Busy two days with Animal Capture UK. On Sunday, 'Pandora' a Portugese rescue dog was re-captured in Wi******er, bringing her back into safe hands after dicing with death on a busy road for three days. This was a joint operation ,with our partners in Canine Capture UK, the UK's leading specialists in difficult dog capture and recovery. A huge thank you go to Dave and Hannah (Animal Capture UK), Rob (Veterinary Surgeon), Nicki and Sarah (Canine Capture UK), and David, Ali, Christine, Marie and Ruth the wonderful people of Wi******er who helped make sure this operation was a success. Thank you to you all.

And, yesterday Animal Capture UK attended a stag in the Midlands that had become wrapped in electric fencing and was in danger of injuring itself, and again my thanks go to Dave (Animal Capture UK), Julian Stoyel (Red Oak Deer) for recommending us, and of course the farm staff who helped with the un-tangling exercise.

Both animals were safely dealt with using Animal Capture UK's professional darting team, and the hi-tech equipment that ensures that both animals can now go on to live a happy, trouble-free life.

Wendy - The Never Ending Story!
This is the story in pictures of the recovery of Wendy, a Tunisian rescue dog. Wendy was the subject of a race against time.

The Animal Capture UK (ACUK) & Canine Capture UK (CCUK) alliance, with the support of Muzzle Mutts effected a successful capture using CIT (Chemical Immobilisation Technology) & specialist tracking equipment, whilst at the same time she was being hunted by marksmen intent on shooting her.

Thankfully, the professional expertise of ACUK & CCUK, and the specialist equipment used by the teams meant that she could be safely caught quickly.

Thank you to all involved in helping bring a happy ending to this story, and a huge thank you to Joe Matten for recording this story in pictures whilst our team concentrated on the job in hand.

Busy few days for Animal Capture UK and Canine Capture UK. The team effected three important captures using CIT; one night time dog capture in Manchester; a rare daytime dog capture in Scotland; and the re-capture of a 12 month old Heifer in Shropshire. Once again, bringing together the professional expertise of the UK's only specialists in this field, the team were able to bring three vulnerable animals back to safety. Thank you to the CCUK team, Laura & Greg in Manchester, the team from Muzzle Mutts who were crucial in helping bring 'Wendy' to Safety by working closely with CCUK, and to Barry Spencer, our Animal Capture UK specialist covering the midlands.

Animal Capture UK with associates Canine Capture UK helped carry out another capture job last night in Staffordshire. Flora, a Bosnian Rescue dog had been roaming the streets and was brought back to safety using Chemical Immobilisation Technology and digital tracking equipment.

Our sincere thanks go to Canine Capture UK, our Veterinary Surgeon who effected a difficult recovery from a blackthorn thicket, and not least the local people who helped in the stabilisation of Flora's movements and during the final recovery operation.

It was once again a pleasure to work closely with our associates in Canine Capture UK, where the joining of professional skills by Animal Capture UK's specialist darting team, and the Canine Capture UK Dog Capture Team. Another testament to the fact that when there are no options left, the use of darting and dedicated tracking equipment makes the difference - even in darkness.

BUT as always, its not just the work that we do in Animal Capture UK that brings about a successful outcome, it's the cooperative working strategy of dedicated local people, the live capture specialists and the support teams. Collectively, everyone did their bit. Thank you all, and especially to Nicki Scriven and Karen who used her local knowledge to direct us to where Hari could be recovered safely.

SAFE - HARI a Romanian rescue who escaped from his new adopter’s home in Essex, on 17th November 2018. A joint effort with local team Tilly's Angels, involving many weeks tracking and trying to trap Hari, finally ended on 21st January when he was sedated using a tranquilising dart. Hari had originally settled in an area and hopes were high that he could be trapped, but New Year fireworks caused him to move on and it was several weeks before he was sighted again. Hari eventually found his way to Two Trees Island where he befriended the local foxes sharing the food local residents were putting out for them. As Hari was so reluctant to go anywhere near a trap, and had an adequate food supply locally, the decision was made to dart, rather than leave him at risk any longer.

Specials thanks to Tilly's Angels helpers in particular Ann who spent many hours trying to get Hari safe, and the local fox-feeders who worked with us to get Hari safe ❤

We are raising funds for a thermal unit to help with locating dogs like Hari http://bit.ly/helpbuyathermal, please consider donating.

The Animal Capture UK & Canine Capture UK alliance once again work together to bring lost/escaped dogs back home to safety. This time in Nottingham where a Romanian Rescue dog had escaped from its temporary foster carers to spend almost six weeks on the run. The dog 'Annie', ran the gauntlet on a daily basis, crossing a busy main road to find food. It is thanks to the kind hearted local people who gave their commitment for free to help bring Annie back home safely, and the professional skills of ACUK/CCUK to provide valuable strategic planning to allow the ultimate use of darting equipment, using CIT (Chemical Immobilisation Technology), night vision sighting systems and digital tracking equipment to observe, sedate and ensure a swift, smooth recovery from her sleepy experience. Night-time darting is becoming the norm for ACUK specialists as more and more rescues become aware that darkness is no barrier to achieving a successful capture using CIT.

