🆘🆘The Lorca 100+🆘🆘

It’s been a rollercoaster 3 weeks for us since we had the dreadful news. The LIPS extended family have really pulled together to help the dogs with some amazing results. Here are some of the Lorca 100+ dogs spending their first moments and days with their forever families. ❤️⭐️❤️⭐️

In addition we can tell you that there have been….
👏85 reservations/adoptions!
👏1750 signatures on the petition
👏numerous sponsorship pledges and donations.

These have been amazing. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the reservations all lead to speedy adoptions and the matches are good.

We have a further 36 dogs and 19 pups all unreserved Lorca dogs that we will continue to highlight to you and we will continue with these campaigns until we know they are safe.

We are negotiating paying Anguimar to keep the dogs where they are until we find them homes or we are satisfied that their welfare needs are cared for under the new contract. We will keep you updated about this.

We are still fighting to ensure the 50 remaining Lorca dogs stay where they are or go to better homes. We have had amazing support so far in all aspects of the help we have asked for. As you’d expect, we won’t rest because they deserve better.

One of our volunteers took this lovely photo of Jackie on Friday and described this 2 year old, Belgian Malinois as gorgeous and quite calm for a malinois. Lovely, quite obedient and good with other dogs and cats. He has leishmania (usually managed cheaply in Spain).

All dogs listed above will be going to the perrera with a worrying reputation at the end of December 2023 unless we can find suitable, loving homes. Lorca Town Hall have made this decision, apparently based on cost alone. The welfare of these dogs is our priority.

‘Tis the night before Christmas and all through the town, every shelter is full we are lost, but not found.

Our numbers are hung on our kennels so bare,we hope every minute that someone will care.

They'll come to adopt us and give us the call, "Come here, Max and Sparkie come fetch your new ball!"

But now we sit here and think of the days we were treated so fondly - we had cute, baby ways.

Once we were little, then we grew and we grew.
Now we're no longer young and we're no longer new.

So out the back door we were thrown like the trash.
They reacted so quickly - why were they so rash?
We "jump on the children," "don't come when they call," we "bark when they leave us, "climb over the wall."

We should have been neutered, we should have been spayed,
now we suffer the consequence of the errors THEY made.
If only they'd trained us, if only we knew, we'd have done what they asked us and worshiped them, too. We were left in the backyard, or worse, let to roam.

Now we're tired and lonely and out of a home.
They dropped us off here and they kissed us goodbye...
"Maybe someone else will give you a try.
So now here we are, all confused and alone
in a shelter with others who long for a home.

The kind workers come through with a meal and a pat,
with so many to care for, they can't stay to chat.
They move to the next kennel, giving each of us cheer...
we know that they wonder how long we'll be here.

We lay down to sleep and sweet dreams fill our heads
of a home filled with love and our own cozy beds.
Then we wake to see sad eyes, brimming with tears -
our friends filled with emptiness, worry, and fear.

If you can't adopt us and there's no room at the inn
could you help with the bills and fill our food bin?
We count on your kindness each day of the year

Can you give more than hope to everyone here?

Wow! Look at these beautiful girl staffies, just a sweet, cuddly 2/3 weeks old.

We’ll do what we can to prevent these girls going to the new perrera 😩.

If these girls are reserved now, they can travel once they are 4 months old. Maybe we’ll be able to find a foster until then? 🙏🙏🙏

Oh this poor boy, lonely and lost after years of service to his family. How can people be so cruel and to end up in the Spanish rescue which is so, so grim

Hello, my name is Erick and I’m a 10 year old Spanish mastin boy.

Apart from that I’m not very sure about anything else, I'm really confused. Can you help me and tell me what happened and what will happen to me? I must’ve done something very wrong.

So, what I do know is that a little while ago I was with my family of 10 years and now....I’m here….I’m not with my family but I’m alone with roughly 350 loud dogs and 100 cats. I really think I’m the loneliest dog here.

I’ve been told that I’ve been ‘rescued’ and that my life has been saved….so they say. I just don’t feel very rescued right now, I hardly feel alive…to be honest, I'm not sure whether I want to carry on ‘living’. Am I ungrateful? Could I just close my eyes and go to a better place?

I’m so sad but I know I’m only a dog.

I think that I’ve been acting differently since being here. I’ve been told that’s normal and its to be expected. They talk about 'kennel depression', it’s not something I came across whilst with my family. I wonder why I’m here. I must’ve been very bad, but I was sure they loved me as I loved them.

Why did they discard me? Why am I here? Is this a prison? I have bars on the doors of my small kennel so I guess it must be. It’s not very comfortable. What have the other dogs done to deserve being here? Are they bad dogs too?

I’m know I need to try and be positive and that the volunteers are lovely. They will try and get me out for a walk up to four times a week for 15 minutes or so, away from my cell, that’s if I get chosen to go out. I know I should be grateful to have a walk up to 4 times a week. I’m told if I’m very lucky I get a cuddle and a stroke. It’s just not what I’m used to.

I get fed, watered, I have a roof over my head and can see the vet if I’m poorly.

I know that sometimes humans come in….not volunteers but humans looking for a dog to make a new family. I know I need to try different things to get their attention but their eyes don’t meet mine. I think if they did they would see what a beautiful soul I am. I’m an old boy so I don’t have much hope.

Am I rescued…is this my forever home? Living without humans?

Maybe I will spend the rest of my days here. I’m alive but not living. I need people I can trust to feel alive again. Is that you?

🚨📢This Post is Directed To All Bully Owners📢🚨

It has been such a devastating weekend for bully owners and dog lovers alike, this ban is not going to solve anything and it is the most unjust legislation in the UK. Owners should be held accountable and not the whole breed! It is like the police catching a handful of people from a specific ethnicity who have all committed a crime and then branding that specific race are criminals, it's discrimination.

We will be offering our help to all local bully owners by offering;

‼️A 50% discount on one to one muzzle training to help your dogs become desensitized.

‼️We will start a group session on a Monday to help bully owners socialise their dogs and work on lead manners again at a discounted rate.

This ban isn't just scary for the XL Bully's but any large breed dog that could be mistaken for an XL and wrongfully seized.

This is Murphy, a gorgeous, gentle XL we have helped to muzzle train and this is how his life will look moving forward, it's just sad. Please help support the good dogs and good owners and sign the petition 👇

This lad is 7 months old (STORMZY) and really need a home!

He is super strong but with the correct training he will make a beautiful companion.

He doesn’t know his own strength so we wouldn’t recommend a home with smaller dogs and children.
