Canis k9, offering premium walk & train services for training conscious owners. All breeds welcome Why did I decided to start walks for all?
(7)
truthfully there's not many people id trust to take out my 3 sled dogs, also many times we have cut family days short to get back for the dogs as I have no one to let them out. knowing there will be so many more people out there who would love to use a dog walking service but struggle to find someone they would trust I decided to create a business out of my passion. When I'm not walking and traini
ng my dogs. I live an extremely active lifestyle hiking, biking with my dogs and attending the gym. I have dedicated years to understanding dogs, formal handling and training with some of the uk's leading experts in the field im also currently studying a canine behaviour course with uk top dog behaviourist Will Atherton. My main priority is always the welfare and safety of your beloved furry friend.... but of course we will have so much fun! I spend time getting to know each dog individually and there drive. Physical and mental stimulation is a must, creating a trusting bond together. Each walk is tailored towards your dog and its needs. Maybe you are ill of health or work long hours? Rest assure I am a reliable and trustworthy service. I have a valid DBS, insurance and have a wealth of experience handling many dog breeds big and small. Not only do I offer regular dog walking bookings but also cater to one off drop ins, balanced structured walks, puppy drop ins and training packages, one to one balanced walk training and so much more.... please don't hesitate to contact me for a tailored package!

Photo dump..... because iv been absolutely slacking on socials. Mainly because how busy I am 🤣 a good problem to have when it involves your passion ❤️🔥 but also because social media at times can be a pretty rubbish place. Spending time in the real world not worrying about getting the perfect shot or writing up the best catchphrase.
Let's talk genetics.....
In light of recent events regarding powerful breeds, I think it's really important people understand what part genetics really play when it comes to our beloved pets.
Unfortunately, not everyone truly understands the capabilities of the dog they bring home, sometimes it can almost be pot luck.... especially when we have no true background on genetic traits in blood lines.
For example everybody knows.... oh that's a collie there so intelligent and learn so quick.... yes but with a lack of physical and mental stimulation that can easily be displaced in to car chasing, children biting & herding, aggression and anxiety.
Did you know there are often show line and working line versions of breeds? Most people Unfortunately don't. The difference in these two lines couldn't be further apart. This is how unfortunately high drive working breeds are accidentally ending up in pet homes.... a recipe for disaster.
Please, please thoroughly do your research when it comes to breeds.... the good, the bad, the ugly. If it goes wrong how wrong can it go? What's realistic for me to give time, money and commitment wise to this new dog? If in doubt, speak to an established trainer and ask about the breed your interested in. Find a good breeder who adds to the breed standards for temperament not just looks, ask yourself can I honestly physically manage this dog if it were to go wrong? The breeder should be able to answer questions about working or show lines, if they can't it's simply pot luck what your buying.
Genetics matter.
PANTS 😍
let's talk small dogs..... It's so refreshing to meet an owner who takes the responsibility of owning a small dog just as seriously as a large dog. He has structure and boundaries, guidance and lots and lots of fun! Small dogs can often be treated very differently, for a small dog to feel confident and at ease we have to show them in a way they understand there's no need to be scared.

Tuesday night bitework 🐊
2 star boys 😍 both worked on lots of high distractions and impulse control.
Dogs are being seized just by looks, the police can seize a bully breed if theh believe it may have pit bull in them.... Read the below. Don't sign the paperwork!
‼️ NEVER SIGN POLICE PAPERS ‼️
No matter what the police tell you, never sign any papers or put your signature on a digital device if they seize your dog.
Police may say you will never get your dog back, this is not true.
They may say it will cost you £1000s, we can help.
They may say you will get a criminal record, that depends on the charges.
They may pressure you with all sorts of things, you have the right to refuse a signature, it may save your dogs life.
Only a court can decide the future of your dog if you don't sign them over to the police. With the right advice and legal team, plus an independent assessment if necessary you stand a very good chance of getting your dog home with conditions.
This is Cali, she was a family pet, she adored the little people in her home, she was great with the other family dog, she was loved by everyone in her home. Her owner thought she had no choice other than to sign the police paperwork, by the time her owner contacted us it was too late, she had already been put to sleep 😭
If your dog is seized contact us asap, there is a message facility at the top of this page, we will respond quickly. We can advise you, put you in touch with all the experts you need and help with fundraising if needed.
Run free forever Cali, there is no judgement at Rainbow Bridge 🌈 your family's hearts are shattered today 💔
Monday ✨️ great start to the week.
A letter from Defra - Feb 2018.
