Hello my lovelies,
I have been absent for quite some time recuperating and getting the wind back in my sails after my operation.
Although I am not returning to cat grooming, I am turning my attention to helping local animal rescue centres.
Below are a few of the animals rescued by Jackson's Animal Rescue.
They have two sites, one for hedgehogs at Larton in Frankby on the Wirral and a second site for pusscats, birds, pigs, goats, ferrets, rabbits and other creatures that find themselves in need of human intervention.

Heartbroken 😥 saying goodbye today to our fabulous fur baby, Ruby Boo aka Aureus Vivacious.
She was one very special pusscat who has been at our side through thick and thin during the past 15 years.
Her spirit can now run free causing Burmese havoc with Bumble and Butty.
It has been an absolute honour sharing our lives with this beautiful girl.
The love shared with Ruby and all our past pets is what is driving us towards helping more cats in the future.
We don't quite know what that looks like for now, but my health is now back on track as we look forward to creating some kind of a legacy around our passion for cats.

I want to thank every single one of you for your custom over the last 5 and a half years.
I have made the decision to step down from the physical grooming side of things myself, but am going to be passing my knowledge on to local cat charities, so as we can ultimately help more pusscats in the longterm.
I say it all in the video below.

UPDATE FROM ME

Good Morning Crazy Cat Family, we hope you are all keeping well.
We wanted to give you an update to keep you in the know.
At present, we are not grooming any fur babies. This is due to our time being focused on my Dad and his needs, aswell as my own ongoing health issues. We will keep you informed of any changes.

A few of you lovely peeps have reached out asking if you can help either financially or with support in any way and we feel very humbled and grateful to have such great customers with gorgeous fur babies.

Fortunately for us, we have an online business which gives us passive income every single week. This was always our Plan B as a back up which has now proved invaluable during this time.

What great foresight, as you never know what is around the corner!

Rest assured, this time off has given us plenty of time to think about the future of cat grooming and what possible direction we can take this passion project business in the future.

Exciting times ahead for Plan A and Plan B!

We wish you all well and just for clarification, we are not taking any bookings until circumstances change here.

Sorry we cannot be more specific just yet.

Hello my lovely cat family.
Many of you have noticed I've not been doing a great deal of posts just recently. That's because I am taking a break for a while. I have just honoured a few clients that had advance bookings as I didn't want to let them down.
A lot of you know my personal circumstances with family issues which take a great deal of my time up, but I too am facing some health problems of my own. Nothing too serious! So I'm taking some time off to help myself heal and get back on form.
In the meantime, keep brushing those fur babies. 😻❤

Little Toby, a Persian Chinchilla is a regular visitor to us. He comes in for a full clip as he is not a fan of being brushed, so it's much easier if we keep him short all year round to prevent any matting from forming.

Mitzi has been a little under the weather lately and as can happen with our elderly cats, her coat had started to clump in areas. So, she had a thorough groom over and we managed to remove most of them with the Moulting Comb, only resorting to the clippers once to remove a very stubborn matt.

Chester the very fluffy Persian cat visited today for his full groom as well as a bum and belly clip.
He had a few matts developing in the usual places, but at least we were able to remove them before they turned into full on pelts and cause even bigger problems for him. It's always better to stay ahead with maintenance grooms rather than coming once the cats coats are really bad. It makes it easier for your cat and for me as the groomer.

ARE YOUR PET’S DISHES SAFE?

If you’re like me, you probably haven’t given this question much consideration. As I was browsing the aisles of my local pet store, I noticed that some of the bowls were marked on the bottom “not for human use,” and the majority of them were made in China. A quick Google search about products made in China will produce thousands of articles about the dangerous toxins that are present in their exports and those of other countries as well. This begs the question, if a product is not safe for humans, why would it be safe for animals? The short answer is – it’s not. And considering 95% of owners consider their pet a part of the family, why would you risk their health if you knew a better way?

HIDDEN DANGERS IN PET FOOD BOWLS
As I researched the issue, I started to read quite a bit of information about the different risks associated with different types of bowls. Here is a list of some of the most common dangers that could be lurking in your pet’s bowls.

Bacteria. Harmful bacteria is known to thrive in moist environments. Pet bowls, particularly plastic bowls, tend to make ideal environments for bacterial growth. Acne in cats has been linked to plastic bowls.

Bisphenol A, commonly called BPA. According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a consumer watchdog group dedicated to “protecting human health and the environment,” BPA is a carcinogen linked to infertility, developmental risks and diabetes in humans.
Phthalates. Chemicals linked to early puberty in girls and other reproductive harms. They show up in PVC plastic, toys and plastic wrap.

Lead. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) “Generally, lead affects children more than it does adults. Children tend to show signs of severe lead toxicity at lower levels than adults…” And the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA.gov) goes on to say “Children may also be exposed to lead by eating and drinking food or water containing lead or from dishes or glasses that contain lead, inhaling lead dust from lead-based paint or lead-contaminated soil or from playing with toys with lead paint.” If little humans are susceptible to lead toxicity, certainly our pets are as well.

Chromium. This element is a known carcinogen. It is sometimes referred to as the “Erin Brockovich” contaminant as it gained wide exposure through the movie of the same name.

Bromine. An endocrine disruptor commonly found in flame retardants. According to EWG, bromine has been found in nearly 50% of plastic toys and teethers coming from China.

Cobalt. An element that can cause respiratory illness and cancer in humans. According to Scientific American, “Cobalt is ‘not on the radar of researchers,’ said David Bellinger, a Harvard professor of neurology who studies the effects of metal exposure on children’s developing brains. ‘I do not think that I have ever seen a study on its potential toxicity in children – or adults. If it is a common exposure and it is bioavailable, then it should be looked at.’”

Aoife a rescued 15 year old deaf girlie visited for her groom over today. This elderly lady certainly still has spirit which is probably what helped her survive when she was on the streets of Liverpool. Her coat was starting to matt slightly, so I talked Mum and Dad through how to groom her correctly with the right tools so that Aoife can enjoy the rest of her days matt free.

Bob and his enormous coat arrived today in need of a full groom over.
Just look at that huge coat of his! To help with the matting, we opted for a belly clip so that he can start afresh with new regrowth. Mum can then start the grooming regime whilst the coat is really short to get him used to being well handled all over.

Nicholas, the Ragdoll arrived in need of a very thorough groom over. His coat was very fluffy and had lots of dead fur trapped in it. As for his belly, the matts were far too tight to comb out so we had to do a full belly shave on him.

R I P to gorgeous cheeky Persian boy, Charlie who had bags of character and oodles of love for everybody he met. He loved his grooming sessions and used to run to the phone when his Dad played my videos when he heard my voice. Charlie and myself had built a real bond through his regular grooming sessions and I will certainly miss this little fella.