CALLING ALL DOG TRAPPING TEAMS! - It has come to our notice that one or two dog trapping teams/organisations are suggesting that dog trappers will need to have a licence to do this in the foreseeable future. To reassure current trapping teams, I can confirm that there is no current legislation that I am aware of, and no pending legislation to suggest that such activities involving escaped dogs will require a licence. Whilst it is clear that some organisations are attempting to suggest that licensing is imminent - no doubt to eliminate potential competition - there is simply no substance to this as far as I am aware. Naturally anyone who is involved with the trapping of dogs MUST comply with the legislation relating to animal welfare, and I would expect that everyone is doing that anyway. I will of course inform everyone if this position changes, or is likely to change in the foreseeable future. If you have any concerns or queries in this matter, please feel free to speak to us at Animal Capture UK/Canine Capture UK and we would be pleased to help. ... In the meantime, please do carry on with the good work that you are all doing to bring escaped dogs back to safety. DOG RECOVERY IN HAMPSHIRE - CANINE CAPTURE UK/ANIMAL CAPTURE UK

We are delighted to report another successful dog capture earlier this evening using CIT. Whilst we encourage owner management in the first 12 hours of an escape, in some cases it is imperative that the animal is brought safely home quickly due to a potentially life-threatening environment. In this case a busy road was simply too dangerous for the animal to spend any more time near it than was absolutely necessary, and CIT was the only sensible option.

Thank you to the Canine Capture UK and Animal Capture UK teams, as well as our Veterinary Consultant for another team effort that resulted in a dog being brought safely home.

Sound advice from Canine Capture UK

Not all the people that contact us require traps or the services of a marksmen to tranquilise their dog, often owners following our advice are able to get their dog safe themselves, particularly if they contact us as soon as the dog is lost.
Lurcher, Misty, bolted out of her owners front door on 29th May 2018 in Pontypridd. Misty’s very concerned owner made contact within 24 hours explaining that well meaning people were making attempts to grab Misty. This was causing her to frantically run miles in all directions making silly mistakes regards her safety. The owner followed advice given and following attempts to get home hours earlier, Misty finally ran back through the owners door around 9am on 31st May 2018
Rosco jumped out of the car window wearing a harness in the Bridgend area of South Wales on Sunday afternoon 27th May 2018 following a car accident outside his home. He had been with the family 7 weeks. There were no sightings of him by Monday afternoon, so an extremely worried owner contacted us for help. The owner followed advice given and lay a 3 mile long trail, a clue for Rosco - Rosco turned up on the doorstep of his home at midnight, without his harness, but safe and sound!
Patsy a Spanish rescue podenco was spooked by something on a walk and ran off in Welwyn Garden City – although she had been with the family 3 years, she is extremely nervous and cannot easily be approached even by the family, so we assisted with advice and communicated locally, in order to avoid well-meaning helpers trying to catch her. Her owner was able to contact friends whose dogs she knew, and that evening they went down a track on the off chance, and there she was, and soon started playing with their dogs. The owner quickly went there - at first she wouldn't come near to them, but she was so tired that in the end she jumped in their car.

A shot in the Dark!! ... And Ruby is in from the Cold, Wet Night!

Only 12 hours after her capture using professional CIT equipment, Ruby is enjoying a new life in warmth and safety, the wagging tail is living testament to the value of CIT and darting as a method of safe capture when all other options have been exhausted.

Thank you to Emma, Kaye, Rob, Shaun & Ryan for your patience, commitment and care that collectively helped to bring Ruby home safely.

CANINE CAPTURE UK / ANIMAL CAPTURE UK.. IF YOU'RE GONNA DO IT, DO IT RIGHT!

I am delighted to report yet another successful capture of a vulnerable escaped dog using Chemical Immobilisation Technology (CIT) and the professional alliance of ANIMAL CAPTURE UK and CANINE CAPTURE UK, delivering another successful outcome to the absolute delight of all concerned. Once again patience, professionalism, teamwork and state-of-the-art technology in qualified hands paid off, bringing Ruby in from the cold, wet Welsh night! Time was running out for this beautiful little dog, and so the only logical decision was to engage professionals and a high-tech strategy to effect a safe, humane and successful capture. Thank you Emma B for making the right decision!

3 Limousin X Heifers returned safely back to the farm!

Lucky that all three Limousin X heifers were sedated and all went to sleep together!! ... A successful outcome in an extraordinary environment! ... Only 15 metres from one of the busiest motorways in the UK, there were only two options - shoot to kill, or dart. After careful assessment of the animals' behaviour, it was decided that live capture was going to be the most appropriate method of getting them back to safety. Thanks to our ACUK team, the Vets and the Farm staff. The teamwork paid off and the animals were returned safely to their shed.