This letter was sent by Defra just two weeks before Michael Gove had dinner with Carrie Johnson - the animal rights activists and then fiancé of the since proven-liar and subsequently disgraced mp who became prime minister, Boris Johnson.
This letter refers to THE EXACT SAME STUDY that the EXACT SAME GOVERNMENT are now calling ‘Robust scientific research’ - The EXACT SAME STUDY they are using to support the need for a blanket ban on e-collars.
Let me cite and emphasise DEFRA’s own words:
“Evidence from the studies was NOT STRONG ENOUGH to support a ban … The claim that electronic training aids MAY BE no more effective than other training methods is NOT IN ITSELF A REASON TO IMPOSE A BAN”
So what changed in two weeks?
Nothing more than a dinner between a politically connected animal rights activist and a vote hungry politician.
NOW try to convince yourself that the e-collar ban proposal is based on animal welfare more than it is corruption, power and politics.
It appears I have so many cracking pictures of the dogs..... and useless at posting them recently! 😄
Happy Lab
Nala has come along so well with her manners, obedience & dog neutrality.
50 shades of ginger 🤣
So much learning and lots of laughter. Brilliant seminar with Brilliant people.
What an absolutely amazing 4 days! The NePoPo®️ Hans Verbruggen seminar was nothing short of incredible. Paws in Nature had the honour of being around uk based very accomplished and talented professionals from Somerset to Livingstone. My face still hurts from all the laughs we had! Here’s to many more seminars hosting the top genius minds in our industry Hans Verbruggen Dogtraining
Boys Gang....
3 young intact males
With the right boundaries, training and relationship you can have a male dog that can interact with other males.
Yes some of this comes down to the dogs genetics, but so many times it's how 2 males meet and its more about the relationship with the handler. Some strong male characters may always need more management around other intact males but again that's possible with the right handler / dog relationship. It's about truly knowing your dog and not making excuses for a lack of training.
Let's talk weather.....
The number 1 priority will always be the dogs welfare. Heat stroke is no joke and not worth risking!
This week walks will be early I will let people know when the dogs have been dropped off.
Some individual walks may be home based, meaning I'll be going in to ensure toilet breaks, garden time, fresh water replenished. Dogs left home for long periods on their own are likely to have this service to ensure they have a mid way break.
All dogs will be given plenty to drink.
I'll pick places with shaded areas, water and cooler environments.
Some walks may need to be shorter and less intense regarding exercise to ensure no over heating, using lots of structure and mental stimulation.
Any questions please don't hesitate to send me a message over.
Again as always my main priority is the safety of the dogs ♥️

Another day in beauty 🌿
I truly do feel blessed to be able to do what I enjoy. All the dogs I work with have a genuine place in my heart ❤️ and this is just the beginning.
We're glad the truth is getting out!
Little pocket rocket Bonnie 🚀
Sweetest nature, she's just so loving and friendly!
No too sure what to caption this 🤔 😆
This may not seem a big deal but Orlaith willingly jumped up on the bench without me even needing to ask! That's a huge growth in confidence, she can feel abit overwhelmed by dogs invading her space or moving to quick but the difference in her from day 1.... she's come on so much!! It's the little things we sometimes don't take note of that show the real changes over time in a dogs behaviour. 💯
Rupert 😍 place training never looked so good!
Warmer days are coming..... I'll be making sure on warmer days our walks are as early as possible. Safety is always first and heat stroke is taken super seriously.
Super proud of how well Alfie is settling in to pack life. He's a typical friendly, confident spaniel. Tonnes of drive and be quite pushy..... just how we like them!
Wow just wow.

Tory do as I say not as I do as always! . Read to the bottom for your call to action! . ❗️The Secretary of State for DEFRA @theresecoffey has been pushing this ban through, all whilst receiving, buying and using an Ecollar on her own dog! . ❗️Ecollar technology containment fences to keep your children’s sandpit or flower beds un damaged are LEGAL, however, to use one to prevent and train dogs reliable recall and protect wildlife and livestock would be ILLEGAL! . ❗️Tories do not care about their rural constituents that live in and amongst wildlife, they couldn’t care less about the nearly 3000 reported deaths of sheep by dogs in the UK - the ecollar is the only PROVEN method of livestock aversion! A lead is not enough! . ❗️Not one single case of animal abuse has been brought from using an Ecollar and the studies and consultation was flawed, inaccurate and bias. The conclusions didn’t relate to the evidence brought or the data in the consultation. @rishisunakmp @theresecoffey @10downingstreet @ukgovofficial @ukfactcheckpolitics
PLEASE SHARE AND RE TAG FAR AND WIDE! Tory HYPOCRISY yet more proof of our corrupt government! . I have no faith @rishisunakmp and @10downingstreet this @conservatives government doesn’t care about animal welfare enough to study the usage, benefits and data correctly enough to base these laws on TRUTH! Tory Hypocrisy at its finest! . I do not want to be criminalised for training my dog appropriately with an ecollar. I will NEVER vote tory! .
