach longer, not get broken down by the stomach acid and there is a change that potentially the dog will vomit a pile of small bone pieces hours later, or the bone may travel through the digestive tract and potentially lead to issues.
