The city flag has been raised this morning to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Wodensfield, which took place on August 5 and 6, 910 AD. The battle, which historians believe happened within our city boundaries and is sometimes called the Battle of Tettenhall or the Battle of Wednesfield, saw the Anglo Saxons defeat the Danes of Northumberland - laying the foundations for a unified England.