Great news from Team CCUK

SAFE - SILVA, a Spanish rescue pointer escaped from her foster in Havant on the 24th May. Fortunately she remained in the area, and we were able to help with advice and a large trap. The trap had to be moved several times as Silva moved, but local helper Jacqui stayed out all-night and day observing Silva as she was near a railway line. They moved the trap again on the morning of 28th as she had moved to the other side of the railway and she did go in a couple of times, but not far enough - then finally during the evening Silva went in, aided by a tub of KFC!

Another successful capture carried out by the Canine Capture UK and ACUK alliance, professionals working together in difficult dog capture cases. Read Tono's story!

SAFE - Tono, a Spanish rescue pointer, escaped from his home near Talsarnau, North Wales on 22nd December. He initially stayed around that area, but despite several efforts by his owners to recapture him, he remained at large. We were asked to help, and a trap and camera was set up in a field he was regularly visiting. He was not comfortable entering the trap so a slow process of getting him to feed at the entrance was in place when on 3rd January, Storm Eleanor arrived! Tono is a very skittish dog and was spooked by the wind, and ran along the rail line to Penrhyndeudraeth. We hoped he would settle there, local people were all so supportive, in not chasing Tono, food was put out and he had some sort of routine, but he kept running and using the rail lines to move about! He finally left Penrhyndeudraeth on 7th January and headed for Tremadog using the Ffestiniog Railway - a much safer option as no passenger trains running until February!
Finally he settled into a routine - Portmeirion/Minfford/Porthmadog using the Ffestiniog line, and with the fantastic support of local people who heeded our requests to ignore Tono, and superstar Rob, we were able to get him feeding near Lidl in Porthmadog.
In the light of the weather forecast of strong winds and rain a quick decision was made to organise to dart that night. The risk of him running onto the main railway line or using the bypass again was too great. So last night, 15th January at 11.20pm he arrived to feed, later than usual, as he decided to hang around the cemetery area west of Minfford, keeping us all waiting and with only 10 minutes to spare before we lost street lighting! The marksman had been in place since 9pm, but our patience was rewarded, and finally Tono was darted and his 24 day adventure ended.

Thank you to Elayne for her kind words (below). The success of Ria's safe capture was reliant on many factors, not least the kindness of the good local people of Wythenshawe, the resilience of Elayne and her family in the face of sometimes harsh, and unwarranted criticism, the professionalism of the Canine Capture UK team, and the reliability of the technology supplied and operated by Animal Capture UK. Once again, it was a pleasure to meet you Elayne, your family and your friends, and to have been part of this amazing capture operation that could not have been achieved in any other way.

Muscida Myst
Muscida Myst As the owner of Ria, Elayne Orange. I cannot tell you how emotional the last few days have been for me and my girls when planning the capture of Ria. We had four years of emotional turmoil not knowing where Ria was, even though we looked in the areas around where we live. Then Feb 2017, we got a link on FB to say that a dog like ours was roaming Wythenshawe which is a good few miles away from us. We tried everything anyone could think of to try and catch her, but after failing at everything, I was roaming the web two months ago and found Mike's Animal Capture UK and Canine Capture UK team, since then everything has been done with such professionalism, that I cannot thank these wonderful people enough. Kaye, of Canine Capture UK, contacted us and gave us invaluable advice on how to get Ria in the best position for darting - I cannot say how much of a relief it was to have a professional take control of the situation and tell us exactly what we needed to do to give us the best possible chance of capturing Ria. They know how much they mean to me, but I would like everyone else to know, just what a absolutely great team this is, and how much I appreciate all the hard work they did, with the help of a wonderful couple from Wythenshawe. I am also so grateful to the Lost Souls Sanctuary for taking Ria in - she was never meant to be a house pet, and the Sanctuary is the absolutely best place for her to lead a happy life - thank you.

Reply from Canine Capture UK - advice and support for escaped dogs.
Elayne, you and your girls never gave up on Ria!! - after 5 years having tried everything you could think of you were all still committed to her and you should be very proud of yourself and your daughters for that, for refusing to give up. I have no doubt that the last 5 years have not been easy for you or Ria, having been wrongly judged at times but it’s thankfully over now and we are all so happy to have been able to help. Sometimes owners don’t want to listen, sometimes they want to stay in ‘control’. We can understand why some owners feel that way with emotions running strong but the need to retain ‘control’ makes any case difficult with advice hard to give and accept. Had you adopted that position I’m sure you can imagine where we’d be now with a dog as savvy as Ria! You accepted all advice and remained positive, that made our jobs easier and it shows as the whole process after 5 years ‘on the run’ was complete after just two months. Thank you for being a good owner to Ria, you and your girls. Ria will love it at Anne’s once she settles in, we’re all looking forward to seeing how she gets on!!
