The red-bellied Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri), is a type of Piranha native to South America, found in the Amazon, Paraguay, ParanΓ‘ as well as coastal rivers of northeastern Brazil.
They have freshwater habitat with a temperature range of 24Β°-28Β°C They are omnivorous and feed on insects, worms, crustaceans, and fish.
Red-bellied piranhas often travel in shoals as a predatory defense but rarely exhibit group hunting behaviour.
