Little Elsie came along for a wash & dry today. She’s a nervous little dog so we try and keep her visit as short as possible. A few treats helped too.

Little Pippa doesn’t like her feet being trimmed so likes to have a lay down so I can’t get to them. Obviously this is a right pain in the butt for me, but I always remember that grooming is a very stressful experience for a dog.
The last thing I want to do is to overwhelm your dog even more. It creates a vicious circle as the dog will dislike its grooming visits even more.

How can you help…?
Remember dogs like routine and familiarity.
Don’t ‘groomer hop’ - please let your dog get to know and trust your groomer.
Don’t leave so long between grooms that the fur gets matted - this makes the groom so much more complicated, not to mention very uncomfortable for your dog. This then makes your dog associate me with being in pain which will make the next groom even more challenging.
Check your dogs paws regularly for any lumps of matted fur. This is like having something stuck in your shoe - not very comfortable at all!

Pippa does come very regularly so we are working on getting her to trust me with her little paws!

Daphne is the sweetest, gentle dog. She comes in for a wash, dry and little trim up of the areas prone to tangling and matting such as ears and trouser area.

Little Pixels owner told me that she was very scared of grooming, absolutely hated the drier, and gets herself into a right tizzy so I really wasn’t sure how this was going to go.
I’m pleased to say Pixel was good as gold for me, we had lots of cuddles and I loved every minute of it ❤️