Think it's safe to say Evie made so much progress today! She's absolutely adorable and at 8 months, now is the time to start adding in some more structure as her owner had been struggling with some over excitability around dogs and people. She's a super sweet natured girl, adding in foundations to work on her owner now has a clear direction and training plan to put in to place. She has a clear vision of how she'd like to enjoy her time out and about with Evie, allowing her to be social but learning there's a time and a place for certain behaviours. @canisk9_uk @canisk9_uk @canisk9_uk #cockerspaniel #husky #spanielsofinsta #spanielsofinstagram #huskyworld #dogtraining #dogtrainer #wigan #manchester #dog #mansbestfriend #ilovemydog
If there's one thing above all others you should master its loose lead walking..... why? If your dog is way out in front not only are you totally irrelevant but they are dealing with the world.... reactivity issues, recall issues, fear based issues..... you'd be surprised how much loose lead walking mends the relationship between you and your dog. Check out the eye contact from Barry...hes looking to me for direction! I'm making the decisions, I'm leading the walk. Dogs thrive off stable, fair leadership. The more decisions you make for your dog the less stupid ones they make. To Dogs leadership is love, with loving leadership comes freedom ❤️
Nala's first walk together ❤️ nala is a typical lab, friendly, energetic, bright and so loving! Her owners came to me after moving in to the area looking for a new walker. She's a super social girl who's used to group walks before with lots of dogs. However she's a really strong puller on the lead, so we got to work teaching her some lead manners and supplying her with a much more structured walk. Engaging her brain not just endlessly running around. We practiced heel work, played fetch, practiced her obedience and did some scent work. Once nala has learned her lead manners we will be adding her to some group walks 🥰
Structured walks for bertie and arlo. Can you believe that both dogs have had trainers in regarding behaviour issues previously? Always start with obedience when dogs meet. We did some calm sit stays, heel work, impulse drills and more... setting the tone for free time so no one way hyped up. Both lads did amazing 👏
Welcome Rupert 🤗 what a guy, focused, driven and very switched on! A typical collie who thrives off direction. Yesterday was about testing his obedience with myself and building a structured bond. By giving Rupert obedience drills on and off lead he has the leadership he needs to safely be off lead in all areas. Do you have a driven dog like Rupert who could benefit from some extra mental stimulation? Get in touch 🐾💥
How long do I need to train my dog for? 🤔 Training is a way of life, dogs always need structure and boundaries to flourish. High energy breeds especially, why? Nothing compares to off lead freedom for a dog genetically bred to run for hours. Love your dog with leadership ❤️
Rules of play..... yes even play time has rules. Why? Puppies need to be taught everything..... before throwing the ball would involve Alfie getting it and the game was me chasing him around to try get it....fun right? Nope. But adding a lead I can guide Alfie what the rules of the game are and pair it with verbal cues and praise. As you can see a few times of directing him back to me patiently teaching him how to leave the ball and also fairly communicating with him in a way he understands I'm not to be chewed and nipped (normal puppy behaviour) by the end of play he was Independently coming directly to me as I create the fun! He's also learning eye contact and being calm gets rewarded. Everything positive comes through me. All this is paired up with verbal cues transfers to every day life and setting the foundations for a balanced well behaved boy, yes he's a small cute puppy now but by 6-9 months Alfie will be adult size and have more strength and hit adolescents. Training starts from day 1 always.
Bertie needs alot of structure and fair leadership. He's super anxious and structured heel work, obedience and boundaries in the right way removes stress of him having to make decisions for himself because he's kept busy thinking of following not stressing and worrying over his environment thinking he's dealing with what he finds a scary world on his own. We've got this Bertie 👍
Super proud of my lovely client Jennifer Lusher years of not wanting to walk George on her road because of his reactivity to other dogs. What a difference and were just getting started. Can't wait to take George out for a 1-2-1 walk and train tomorrow ❤️ his nervous nature means he needs real leadership and direction but lots of positive reinforcement thrown in when George is making the right choices. The bond jen and George have really is beautiful he just needed that little bit of extra direction.
What a difference before Trafford would just pull, he was nervous and quite frantic on walks. His owner asked for help with his lead manners. I think we have delivered 🙂 he is now so much more relaxed, he gived eye contact looking for direction and waits. But more importantly he's calm and confident.
