🐾 **Elbow Dysplasia in Dogs** 🐾

Hey pet parents! Let’s talk about elbow dysplasia, a common condition in larger breeds that can cause pain and mobility issues.

It’s a developmental abnormality in the elbow joint that can lead to arthritis.

Arthritis in dogs 👉

Arthritis is a common joint disease that affects one in five dogs, and can be just as painful for them as it is for us.

While 80% of dogs show signs of Arthritis by age eight, the other 20% of dogs can develop it from as early as one.

These are just some of the signs that your dog may be suffering from the condition! Some of the signs may be subtle so keep a close eye on your pooches 🐶

Little Peggy struggles with respiratory problems.After a good warm up this movement on its own relaxes her so much. You wouldn't believe the amount of tension that is created by respiratory problems.

There are so many muscles in the neck and the horse's head is heavy! It weighs about 10% of its total body weight.
A big horses head can weigh approximately 16 kg !

Can you imagine struggling with asthma then having to lift that head?

Luckily her owner does whatever she can for Peggy and this is the result. Relaxed Pony 💕

When Winnie decides she needs a rest 😂 💤

Doing strengthening exercises in rehabilitation can be hard work. Although to the human eye these are little poles, this pooch has recovered from paralysis and is walking!

Doing poles and introducing different surfaces helps them out in the real world 🌎 the garden or your walks.
This is in a controlled environment so we can see what she can and can't do, which then shows the owner what level she is at for her walking.

REST is also very important! This gives the body time to recover and then work to it's full capacity again.

Dogs think in the now & adrenaline takes over in the great outdoors! But doing this prepares her and gives her the best chance at doing it again :)

🐶 Little Ruby 🐶

🏥 Diagnosis- Cruciate ligament rupture.
🏥 Recovery - TPLO surgery
🏥 Physiotherapy post operation

Ruby is an old girl, 5 months ago she had surgery for her left hind cruciate ligament. Unfortunately at that time the vets said it was a matter of time before the other leg went. This is very common with Cruciates.
But she had a very good stint between her last surgery, which the vets said themselves said they were surprised it lasted as long as it did! Her owner opted to not have the other leg operated on due to age.

In that time Ruby had laser therapy and strengthening exercises which has now given her the opportunity to use that leg to help whilst we rehabilitate the other!

If Lucy's owner hadn't done this she wouldn't have enjoyed her summer and wouldn't have been able to use either leg 🦵🏻

Physiotherapy is a vital part of recovery, pre and post operation. Sadly it isn't always mentioned or known about.

Rory brings himself to our appointments after his Cruciate ligament injury :)

🥹 Please pay for missed appointments upfront before your next one. I don't like asking for it either, it makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Sadly I will have to change all my maintenance clients to pre-pay if it's continues to happen.

It states 48 hours notice is needed in the terms and conditions you tick before your very first appointment.

Extreme circumstances are taken into account.
